The committee welcomes Dylan to the team for his supreme goat herding skills. In this edition of The Committee he shares his top 3 reasons to bring goats into the backcountry (and how he got into it).
Goats are often thought of as strange and quirky, true enough. But they are true utilitarian's. Where most pack animals need leading, goats follow their human through deadfall, across streams, and over scree fields. They are amazing creatures, really, and quite a hoot to have in camp. Along the way the forage eating grass and weeds, and need little to drink. A trailer isn't even necessary, as they are happy to ride in the back of the truck.
We were a little skeptical at first, having them along on this years archery elk hunt in the backcountry. But we are pleased to say it was a success, except for punching a tag. Maybe next year.

@@smithandrogue I like autum. The ticks are gone, it's cooler and the trees are amazing red, orange and yellow. In Florida there are only 2 seasons. Where are you from?

@@vikingmountainranchlife7447 that's awesome. Yeah we are from Great Falls Montana, on the eastern side of the Rockies. Spring has to be my favorite. To see everything bounce back from tough winters, and tulips sprout up out of nowhere. Pretty cool!

For sure. @PackGoatscom has a pretty rad channel. Dylan is The Committee's (what we call our little group) Goat Guy. I think he used Mark's channel as a resource for getting into it. @Fireproof do you have goats?
