Elegant simplicity, a beautiful combination of vintage and modern for excellent sound. While I love full blown systems, there is a lot to be said for a classic integrated and a set of high end monitors... the irreducible minimum. Nicely done.
Wonderful. Do You live in Portugal? I am seriously considering a 2nd hand A-S2100/ CD-S1000 and the very same Dynaudio speakers, it sounds alive, and agile, yet warm. Fun fact: I live 25 km from the Dynaudio factory in Denmark.
I live in Israel. Take in consideration that that the Yamaha is 90 watt and the SP40 are bookshelf and also a bit power hungry. So the room should be not too big. The bass of this set up will be not very low and rumbling but very fast, precise and textured. It is really enjoyable IMO! You need neutral cables. This set up will be magical.
I am going nuts deciding on either a vintage Marantz for 3 grand or a brand new Yamaha AS-1200 that has a warranty AND a remote control. I listen mainly through headphones. Do you hear plenty of bass through your Yamaha’s headphone jack?
@@igaldins I bought a Topping sandwich last year. An A90 and D90 with a Lokius EQ in between. And I STILL cannot get enough bass on old rock CD’s or Classical CD’s. So last week I pulled my Onkyo A-8067 - which has tone controls - out of hibrination and I was amazed that the bass sounded better! The thing is, the Onk does not have a remote control and constantly getting up to adjust the volume is like having a turntable again. Like being back to the stone age. Thinking about buying the Yamaha in a few days, even though it seems odd that your bass control would not give your headphones enough bass.
@@spiritualarchitect4276 Yamaha AS1200 bass is very neutral. Not heavy and not too warm. It’s very precise with resolution and speed. If you want big, warm rumbling bass , Yamaha as1200 might be not your amp. Marantz sounds differently, I advise to listen to both. Both have different strengths. (Never heard Topping, this company is not in my interest range)
@@igaldins I just bought a 1200. Plugged the headphones in. Played the 3 tracks that had NO bass on my old rig: “Mars, The Bringer of War”, “Norwegian Wood” and “Honky Tonk Woman”. THERE BE BASS!!! And the bass sounded just as you described it. Very pleased. Though I am listening to it on the floor. I did not realize how BIG it was out the back. Had to order a whole new stereo rack.
@@spiritualarchitect4276 Wow! Congratulations! Yeah it’s huge 😄 Im happy that I managed to describe the sound correctly, sometimes it’s challenging. This amp needs a couple of months to settle down and it will sound even a bit better. Keep in mind it needs ventilation, specially on the rear side. Enjoy! 😁
Quick question - can you play music via the ifi stream and get that to trigger on the as1200 from standby? Basically asking if you can start streaming from standby with phone alone from a distance
@@bjwal6 It actually can. I had AS1200 on a trigger output from the streamer for a while. I think the amp was always waking up with 'Main Direct' input ON so I had switch the input. I eventually disconnected the trigger link. Must look into it again. Regards
I have these connected to an Emotiva XSP-1 Reference Preamp and use a NAD c298 amplifier for them and a Rel HT-1003 Sub getting its signal from the emotiva preamp. This sub blends very nice with the Dyns. I am thinking as recommended to use the TX9i Sub and use the high level connection. If I do I will update.
@@bartoszri Yes, the AS1200 can be endgame amplifier. Even compared to my McIntosh it is a good amp. Not superb but really good. Just don’t pair it with bright or forward speakers like proac.
gotta be the best sounding bad sounding amp ive heard yet i dont understand how or why yamaha has always managed to make such big heavy lifeless amps when the best amps are always so minimal its almost like they arent even engineering for sound quality but for theoretical speculative sound quality based on redundant “audiophile” designs that have always proven to be top tier midfi at best
Thanks for your opinion. I can say that this AS-1200 amp sounds fantastic! I really loved its sound and still miss it sometimes. And the build quality is among the best of them all, and it looks stunningly beautiful 😍
Typical Dynaudio texture and Yamaha character. The natural of this Yamaha amplifier can fully deliver the music taste of this pair of Dynaudio speakers. While this Yamaha integrated amplifier seems not having adequate power to drive the speakers vividly.
@@yippie6862 I have the schiit Bifrost multibit gen5 on the way. It will replace the schiit modius. Will be interesting to see how significantly the sound will change. Don’t forget that I’m filming with a smartphone.
@@georgedomse My bad. So it seems your set up is better. Still, those Evokes 20 constantly were screaming : "More air, more air, we're literally dying here, move us to a bigger room !" While those Special 40s were like "Look at how well we control bass in this ridiculously cheap space!".
@@SacreDro Hi. All my system is changed now. It is impossible to have all components at the same level all the time. Anyway Im still with Ifi. Ifi neo stream. It’s a fine sounding streamer. Powered by Teddy linear PS.
@@quazar912 Bass is very subjective. What is a good bass for you can be lacking bass for someone else. More bass in the system that is showed in this video will obscure midrange details or bass texture because of room modes. You have a very big woofers in klipsch heritage speakers but the are not bass heavy. On the contrary you have the Bouchard speakers reaching 35hz with less then 8inch woofers and with small cabinets.
