When I was a kid (back in the 80s) I went on a school trip to the seaside in Kent and went to an amusement park which had incredible Ghost Train which blew my little mind 10 year old mind. I've always wondered where it had been and I think this might well have been it but with new artwork. It's amazing to think that it's still going after all these years!
Another nice vlog, really enjoyed. Visited this amusement park over the years growing up and aswell travelled on RH&DR / Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway to it. Really good location with again another underrated amusement park. Little fact for you, there once was a log flume here, but a small one which went up a climb and down into splash. Good memories, but no longer obviously there as it used to be in section where now Caterpillar sits. Never rode ghost train, but willing to give it ago and might at some point visit and experience while visiting RH&DR. Cheers for recording, uploading and sharing & look forward to seeing future videos aswell hopefully another vlog from this park? 😀👍
I live about 20 minutes from this park and visiting this park both as a kid and adult I can say that the Caterpillar Ride shouldn't be going that slow usually you go alot faster. Might have been weather conditions throughout the day that caused it. The ghost train is my favourite when I visit there. Such memories as a kid. If you come down this way again I recommend going on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway. A little steam train that takes you there and at one of the stops is a model railway village museum all included in your train ticket 😊
I love dymchurch. Parents used to always take me and my sister there. Where the caterpillar is, they used to have a mini log flume. If I remember rightly, they used to have a really old rickety house there too. Absolutely love dymchurch. Might have to go back there soon with MY kids.
This is where you shine Shawn just here. A classic vlog, you never spoil the ride for anyone and you're so quiet and under the radar so other park visitors can enjoy their day without you doing your intro 7 times. Lovely footage. Also I love your taglines. Keep on ridin. How did you come up with that? Also cue those titles. I love that too but I don't know why. I have no idea what it means. But you are a hero to so many. Go and treat yourself to some chicken tenders just here.
Did this park 2 years ago with my nephew(his first ever visit) and combined it with a trip on the RHDR . It’s a great little park definitely worth doing in combination with a trip on the miniature railway. Always brings back memories of going when I was a kid.
I rode that ghost train way back in ‘84 (when I was 4) and been back to it many times for the nostalgia. The scenery and theming get an occasional update - it used to all be luminous and glow in the dark paint. I was terrified of that ride at the time! 😂😂
I remember going on it about 1986, I've always remembered how it would slam through the doors and burst outside, it seemed so fast. I also seem to recall there being a hall of mirrors and a cake walk ride (where you have the moving platforms like in a fun house) in the park and a helter skelter as well.
Haven't even watched the vlog but this is childhood memories for me. Its great to see someone review this funfair and I'm there in 2 weeks so can't wait. The ghost trains looks much scarier than last yr
After just watching my vlog back from 3yrs ago in 2018 they have added some new rides including the Dumbos, the Apple section on the coaster is new, loads of new artwork on the Ghost Train and the Dodgem cars are new so they have had some investment so that’s great to see
4:38 I really appreciate that you show us the tokens at these places - I know it's stupid but I LOVE seeing them! I have a little collection going and it's cool to see colours/shapes/sizes I don't have!
Loved that and yeah I did think about the houses when I first saw, the insta story.. You look like your in someone's back door /garden.. Lol 😂🚪thanks for the content as usual fab 👍😉
Great video! I see that colossus has been removed off the Thorpe park app after being closed all yesterday, do you know if it will be back in operation soon?
Lol more like slow worm than caterpillar 😂 that was funny . Really enjoyed these trio of parks . Thanks shawn for sharing with us. Love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
The place just looks odd. I turned to the Mrs and said it looks like a sign has just been stuck up around someone back door,a few minutes later you pretty much said the same thing.
