I like superflex for dynasty because it makes the list of relevant rookies larger and therefore makes rookie picks more valuable, which gives you more assets to trade with and for.

This is true, out of the 10 dynasty channels this is the only one that barely touches on superflex. The others assume superflex vs the Ballers assume 1QB. The Ballers are my OG channel so I am the most loyal to them...but they need to get with the times.

That seems to be the more vocal opinion on the internet, but it seems to be so hard to prove one way or the other. For whatever reason, the data is not readily available for any platforms that I can find. Given how new SF popularity is compared to how long fantasy football has existed, it's hard for me to believe that it actually outnumbers 1 QB in the way that people seem to believe. Now, if we are just looking at startup drafts on Sleeper over the last couple years, yeah I could definitely see that, but that is not really a significant number of the total existing dynasty leagues.

We get it. You don't like Superflex. You also can't just say I drafted WRs early, but had Burrow get injured. Good luck getting Burrow in the 3rd of a SF start-up.

Flacco and Minshew essentially won me a championship last season! Both because I started them down the stretch AND because I kept them off other rosters. Always rostering at least one backup QB because you never know.

As a 22-year vet to redraft leagues, I recently just did my first ever startup draft for a dynasty League and it happens to be a superflex. They aren't kidding with the QB panic. The first seven pics in our league were quarterback and sitting in the 11th spot, I wasn't sure what to do. I was happy I went with an elite wide receiver instead of a QB and ended up waiting till round 3 to grab the 12th quarterback in our league. A total of 16 quarterbacks went in the first three rounds.

How do you guys feel about changing a league in year two from standard to superflex? I feel like our teams would be completely different if we knew it would be superflex from the jump

You could but I'd recommend making the change with 2 years notice. For example, let everyone know you intend to switch to superflex at the start of the 2026 season. That way all teams have ample time to prepare

@@ColinNasty I play in a few 1qb dynasty leagues that are deep enough there is no streaming QBs, most have 2, some hoard more still. Browning, Brissett, Jamis are the best options on waivers/FA right now

Last year I traded 2 3rd rd picks, 1 for Brissett and 1 for Baker. Ended up winning and Baker gave me great value QB2 play all year. Morale of the story bargin bin for the win

Safe to assume Superflex strategies are fully applicable with 2QB leagues?

Not quite, more applicable than 1QB but not really straight forward. You might have a stacked WR core and feel that's the better route to go. You might be in a TE Premium league that gives a significant bump to that position. Superflex I would say is more about a well rounded roster than high end QBs like 2QB leagues.

I find it odd that CJ Stroud is considered a defacto top 4 QB but Jordan Love is looked at as a middling second tier QB. Last year was both their rookie years (first years starting anyways) and Love was better.

I love Stroud, but he has surprisingly little rushing upside. I think of him as captain of the b tier. I think a Phillip Rivers type career wouldn't surprise me.

I think the biggest difference for Superflex for me is almost all pf my late draft picks (rounds 20-30) are backup QBs because they have the best chance to increase in value and I can flip them to someone who had QB injuries or benchings

The thing with super flex is not that i think i have to take a subpar qb just to compete, it's that 90% of your league will gobble up all the QBS in the first few rounds so if you don't follow suit you will literally run the risk of not having a startable QB2. The format and how most players approach it forces you to take the subpar QB early and hope the other position players fall down the board since everyone is going with QBs to start.

The perception that SF has become the predominant fantasy format I think has a lot to do with the best ball and dfs betting crowds that dominate the online fantasy talk spaces, since they all seem to vastly prefer playing in SF style formats for all their league types. And granted, they are the most active segment of the fantasy community year round, so it stands to reason that their preferences have become the more prevalent style to discuss. But 1 QB imo is arguably still the more common and prefered setting for casual home league players who do make up a large chunk of fantasy football spaces even still

I won my title in part because of Carr actually. 1 qb league, I had burrow go down and then way at the end of the season t-law was going through so many injuries. I traded for Carr and was able to start him 2 times and won the title! Also Carr is going to have a bounce back this year with a new and much improved offensive system. Great but I think!

