Excellent Video! I have one doubt though... I work within HR and it's really a common scenario to require that the CEO should be able to not only read but also change data owned by the Sales Manager (3 - 4 hierarchical depth below him).... What's the workaround for that considering that using Hierarchical security the CEO would have only read access to this hierarchical depth? Thanks!
Hi Daniel, the hierarchy security works over the security model and does not necessarily replace it. What does that mean? Well, it means that irrespective of the hierarchy, what roles are assigned to you or your team are important. D365 provides you with lost or roles and the privileges that come with it. Also you can configure desired roles. Typically your CEO would have a role similar or close to to System Administrator or System Customizer which will allow him/her to change record or another owner. There are various aspects to Security in D365 and it may take some time to get heads around.
