Not all traditions are dead, there are some are worth preserving. The Waid Ranch branded its first animal in 1897. Since then thousands of cattle were raised and sold. In the old days the cattle were driven down to the railyard and sent off to the slaughter. The Brand was the mark of ownership. Without a brand a rancher could not prove he was selling his cattle or his neighbors.
Today the brand still serves a practical purpose, especially when fences go down. Beyond that it is a symbol of pride and an homage to the past. Each brand is unique with over 50,000 registered Montana Livestock Brands maintained by the Brands Enforcement Division Brand Office.
Ranching is more than a Job, it is a lifestyle; no days off. It is about enjoying what you do and having the mentality to get stuff done, even when the odds are against you. Its about having nerves of steel and a strong back. And its about family and tradition, about a love for the land and the animals. The Waid Ranch is a special place, truly God's country.

Amazing video I loved it reminded me of the times we had to Trail a cattle from the ranch to town to load onto the trains because it was too muddy to get in. What an experience cold and raining had so many clothes on couldn't get back on my horse when I got off. But it was so enjoyable. Take care all of you and be safe

😂😂😂😂😂........ @palomo1ful Give it a rest....😂😂😂😂 Go watch the clip from the movie bury my heart at wounded knee and the meeting between sitting bull and the Army in officer. Before you comment about something, you really should at least be somewhat knowledgeable..... BUT......like the other guy says,if you feel guilty..... GIVE THEM YOUR HOUSE.
