Balancing and thematic issues aside, DL2's gun animations and sound design are actually really damn good and I'm happy that's the case. They pretty much eclipse DL1's animations and sounds in every way for me. But what do you think? Are you happy with the gun animations in DL2? Or do you still prefer DL1s?
@@Vlaax_ the game. I understand I wasn't very precise, but many dl1 players were disappointed in the sequel. This is easily noticeable in all of the updates they put out, changing the game. Aussie has already complained about how grindy and annoying this update feels. I'd really like to buy it, but I don't want to waste money on an unPolished (pun intended) game.
I can’t even imagine how terrifying it must be for the residents of Villedor. Years without guns, just for some parkour boi to arrive from outside the walls and suddenly start mag dumping
One thing you can't take away from DL2 is that they did not fucking slack on the animations. Sure, sometimes they mess a bit with the flow, like they did with parkour, but they are fucking pristine. Gawd damn.

I like that Crane reloads faster than Aiden, it shows that he has more experience with guns and also makes narrative sense since he's an undercover agent.
@@maksuzbrojony8221that’s an animation thing not always a lore thing. They were a much smaller studio back then and likely didn’t have much experience animating guns (previous games like Dead Island weren’t really that much to talk about) and in 2 you can see they were able to really step up their animation quality
Even though i never wanted proper guns and would rather have scrap guns made by the smart twins, i still was hoping they'd have the double barrel shotty in DL2 in the update, but it'll probably come later
obviously DL2 has better animation considering it was released 8 years later, but well most of the DL community still sticks with the og game, mostly cuz of the be the zombie mode
I wish there was a button or toggle of some sort that would let you stow or equip weapons to your hand while you run, because the run animations for the guns in DL2 are freaking awesome, the pistol specifically.
overall better in every way, but 1 small detail i noticed. When firing consecutive shots in DL1 the barrel/nozzel heats up emmitting heat distortions. That detail is missing except for the very brief amount shown in the muzzle flash in DL2. That's a nitpick though.
I really love the animation of the dispersion in each gun in DL2, you can really feel theirs power. Not to mention the shotgun reload animation, which is actually epic.
Yeah the animations themselves are actually a lot better than 1. Props to techland for making the best of a pretty tough decision. Mostly the balancing issues that can hopefully be ironed out some way or another. Thematically I hope we can get some makeshift stuff too, maybe have a faction of people trying to make guns idk.

Wow, the shotgun comparison is the best showcase here. they did everything right on the new one; beefier sound, correct aim, and better reload animation. Man, I'm actually getting a bit tempted to dive into DL2 now.
Little question in Dying light 1 when Kyle Crane shoots with gun the zombies hear that sound and they go to his location does that happen in Dying light 2 with aiden too? Cause i dont hear any zombies coming to him

