dye matching the Gibson Mastertone 

The last step before applying finish, in this case the most important is to match the original color of the '63 Gibson Mastertone. I have trouble with the lousy bottles the dye comes in and it literally gets all over me. This isn't necessary when just using any old nice looking color, but I go to great lengths to match the old color. This is especially time consuming with vitreous colors that build up in layers, as you apply a coat, let it dry and repeat 3-4 times to see what you get.
