Coming as soon as I can get another good 8 speed at the shop. I want to make a video in a live truck and not just explaining it at my desk. I’m sure I’ll have one within the next week or so.
I’ve had decent luck with just changing the oil pressure sensor and soaking the connector in brake cleaner at the oil pressure sensor and the PCM connector. Once you replace the oil pressure sensor and stop it from pushing oil through the connector it’ll stop filling the pcm connector. I thought that was the craziest thing the first time I saw that years ago on a Chrysler vehicle. Amazing how far oil can wick through a harness.
I'm looked up the cam that comes in that 5.3 450hp crate engine SUM-8713R1 and it says it recommends a 2500 stall to be used with that cam. But when you read the overview for the 5.3 450hp it does not say anywhere on the page about using a 2500 stall with that engine and cam combo. That might be a small oversight by summit racing.
Hey brother I have a 05 Yukon xl with the 5.3/4Lslippy and I was curious whether or not you have a video on trans tuning that particular trans or not. I’d like to make it shift a little better but I’m not sure where to start. I have hp tuners and I know how to do some stuff but I’m hesitant about trans tuning as I don’t want to break anything. If you do, could you send it to me here or tell me the name of the video? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🤙🏼
I did a 6.0 swap in my Silverado. The 6.0 is bored 30 over, BTR stage 2 truck cam 212/218, 243 heads, long tube headers & 50lbs injectors on the stock truck intake manifold. Also, still have the 4L60 in it with the stock 3.42 gears & stock muffler, for now. I just got it dyno the other day. My 6.0 made 300hp to the wheel. That doesn’t sound right to me. I just want to get your opinion on that.
@mirabalmedia try something like sloppy stage 2 that's a 228/230 cam, it doesn't have to be that cam, try a better intake manifold and a better flow exhaust, we made 380 to the wheels on a heavy 08 silverado. Don't forget a 3200 3600 stall converter, also some 410 gears
Put a bigger BTR truck cam in it. Don’t settle for that other junk. Dyno numbers don’t matter in the long run, take it to the track and see what it traps.
I was trying to reach you on Facebook I'm going to try and ask the question here I was wanting to know if you have had to swap a 4l60e to a th400 and how to make the ecm read with out the transmission control. I can't find a segment swap to work with the OP number that the ECM runs on any place to go and look for more information thanks
I know if you got a Holley terminator and you go with a drive by cable the transmission will shift based on what kind of spring you install in the transmission above the transmission pan
When you have a small pulley on a high output alternator like a mechman RPM is not your friend. I would put a stock pulley size on that alternator. Plus if you look at the alternator itself it looks like there's a lot of belt slippage so you might need a new tensioner also
I think it basically creates a high resistance because it’s not a conductor I’ve had eop leak into engine harness’s before and I always put a sensor and pigtail and I just take sections off and strip until there is no oil in the wire
Damn that’s pretty sad. My 4.8 on a mustang dyno did 287hp at 4700 rpm. We cut the 3rd gear pull short because I still had street tires on it and wheel speed was 135mph. Second gear pull was around 390hp at 6,000. It was still making power so I don’t know why the tuner stopped the pull. Tuner said this would be close to crank horsepower. Anyway, we guestimated 300-310 at the wheel for the correction. 4.8, mild cam, milled heads, intake, tb, injectors, headers, flowmaster super 10 exhaust.
Sounds like a dyno that needs calibrated. 4.8 don't make that kind of numbers on a mustang dyno without boost or nitrous. Those numbers are more like a 5.3 with a mild cam.
I mean they should figure out the alternator and some high flow cats or no cats seems like shobe done before the tuning is dont i mean like 6000 seems low for that big of a camshaft
Yup, I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado with an aluminum 5.3 799 heads with a stage 2 v2 BTR truck cam and full emissions egr/cats and made 315 hp to the wheel