My grail setting format is 2QB, 3wr, 2rb, 1 flex, 1 TE (with TEP) .5PPR It allows qb importance and wr importance with how the league is going to RBCC, i think 3wr, 1flx is superior to 2wr, 2flx

I think that it’s based on expectation. He had a worse year last year than guys like CJ Stroud, Love, and Dak on a per game basis. When he finished 8th overall, there weren’t very many QBs that played all 17 games (he averaged 20.5 ppg). When people have been considering him a dynasty QB1 lock, it’s not very impressive. But yeah, he’s not too bad. And he’s gonna be the guy for a long time in Jacksonville it looks like.

The Lawrence slander is hilarious. I can’t believe they even mentioned him in the same breath as Fields. Lawrence is on his way to getting a fat extension and Fields had almost no interest around the league even as a backup. In a “down” year Lawrence was still QB13 and he’s still 24.

Super flex is not only the future but it’s already the predominant format for dynasty. Jason is always complaining about QB scoring being Brocken in favor of rushing QBs. I’d say single QB fantasy leagues are Broken for favoring the RB position and devaluing the QB position. Which is opposite in real life. Also adding a 2nd QB creates scarcity at the position, thus opening up more trading opportunities. At the end of the day we are in dynasty to trade!

simply untrue. I run 40 1QB Dynasty leagues - all with 12, 14, 16, 18 or 20 teams. No one is clamoring for Superflex. There are over 100 different managers in these leagues. stop being a lemming.

These guys play in only a handful of leagues vs 30-40+ like other channels. Because of this they may have very different oppinions on things and what i would say is they are much better fits for people playing in home leagues rather than competitive leagues.

Caveat to playing in 30-40 leagues is that you lose conviction in your rankings, or rankings become meaningless and its just a numbers game as you're bound to win at least 1 league with that approach. If I expect a player is going to do well, I'm going to have conviction and draft him appropriately, then repeat for every other player based on my rankings. If I'm playing in 30-40 leagues, I'm either doing the same process (and this isn't my job so that would be exhausting), or I'm forced to abandon my convictions based on what players are taken

@@Tendrilsofdarkness I agree with your take, in fact I can't imagine it's anything more than stressful being in that many leagues (I'm in 5 which I feel is a good number for someone not really trying to to win any money, just have fun). I think my point is that they aren't saturated in the market as much which is important for trades and drafting. Other than that, draft and acquire the guys you feel good about. I drafted Keon Coleman in all but one league simply so I could rename my dynasty team.

Do they not realize Keenan Allen isn't the person they're plugging in their SF? He was starting anyways. It's the worst guy on your roster that's going in that spot if you don't have a 2nd qb. It's Gabe Davis or mike williams.

This is only half true. In a startup, a rookie draft, or a trade, you aren't choosing between a QB2 and a fringe bench guy. If you could have a QB2 or Keenan, either way they are replacing the fringe guy.

I think you guys are out of touch on how many roster spots the average dynasty league has. Almost all of my leagues start 3 WR and 3+ flex so this notion of a QB 2 replacement coming off my bench in the form of a WR is just unrealistic. My bench players in leagues this size are projected 8-10 points, not 15 like my QB2s. Edit: Also, your disdain for superflex is hurting the pod. You're already fringe in the dynasty community with the main show being so redraft focused so when you act like you're doing us a favor by talking about superflex, it's off putting. Every dynasty league I'm in is superflex and everyone I know only plays superflex so idk man, just do what the audience wants or go back to being the redraft guys only.

You can get a discount, and is definitely worth it. Other websites rankings are weak . Also if you spend 40 bucks but play in big money leagues is even more worth. Last year I won like 4K

It's not hard to look at stats that SF leagues are 2- 3x more common than 1QB leagues. Nobody has a bench Flex position that projects to out score a QB 25. Rename the podcast to 1QB dynasty podcast.

Search trade databases for a player, I used Dameon Pierce. 30 deals last 2 days in 2 QB, 15 deals last 2 days in 1QB. When I look for start up or sleeper orphans, majority SF.

I run over 40 1QB free Dynasty leagues on Fleaflicker. I've got plenty of orphans that need a managers, if you're interested. (I've been playing / commissioning fantasy football for 35 years, so you can count on the leagues being legit even though they're free).
