Dying Swan - Lopatkina, Osipova, Zakharova 

Lopatkina is almost not human in this interpretation, her arms are wings. PURE PERFECTION!

Lopatkina looked like an actual swan for a few moments. Her performance was incredible and made me cry.

Each dancer brought different emotion and movement to the death throes of a dying animal. However, Lopatkina's interpretation was absolutely exquisite. A perfect blending of art and tragedy.

Each of the variation brought a different feeling and for me, I love Lopatkina's version the most just in that she's so graceful in her movements and her body line is just phenomenal. Lopatkina felt like acceptance, knowing that death is inevitable and it was her last chance to dance to her heart content, sorrow oozing from her but in a way that makes people gaze at her all mesmerized. Osipova on the other hand was like a wounded swan in denial, couldn't process the truth that she was dying, still struggling to dance, to fly, and her emotions translated beautifully in her steps and I truly loved her interpretation, especially the ending, showing clearly how desperate the swan still wanted to reach the sky but her wings already gave out. Zakharova embodied pure regret and grief in her performance, and it was so heartbreaking to watch her variation. It almost felt nostalgic the way she moved across the stage, like she was reminiscing of the past, of when she was still freely flying around. Technically, I have no words because I am still much a beginner as a viewer, but emotionally, they all captivated me in different ways but all the same, relaying a part of death that feels true to life.

L O P A T K I N A is OTHERWORLDLY here. She's embodying a dying swan! You get to really feel & believe what is happening through her interpretation. I was lost in the elegance & beauty of her arms (like real wings) ! The artistry and ability to BE the character. Brava Queen! 👑 Zakharova is Beautiful with a well performed rendition of the character & execution of movement. Always with exquisite lines. Though she's an Amazing talented Ballerina, I'm not sold on Osipova in this particular variation. She doesn't fit the body type as the other two either. Her rendition appears to be more "human" feigning/acting like a dying swan. I found myself distracted by the dance/ pretending to be a dying swan through moving as opposed to just becoming the swan thru acting with the character. Her arms are not always in character. Doing less would have been so much more. Great to watch them All. 👍🏽🔥

All beautiful and perfect technically but Lopatkina is just on another scale… she IS a swan

Lopatkina has the emotional aspect down and Zakharova's arms are mesmerising. But I also really enjoyed Osipova's verion. I like her in general, but I didn't think the Dying Swan would be a good part for her. But she has a more desperate mood and port de bras than the more usual interpretation, which actually works.

I watched these 3 ladies a few times because it seemed that the comments favored the first performance and I wanted to form my own opinion. Definitely the winner is young lady #1. She's much more precise in her movements and as fluid as Evian. She's absolutely flawless and appears light as a feather. The grace in her arms alone is miraculous. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I favor young lady #3 for her performance. The young lady who was the second performance seemed a bit messy in her movements at some points. I am not someone who watches a great deal of ballet but I do love it. I jumped down the YT rabbit hole looking for a specific piece of classical music. Life is like the YT rabbit hole. You never know what you're going to get.

I love Zakharova. Perfect. ♥️

Wow. To be honest, I know nothing of ballet or ballet dancers but still this piece of art brings tears into my eyes somehow. Her legs actually seem to be underwater, almost like haze, while her arms float in the air as if there’s no gravity. Every twitching, trembling, and flapping of her looks so fragile and powerful at the same time (don’t know how). And the final collapse in 3:20… It just beautifully aches. I’ve never seen a dying swan but I guess I must feel in the same way that I do now. Thank you for sharing this. Wonderful performance.

For this one specifically, Lopatkina, (never been a huge fan of hers but god those arms are stunning) Anna Pavlova is the best in this, Plisetskaya close second.

Не совсем корректно сравнивать съёмки разных планов, у Лопаткиной более удачный кадр. Но. Она из потустороннего мира абсолютно, в ней есть что-то демонически притягательное, дикая стихия. При этом видно, что это не столько за счёт внешних данных, сколько за счёт ювелирной интеллектуальной работы над танцем.

La que más me gustó fue la versión de Ulyana Lopatkina, ¡incomparable y conmovedora es un cisne de verdad!!! ¡Natalya Osipova me sorprendió por primera vez interpretando a la perfección la versión de Anna Pavlova de 1925! Su actuación fue un viaje al pasado, ¡parecía Pavlova! No hay nada que decir sobre Svetlana, ella está perfecta como siempre (pero demasiado fría). Felicitaciones desde Argentina!!!

Osipova, hands down. You can see that swan struggling to dance his last dance. The swan has the willpower, but not the strength. You can see that swan dying and it's amazing.

I see 3 kinds of interpretation... n actually for me the 3 of them complete each other: Natalia: asking for help! Zakharova: she’s denying to what it's going to happen Lopatkina: acceptance.

I felt that these were three different interpretations of death, or three different kinds of deaths. It seemed that most posters preferred Lopatkina's very graceful death. A death without conflict. The first time I saw this I didn't like Osipova's interpretation. But after seeing it a few times I like it the most. You can feel the pain. Osipova has so much strength, in the latter parts you can see her muscles contorting. This interpretation is so stark, so real. Zakhartova's version is graceful but with more tension and struggle than Loparkina's, but with some of the struggle.

No1 is fantastic. Beautiful wings ❤️

Não sei se é por cauda do horário(3 horas da manhã), mas a musica, juntamente com os movimentos de Lopatkina que é simplesmente impecável, tão gentil, e serena e ao mesmo tempo triste, estão me dando um sono profundo, uma sensação de calmaria.

My favourite is no 3. No 1 is SUPERB 🤩, but there’s smthg missing for me that no 3 gives me: Dignity in death, but also profound devastation of betrayal. The suspended sadness of that performance KILLZ me!!! As I said, no 1 is so pure and fluid, but almost too pretty, with some shocking accents, since, yeah… dying. But no 3 is sublime artistry from start to finish. Idk what to say about no 2. It was just weird for me. Like a mockery

Mi favorita sin duda alguna es Sakharova. Simplemente perfecta. Su expresión, su suavidad me conmueve enormemente. Lopatkina tiene hermosos brazos, lindos movimientos, pero no me genera la misma emoción que Sakharova. Osipova no me gustó, me distrae y la encuentro brusca, incluso sobreactuada. Es como la versión de Trocadero. No genera la emoción que tiene esta hermosa pieza. Sin duda las tres manejan la enorme técnica que requiere bailar la muerte del cisne, pero en mi caso me quedo con Sakharova, es la que me transporta y me emociona hasta las lágrimas....

I just want to say THANK YOU for putting this out there. This is the first time in 53 years I have seen the dying swan. Will have to go back to see, but as a nurse, I would have to say, I loved the middle swan ( please forgive that I did not remember to pay attention to names.) Had to hold back tears.
