Okay but liiiiiike, you didn’t even try with the dupe? You just threw your hair at the dupe and said 🤷🏼♀️ oh no it doesn’t take my hair. Then with the dyson you actually took the time to section your hair correctly. Not a very good example.
Dyson has changed my hair game. I love it. If you wrap your hair around the wand, it gives you beach waves, I imagine you can do the same thing with the dupe. Dyson is ridiculously expensive and just is out of reach for many many women, when arguably you can get a dupe with quite similar results.
This is the best video I have seen comparing the dyson and the dupe. I appreciate that you kept the actual sound of the dryers. Great job, it made me feel like I made an informed choice. Thank you so much!!! ❤️👏
This is a really bad example because you're not actually positioning the tool properly. You need hold it at the end of the hair section and then once it grabs the ends you slowly pull towards the root....
Hi Ayda! Would you be willing to demonstrate the proper way to do it. I see that you have very long hair from your profile icon. My hair is similar. Do you have a demo on your channel that you could link me to? Thank you.
Do you notice you held dyson side hair above the dyson… gravity was helping. On cheap side you held hair under/away from device and relied on device to pull hair in. It’s probably not intentional but when doing hair how you angle and hold device matters.. and how you direction the hair matters. It affects volume, root lift, curl patterns.
Nice video thanks! PSA if you want your curls to last roll it up straight away while it's hot and put a little alligator clip in and leave it for an hour or so do your makeup get ready etc then they will be set and last Soo much longer 💞
First of all, let me congratulate you on your many achievements. Miss California and Miss America runner-up are majestic achievements. I recently stumbled upon your channel.I love it. However, I believe that many people love your channel for the tips and tricks you share, not only women but men as well. I myself am a former title-holder of Mister Youth World Indonesia 2018. Perhaps, specialized episode for male pageants would be awesome. Not many channels do that! Regards!
Congratulations on your 2018 title! That’s phenomenal! After reading your comment I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for experts in this space - I’d love to interview someone who can help provide tips and insights for male pageants. I love what you’re doing and what you stand for!
If you're wanting your curls to stay try pinning them up as soon as you take it down. If there's still heat left that heat will just pull your curl down, but if you pin it up it the heat will retain that curl better (does that make any sense bc in my head it did) 🤣🤣
You're so beautiful and this video was extremely helpful! Your hair is so nice but now I see the effect of the original Dyson is not what I'm looking for. I feel like it's for slightly fine hairs so they can have more volume while I have plenty of hair and volume and just want nice sexy curls without burning myself and to also be kinda travel friendly ( so hot rollers are a no because of that) Most helpful video on RU-vid honestly
Desislava, you have gorgeous hair too! I really appreciate your kind comment and that you took the time to leave this nice feedback. A few weeks ago, I was looking on RU-vid for a similar video to see the differences and when I didn’t see one, I decided to make this video! Thank you for letting me know it was helpful to you 🥰
Desislava, may I recommend the Revlon One-Step Dryer and Volumizer Hair Brush? I’m a 75 year old Gramma with no skills for doing my hair! It is longer now than ever in my life because of Covid! My girls are cutting my hair: my daughter and granddaughter! My hair is halfway down my back! And it is silver white. The One-Step is my lifesaver! It gives me some lift on top and smooths the hair. But it will also give shape and a nice pageboy effect if I hold it longer. After I smooth my hair I can go back and add some curls at the front with a curling wand if I want. I’m all thumbs but even I have no trouble using the One Step. I really love it! I can do my hair in 10 minutes if I use a dryer for part of the process. Try it and see what you think! 🌹
@@robinholbrook6576 gosh! I want to be like you one day! Thank you so much for bringing a smile to my late Sunday evening🖤 stay blessed, healthy and may your beauty never fade 🥰
@@femalevoice_ Desislava! What a lovely thing to say to an old lady! YOU certainly put a smile on MY face and in MY heart! But what part made you smile? The long silver hair? Or my girls cutting my hair? Lolol or we’re you teasing me? It doesn’t matter! It was cute of you, regardless! ❤️🌹❤️
@@robinholbrook6576 the fact beauty has no age! I love women who style their hare and if it is long then I am just jealous but in a nice way:) not teasing at all!
