Thanks a lot! I’ve bought the airwrap for just one week and watched many tutorials. Your suggestions are the most helpful for keeping the curls lasting. I have fine hair, live in Hong Kong which is extremely humid. The most helpful tip is clipping the clips onto the scalp. I tried it last night and I don’t have to redo the curls as usual. 💪
Out of all the other videos on RU-vid i can relate to someone with long voluminous black hair. Thanks for putting together the look i am going for... Dyson makes you look like you walked out of a 5 star salon. You would have to walk around wearing any weird hair rollers.
I got the Dyson it doesn’t last, now I see what’s the reason I was using heat protection and it was silky. Thank you so much for this video. I’ll try this new technique 😍😍😍🙌🙌🙌
Should I really use the smoothing brush before ? I have very thin hair and it’s completely dry after this… so I spray it with some water to make it a bit more wet so the Dyson curls should hold - which makes it frizzy again (& the whole process of smoothing seems unnecessary after that) well and my curls still didnt hold so … i fear that i really have to pin them all up for them to work :,( i got 0 volume too… maybe im just a flathair person 😢 on a positive note: my hair was smooth all day and it looked very flawless. like ive been to the hairdresser :) the dyson works perfect for that! i reallllly hope to get the hang of it and learn how to make the curls last
For those of you looking into this because your hair has split ends, damage - maybe from lightening. Hands down it is ALL about the hair cut. My hairstyling is 3 1/2 hours away, he's been cuttting my hair for 15+ years and every time I go to a salon in Austin (usually b/c I am deperate for a haircut / re-style) i always regret it. the way my friend cuts my hair, it looks SO GOOD for MONTHS as it's growing out! I have never seen anyone physically cut my hair in so many directions and so FAST! Again, nothing like my friend Noel Castro of 20+ years at Satori Salon in Houston Texas in the Arts Distrct / Mid Town area! ....and he's straight. LOL😁 Cuts the BEST women's hair ever, always is invited to a Bride's wedding who is his client. Ladies, if your hair stylist is barley moving when they are cutting your hair and taking forever, they are most likely beginners! Also, NEVER have your hair colorist cut your hair too. They rarely know how to "really" cut hair. I spent $449 at a hair salon in Austin, TX to get my hair lightened / balyage (rip off by the way) and the next day (after the curling she did went flat) that's when i could see how bad one side was! I had to go back, thus spending more to tip the new girl who cut my hair a million times better. Also, tell your stylist NOT to curl your hair after a cut and blow dry - yaw'll a lot of them do this to cover how bad their haircut WAS. Took me years to notice this even when I just needed a trim. Its sad how most Hair Stylists can't cut hair good and all you ask for is some layering. Don't even get me started on Curtain Bangs now 2 girls at super expensive hair salons here in Austin COULD NOT cut right.
First time using my Dyson air wrap.. just had a shower and I used the blow dryer and right after that I used the barrel and now it’s been a week and I still have bouncy curly hair! I didn’t wash my hair just to see how long my curls will last. My hair is waist long and thick I also didn’t use any hair products.
I don't curl my hair much, but I can't wait for the long barrel! So sad, I bought it almost 4 weeks ago directly from dyson. It showed in stock, bought it, and then got an email saying it's on backorder for 4 weeks. I sure hope I get a notif sometime next week.
@@rockinchunli09 Nope. But I called today and they said they have the old version barrels (the one that come in two) in fuscia in stock. They placed a new complimentary order for a different color in the new version for all of the sizes. The 0.8 and 1.2 in Nickel is supposedly available and the 1.6 is on backorder for 2 weeks or so. I originally ordered the copper, but it keeps getting backordered.
@@trance_angel_4965 Dyson said they have some available now, but not in the same color I ordered. I just went with a different color and get it exchanged when they become available.
amazing tutorial!! your hair are amazing, so beautiful ... it actually conviced me not to buy this product, as I for sure would end up not using it in th end :D
your hair are faaab,I have fine hair but also frizzy dry, its a hard one, can I use a serum after I do the curls to get that frizzy out at the ends? thanks
My hair twirls and gets tighter tangled when I pull it while it’s on. I’m so tired of this airwrap. I also have the new teal Sephora version so idk if it’s just the new design that sucks ?
I have super long hair to my tail bone. I blow dry then brush smooth apply serum.. then tip my head upside down and twist the hair into a bun up on my head.. do my makeup.. have a coffee. Then let down the hair and spray some good hair spray and I always have big curls. That last the day or two. Add a mousse when wet if you really want a long lasting curl. When you tie up the bun be sure to not crinkle the last bit of hair at the end.. just try use clips. I've fine kinky hair. This is what works best for me and I've tryed everything
Same. Tailbone length, and I twist it into a bun. While warm off after blowdrying. It gives it a wave. Not big curls though. And I have to leave it that way for hours.
