Jump in to the first in a three-part series detailing how to use dynamic components to make a picket fence. In this episode, learn how to create a post and beams and set attributes to control component size and ensure even spacing.
Excellent tutorial. I particularly like how clearly and methodically Erin explain each step. Also i like when he explain steps that require deferent keyboard in window and mac. I am using a mac
Have been following your great series and you have inspired me to do a kitchen in dynamic components. But I am having a problem with an L shaped unit any ideas. Keep up the good work, thanks
This fence component lesson, and the follow ups, are a fantastic DC example. But, please add an other lesson on how to create a DC, call it a cube, that can be copied anywhere in the model space, or within a nested component, which can then have an onClick Behavior to move the DC along the Z axis some distance on the first Interact tool click, and back to its original Z position on the second Interact tool click. Also, the onClick behavior needs to be unique for each instance of the DC.
Hi Aaron, thanks for your videos. I learn e.g. dynamic components. How would I get the shelves evenly spaced in the kitchen wall cabinet frame, if I have three different heights in the component, e.g. 71.5cm, 91.8cm and 102cm. Thank you if you have time to focus on this. t. Pentti from Finland
Did you know you can use user specified dimensions with scale tool? Grab a handle with click and release. Drag in direction of desired growth. Click to place handle. Then without clicking anything, type your measurement with symbol (I.e. 54mm) Then hit enter.
Thank you! I've always struggled with the Scale Tool's measurement method. I don't think in terms of how many times the original or decimal places I want my end result to be. ☕
LOL Do you really think it would have helped? From what I can tell, if it's just you, stuff like that is easier to just build without alot of song and dance beforehand. But if you have one person designing the space and another whole different person building it, then plans are useful. ☕
Its a "rail" not a beam. If you google "post and rail" you'll get fence stuff. "post and beam" and you'll get Houses and barns. Just a pick-nit. great video, short and sweet. look forward to the next two. LOL