Hi Shawn, wow loved the video me and my family love watching them, you were literally so close to me we are such big fans. I’m in ashford so not far away. Fun fact my dad used to work at that park when he was younger and we love going there. It’s cool. Hope you and Charlotte are good. Love to you both :)
Lovely day out for the younger kids especially if you include the small train. I live just up road from the hythe station. They also do a Santa express on the winter
Hey there Shawn last vlog but I’m very looking forward to seeing wonderful Charlotte on Chessington world of adventures can’t wait for that video and 6 days to go in till my birthday 16th of august on a Monday I love you Shawn and Charlotte xxxx
That ghost train really has had some upgrades since I went on it. Before it was just UV paint everywhere and no props but now I think that’s a really good one.
If you havent been on the romney hythe and dymchurch railway I recommend it. It is a miniature railway where one of the stops are 5 mins walk to this amusement park there is also a train museum that I believe comes with the price for the railway. And I personally think it will work amazingly on your other channel
Hey guys xxx Im heading to Oakwood this weekend (14th aug) and thorpe park FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER in September ( I CANNOT WAIT)...it has been YEARS since i last attended a theme park and it's about blinkin time too!!!!! really hope to catch you at one at some point to say "hello" xxx
I think it fair to say Shawn the bumper car you drove had serious tyre or wheel issues. The ghost train looked brilliant reminded me of the one at Blackpool Pleasure Beach👍😉
Shawn I just missed you I went in the morning / lunchtime and the caterpillar isnt usually that slow probably cause of the wind and great vlog and your bumper car was bumpy because it had a popped tire underneath because I had that one as well and the operator told me.
good job Shawn at Dymchurch Amusement Park, and not far from there the is Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, it is a good to ride on the railway, check it some time, keep the good work up Shawn, thumbs up to you.
I think the Apple on the coaster is new as it wasn’t on there where I visited a few years ago, also the Ghost train is the same layout as Terror Castle at Brean
The coaster is Farley new and it use to be a log flume (the coaster use to be where the flying elephants are and the rest of the space the coaster was they have now built a little shop)
Used to be a really scary haunted house in my childhood and this one time a guy in monkey suit went in the exit it’s sad it was removed and the crooked house x
Hello Shawn how are you I just catching up on your latest vlogs the weather looks not great on your latest vlogs is the stealth a good ride we are thinking of going to Thorpe park later this month we are going to pay that little bit more for fast track so we can go on all the rides
The Ghost Train has the same layout/track as the Terror Castle at Brean - though not the same content obviously. I can never remember which of the two of them was originally at the defunct Frontier Land in Morecombe - but if you watch videos of the Morecombe Ghost Train you’ll see it has the same layout. 👍🏻👍🏻
Took the kids a couple of days ago. The layout was pretty much identical to your video. I have no idea why they charge 3 tokens for the dodgems though. 10 quids worth of tokens is more than enough if you have kids under 6 though as that allows 2 of them at least one go each on every ride they can go on' on their own. Would have took them on a few others but daddy was lugging around all the bags lol.
1 play of Careless Whisper is a good respect for the tune... 2 plays of Careless Whisper ci consecutively and you're starting to worry how close the DJ is to a depressive meltdown maybe caused by an ex of theirs... 🤣
I’d tried to plan a trip to Dymchurch but even though I live only 31miles away as the crow flies, as I don’t drive it would be a round trip of nearly 6 hours involving multiple trains/buses, and even a taxi at one point just to ride a junior coaster and a ghost train. Shame, as I’d love to support these small parks otherwise. It the same with Old MacDonald’s and even Southend.
Before where the coaster is there use to be a amazing log flume and this coaster was in what I think is now a shop the log flume and 2 drops and you got soaked it’s a shame they got rid of it
Been many a time….. as I kid spent the day on the beach , dymchurch or st Mary’s bay, (short 10 minutes walk) then pack up early evening and spend a couple of hours in the park and the brilliant arcade with the 2p machines 😻, and have done this over the years with my 3 kids, now they have grown up I’m waiting for grandkids so I can do it all again.. oh and fish n Chips in Sandgate. Unfortunately looks like they have taken the Topsy Turvy house away… that’s I believe had been on the site since the 60’s… anyone know what’s happened?
My parents surprised me with a trip today ! I remember going on swarm twice and lots of other rides like , vortex , rush , nemesis inferno and stealth !!!!