Bought the newest Dyson airwrap and returned it. I get that there is better strategies to make the curls stick and look fuller but why go through all the hassle when my curling wand gives me perfect waves in a fraction of the time. Also didn't like how big and bulky it was and how much space all the attachments took up in my bathroom. But to each their own :)
@@Maria-fj6tq yea same. I never learned to curl my hair with a curling iron, but I got the air wrap to lessen heat damage. As a beginner, it was really helpful because I have never burned myself and the air wrap wraps my hair, without me having to touch it. As for the curls, I just leave it in it’s shape and it ends up fine.
Seems like a ton of work with a $600 blow dryer, when you could just use the Revlon blowdryer brush and a curling iron for a total of like $100. Also the results will last better, the time it takes is quicker, and results are more intense with the latter
girl i thought the same thing!!! just just recently gave into it becuse my revlon broke and then i bought the hot tools but but then that was like damaging my hair 😭 just got the air wrap to see what the hype was about and now i understand the hype.
My husband gifted me one of these last year and I hate it 😬 It is so much work to use! Special product, three different attachments, sectioning..does anyone have some “I ain’t got all day” tips? 😂
Look into the chi spin n curl they have a 1.25” barrel or a 1” barrel, can’t burn yourself, uses ceramic which is supposed to be better for your hair, and just does the work for you.
My hair is tailbone length so no hope for me I guess. But i did the curls on my daughter whos hair is much shorter and it didnt hold on her either. How can they charge almost a freaking grand. And its actually rather time consuming. Not impressed.
If i pay 500 dollars, I expect this to outperform my curler in ever way. I should not have to do a single thing to make it work. Not for 500 dollars. i use no product and my curls last two days with my curling iron. 2 hours with Dyson. Major fail. Don't buy this for curling. It's a major fail.
I think the problem with the airwrap is the marketing. People see the curling wand on the dyson and think curls- because (duh) it makes the most sense. But, this product was literally designed for the people that go to the salon for blowouts because they don't get the same bouncy result with their round brush and dryer at home. Part of why it is so expensive, (besides it being niche), is because its main demographic was supposed to be people that frequent drybar/ can afford a wash + blowdry 2x a week at the salon. It's meant to give the volume + bouncy blowout effect, not beachwaves or curls from a curling iron. So it makes sense that people who had been lead to think the dyson is just a healthier curling wand are disappointed. You can totally use a regular round brush and dryer for this, just a bigger learning curve. You can get the same effect by very loose curls with a curling iron and brushing them- just more heat and you still have to blow dry first. Blow dry brushes also work, but the damage it does to your crown area is very hard to repair- vs regular irons/hot tools that mostly damage the ends of your hair. Either way, the dyson airwrap is not a tool that replaces a curling iron at all, and I wish there was more transparency. It does give you a nice blowout though! I hope this helps :)
This was a great video but this is crazy to me. This is so much stinkin effort to get lasting curls. The whole reason I bought the air wrap was for ease of styling. But it’s such a pain in the butt and not worth it. It sits on my shelf unused while I get the fast long lasting curls that I want in like 5 minutes with my flat iron. And no pinning necessary. The air wrap is just not for me.
@@samantharuiz2482 yea it’s less damaging cuz it doesn’t do anything. I can get the same results airdrying with a good spray and a brush. It’s just not for me and my hair type.
Def not for everybody. I have one and I use the hair dryer, straight, and curl brush more. I wouldn't buy the airwrap just for the sole of wanting to curl their hair. But then again, it's less damaging on the hair. I've had it for a year now and I have yet to notice split ends and super dry hair, which I normally do.
@@FootSoldier66 then you're using it wrong. 100% of complaints 'this doesnt work' is due to customers not knowing the function of the item, and then they return it,thinking its the product but its actually their lack of knowledge. Your flat iron curls wont even last 1 day,not to mention the amount of hairspray ppl need these days to get a look. Not cool or healthy.
@@raeesamoosa7669 not using it wrong but thanks for the assumption and belittling! 🙄 I know a ton of people do use this tool incorrectly but I am not one of them. Even had a pro try it on me and still no luck. Curls fall flat in minutes. Just because it’s expensive and well made does not mean it will magically work on every hair type and in every climate. Climate has a huge effect on my hair.
Pinning the curls are too much work for me. And I don’t use the cool shot. What I do is, I spray a light hairspray onto my curls after each section and let them cool or set as long as possible. In the meanwhile I do my makeup etc. Then I comb them carefully.
They all make my hair frizzy, and the curls never last more then 5 mins. I’d like to see peoples hair hours after they curl their hair with the hair wrap. I bought mine thinking it would be fast and easy long lasting curls. WRONG!! Paid $600 for a blow dryer then I have to curl my hair with a curling iron. Way to many heat products after using the Dyson. Who the heck wants to pin each curl after you paid $600 for it to give you curls? BS!! I can’t see people buying a $600 curling iron to pin each curl to keep a curl. Hair dressers would be there all day doing peoples hair!! So my Dyson sits all alone in its box!!
