Jenn, you look like you are enjoying yourself so much while you are dyeing. I use to teach dying and dye-painting at quilt shows and I also dye fabric, yarn, & roving for my own enjoyment now. Just to ease your mind, it takes more agitation of roving than you'd think for it to really felt. It may look a little felted on the surface, but it will fluff right back up most of the time, as long as you don't use soap as well as agitate it quite a bit. I kind of "pop" mine by holding a length and snapping it sort of like you'd snap a towel to fluff it back up. I only say this so that you don't worry quite so much. I'm no expert either, just have a lot of experimentation under my belt. Take care.
Jennifer you are in your element, love seeing how happy you are creating your color ways. So beautiful, can’t wait to see what you turn it into! Have a beautiful day!
When you said the thought left your brain cause it made me laugh so hard and think of my passed French grandfather, he'd always be like " and there is was ..gone" all the time. Pretty colours those are my mother in laws favourites purple and teal. The way that purple broke is gorgeous
I love watching you dye yarn and seeing the end results. Can't wait to see what it looks like when you spin it🤗 Wishing you a beautiful blessed weekend 🙏🏻🥰💖
We had typewriters, and learned balanced and unbalanced words. 😂 I loved watching this! Dying wool and broom corn is on our list! Hubs has learned to make brooms. ❤
We were very fortunate in our district. I managed to get all my college prep classes done plus home economics all the way to tailoring and household budgets including insurance. I even took bookkeeping because I thought it was important.
Jen this is so awesome! I have never watched anything like this before. Does this “fluff” turn into yarn you can crochet with? I hope you will video the rest of this process. Think of all the colors you can create. It’s simply magical. Thanks for showing 🧶🧶gayle
Some of the schools I went to, their saving grace was the federal funding from the military students. The HS I went to in IL had their power cut off for 3 days. Navy had to go in and pay the bill to get the students back in class, because parents were complaining to the navy not the school. Nothing like sitting in typing 1 and the power went out. We had some old Apple computers that had the old 5.25 to boot up.
What cool colors! I hope they stay as vibrant and rich as you are going for. This is so much fun to watch you do, it is all anticipation! lol Are you doing both hanks? today or just the one for starters? I am so excited I can't wait to see LOL Hope you and your whole family are having a wonderful day. See you soon!
The high school I went to did not have a cafeteria due to it being condemned , along with the shower rooms. So I do understand the district that is not well equipped. My graduating class was 65 people. We had the old one piece Tandy computers. I did take typing, but did also do home economics. I can sew decent still. But we made do with what we had at the school.
Good Morning Jennifer! What is the benefit to dying fluff as opposed to after you've spun it into yarn? Is it just getting to spin in color? Just curious, thank you. Peace and Blessings everyone 🧶
I can't wait to try dying some yarn. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out! Also, what happened to your yarn yard sale? I've been checking your store a few times every day but haven't seen anything yet. I'm excited to grab a box!
Hi Jen love ur channel. I'm not all means an expert. But have u tried soaking ur fiber first then adding ur color. Also have u tried dyeing with highlighters in the microwave.
Very educational. So I wonder, why you chose to dye before turning it into yarn? Was it just for a learning experience for you also, or is this the way it is done? I am very ignorant here.
I’m so sorry your art teacher didn’t boost your confidence. As a teacher when I asked the students what grade they believed they had earned, I’d always tell them how much more they could achieve. Middle school and high school should be for kids to try different things. Praying little man has a good end of the year