Well I’ll be damned they actually made 2 separate animations for when the gun is completely empty or not 😭 sucks though because you can’t get 1 extra bullet so it doesn’t really make sense. But that’s just me nitpicking and making a mountain out of an anthill.
Alright, I think we need more variants of the same categories but with noticeable quirks to diffferentiate them. The Hunting shotgun could return with larger capacity, slightly higher damage and tighter spread but with the added manual pump. The Rust AK should return as a normal AK that kicks a lot more but does higher damage. The suppressed pistol could make a return with a much rarer ammo. I want to see an actual machine gun or a grenade launcher but it doesn't fit Dying Light as a whole but who knows, Aiden doing gun-kata with an M249 would be sick.
Only thing is that some of the parts of the gun and stuff that moved in the first game were more satisfying, if only because it was slow enough to actually see the movement.
DL2 gun sounds are amazing and the flash from the gun is a great detail, however the only thing they're missing is the heat from the end of the barrel and the viral alert noise
Guns can make sense in DL2 since ppl would still have guns hidden around the place even though villador banned em. They would have to look a bit more worn tho or have them completely refurbished by someone before you could use it.
i love jais quote about villedor, there are many secrets in villedor and he is going to expand his armory more! so there is hope for more guns and attachments in the future!!!
Are the gun models exactly the same or can you receive different looking guns in DL2? Kinda odd if they just decided to port over the exact models but the sound and animations are fucking amazing!!
As divisive adding guns to DL2 Its good to see techland didn’t just port over the guns from DL1 as is and polished them to look and feel good to use, I thought they would slack on a feature that wasn’t even intended from the beginning and it’s actually quite surprising how much polish there is to the guns
Finally guns, the reason i quitted dl2 was because there wasn’t any gun but now maybe i can comeback. I only don’t like the sound of shotgun in dl2 but it’s my opinion
Guns in DL2 feels significantly better and punchier in DL2. They just need to add some variety such as revolvers. And I think Techland should retroactively add guns to some older bundles such as the Gunslinger bundle. One annoying thing though is that firing guns INSTANTLY spawns virals which are already very annoying in DL2. In DL1, there was at least a delay. And if you were fast, you could get away from them before they see you. DL2 is significantly more annoying in that aspect.
they do be re-using the old gun models and re-render + re-animated it and even makes it look even newer and cleaner than the first game when its 15 years later 💀
They did a great job audiovisually. The models and textures are better (That's the bare minimum but guess it is worth mentioning), animations and sounds are surprisingly detailed. But the gameplay with this guns its so awkward and uncomfortable, because is missing KEY Quality of Life features that DL1 had: Aiming with right click and quick access to weapon slots + Firearms shouldn't get holsted, aiming with a gun that's just not there is quite disorienting despite the crosshair. And i will miss the high fire rate and reload speed of the semi auto shotgun, it made it feel truly intimidating, like the heavy hitter of all guns, it was so powerful and satisfying to use.
I prefer dl2s guns, but only because the quality is a lot better (cough cough shotgun sight). Ive gotten used to killing zombies with melee weapons (and the occasional bow) and not guns, so its sorta strange now.
this is incredible by DL2 devs on this one, the animations look awesome and are better in every way in comparison to DL1, so i commend that. one thing thats a little disappointing for me is the lack of new guns that were not in DL1 and could be introduced in DL2
I think they should increase the firerate of the shotgun, its not a pump action shotgun so why is it so slow firing? Its the exact same copy from DL1 but slow as hell. But aside of the damage output of those guns and the atrocious golden fortnite variant, its refreshing comperated to dl1.
The DL2 shotgun is slower because Aiden isn’t as experienced with 12 gauge recoil, and has to slow down to recover. Crane, however, is ex-special forces with GRE training on top of that.
@@4gent69 Doesn't matter, he can still shoot with a smg full auto. That excuse of Aiden being unexperimented with guns is brain dead. He can shoot fast with a shotgun, its just the dev who nerfed the firerate on purpose because it was op in dl1. Stop saying random BS for an excuse.
The gun recoils a little more when Aidan is shooting, the gun recoils less when Crane is shooting. Why is it because Crane is a trained agent, he is a former soldier, Aidan has only street training and has never used a gun before
Gotta admit I’m loving what they did with the new lighting and visual improvements. Don’t like how grindy the new vendor is, but boy does the game look and feel a whole lot better than it did before. The guns also feel suuuper inaccurate but that could just be me. Either way, MORE UPDATES LIKE THESE TECHLAND!
@iker9148 They mean Aidens holding the gun very awkwardly when not using precise aiming, it's too far to the right and should be a little more to the left, making it more towards the middle of the screen and more accurate to how normal people hold guns.
SMG and Shotgun are so much better in DL2 . SMG has a better sound and aiden holds it with both hands . Shotgun has a much better sound and you feel how powerful it is. In DL1 you dont even load shells into your shotgun. Crane just shoves nothin but air into the tube. In DL2 you can actually see the shells in aidens hand while they are going in. Rifle's reload animation also seems to be better. I just want them to add different types of existent guns. Double Barrel Shotgun( hopefully an over and under model , but I dont see them making a new model), revolvers, police rifle etc.
@AussieGG it was just a general comment on the changes from dl1 and how they immediately walked back the bad ones like guns. If they thought they did better, they would have stuck with the original plan of no guns. This is damage control, albeit a well made improvement on dl1 guns.
DL2 will never be on par with DL1 i think especially with the masterfull the following DLC, ghe buggy is wicked and id rather kill infected in DL1 and the night chases are way better.
Idk what the engine is called that Techland used in Dead Island, Riptide, COJ: Cartel and Dying Light, but it's absolutely terrible with guns. The way the gunplay feels is atrocious. The aim doesn't slow down enough for ADS to be comfortable, the animations sucked, the camera work is nauseating and it halved my FPS on my PC. Seems like they finally decided to address the issue in DL2. Unless the ADS still sucks.
@@TrickezYT, peeps love Dying Light 1 more because it is a finished product. As for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, we still need the Elyseum Edition and major improvements in the City assets. They started to change the map in the Firearms Update, but we need more than this.
apart from the hud, color grading, terrible delays in parkour moves like jumping from a wallhang, double jump from obstacle, yeah.. it's getting better n better.
The dl2 guns suck, So lemme explain, I'd rather have guns than not but it's just kind of annoying how you can't drop guns, you can't carry alot of ammo AND they don't do alot of damage, it wouldn't be a big deal if we didn't have to do a whole bunch of bounties to get coins to buy ammo, they suck at balancing tbh, im ngl I'm kinda disappointed. Its not even worth using guns over bows, how did they let bows be better 🤷♂️ its so inconvenient and it's the same gun models too I hope these all get fixed but I doubt it, also you cant even drop more arrows to carry more ammo stacks!* Renegades also aren't scared of the guns even though jai said "be careful showing people you have a gun"
Moreover,guns aren't supposed to kick in your face unless it's a 4 bore elefant gun.Say what you will,caliber and muscle mass really do matter aswell as positioning to "eat" the recoil,but videogames heavily accentuate the visual recoil.
@@iker9148 If you'd like to bring the aiden's a pilgrim/crane's military background take,you would be probably right,but I doubt the developers made the animations with this in mind.
Remember when they said that the boomstick would be the only “gun” in DL2? Fast foward 2 and a half years later and now the boomstick is completely irrelevant. I honestly wish that if they were to introduce guns back to DL, it should’ve been with the 2nd DLC with these guns being introduced there instead of being randomly added here, or maybe just stick to making scrap guns like in rust or fallout 4, then again, I’m at least glad they put some real effort into improving the guns and how they look here in DL2. Just wish that they introduced them with the 2nd DLC, that way it’d make a bit more sense and would be believable.
While I'd prefer they had more original visuals for the guns, like pipe guns from Fallout 4, I appreciate the work. It looks good, specially the angles.
