I swear snubnose vans are fun asf, I've got an '86 chevy astro with a bored out 4.3L with only two front seats and the stock exhaust cut off from the front of the cat to the tailpipe and that was an easy 250+lbs so I slapped an 24" straight pipe into a magnaflow super 40 series and its perfect. Im guessing the mystery machine didnt come equipped with antisway bars

That P.O.S. is a Suzuki Carry Gen 8. They also were marketed in different forms like the Bedford Rascal etc., all of them used the same chassis, drive train and parts bin . I owned a Gen 7 St90V up until 2 years ago. They are just as slow as you showed, but with headers, straight pipe, ported cyl head, bigger jets for the carb and a different engine block got it up to over 60 horses. I could do a WHOPPING (sarcastic but also enthusiastic and terrifying ) 95mph @7000 rpm. Still miss it, did donuts quicker than my rwd BMW. When I see that blue thing it brings back memories of all the swearing and frustration getting the thing to run. Once it did, it put a smile on your face like nothing else. You can put other motors in 'em but it has to be canted. Good luck with this one, a 2 rotor will be plenty for that frame.

While serving in Korea we had both those vans and the cargo version for our off base transportation. Them were called BONGO vans, we used to try and see hiw fast you could go with them on the freeway into Seoul. This brings me back!