Yes, I’m sure it will. All of these devices over time get commoditized. But when I saw someone on poshmark selling a $50 device for $150 I was like omg people need to know not to get that!
sorry but if you already do a test with it. then hold the strand at the top so that it is drawn in correctly and not hold it down like you do and then half the strand falls out and then you say it does not pull properly. presentations are shown on tv where they do it. therefore I know that.
She's demonstrating with the most common curling pattern used these days . Im sure if she was doing a volume set she would hold it horizontally as shown in the demonstrations
I noticed that too. The dupe side, she just kind of threw the hair at it. Lol on the Dyson side, she draped the hair over the barrel (which holds the weight of the hair) and let it pick up the ends.
I really, really want the air wrap but it’s sold out everywhere. I think I will get this one while waiting for the real thing. Do you know when the airwrap will be back in stock? Been researching but can’t find anything about it.
On right side u said that u do not section hair properly, but on a left side with dyson u decided to section hair. If dyson really that good ehy u need section your hair?
Hi Nadia! Okay, you got me. I wasn’t very scientific in my approach (and I’m not a professional hairstylist obvi) but I tried my best. I hope you at least got to see the efficaciousness of both products particularly later in the video!
This was a good video demonstration. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts. I too purchased the air wrap two years ago and returned it because I just couldn’t justify the price over the performance. It wasn’t bad how it left my hair but the curls didn’t last as long and came out similar to your curls. They were kinda present for the first hour and after that, they fell out into a wave and just became flat. It wasn’t bad but I just don’t think it’s worth the $550 which is why I returned it. That was two years ago and now that I’ve been without it, I feel stupid for returning it because so many dupes I have tried DO. NOT. WORK. It either is too hot for my hair which will soon lead to heat damage or it ripped out too much of my hair out and who the heck wants that?! The dyson was great in terms of temperature and when I used the brush attachment, little hair came out. It was the same amount of hair you’d find when normally brushing your hair dry. This video convinced me that with all the dupes out there, nothing can beat dyson.
Alana, toooootally! 💯 you and I had a very similar journey. As of now, with what is available in the market, the dupes I haven’t been able to pull off the same performance as the original. That might change in the future but right now the original just works so much better!
@@elysewtvr4714 In the beginning I really didn’t like it because of how little the curls lasted after blasting it with heat but I learned that I wasn’t using it properly. It’s trial and error but if done correctly it turns out nice. They also sell smaller barrels for tighter curls so that’s what I needed so I’m happy to have discovered that. When I returned my dyson the first time, I used other dupes but those were way worse so I learned quick that I made the mistake of returning it thinking I could find something nicer for less. If my dyson broke today I would 100% buy another one the next day lol
You’re meant to position the dryer towards the very ends of your hair. That’s why neither of them could grab hold of the hair effectively. Try doing that and they’ll both perform better. I’ve seen someone on here with hair halfway down her back and curled her amazingly because she did it properly.
Hi poopashoes! Thanks so much for the tip! Im glad you commented because someone else reading this can learn from my mistake and take your advice and have either product work better for her. I personally like to curl more from the root area because I really like having extra body right from the getgo and plus it’s faster that way. If I curl from the end, the ends of my hair get hot a lot faster but I have to wait for the strand closer to my roots to feel the heat since they’re wrapped in multiple rotations and layers of hair by the time the wand is curled all the way up (starting from the end.) I also used to have much longer hair (halfway down my back) and using a curling wand just never worked for curling hair close to my roots (esp if it’s the same “continuous curl”) since the extra length was taking all the heat of the barrel...resulting in a ton of curls at the ends but absolutely no root volume. It looked sad and limp. I am obviously no professional hairstylist. I am totally an amateur who made this video with- to your credit- and arguably subpar technique, in equal effort for both of the products so at least you can see the efficacy of the two wands side by side. You can really see the difference in both wands even if the same mediocre method is used with both of them 😂
THANK YOU! Yes! I’m not good with my own hair but I had seen a few folks use this and knew something was off! And I CAN afford the Dyson but I would NEVER spend that much money on a hair styler! NEVER! And anyway, the WORST vacuum I have EVER owned was a Dyson! I gave it to Goodwill and bought an $87 Eureka that does an OUTSTANDING job! I’ll not buy another Dyson product.
@@CrystalClues that’s fine if you like having more curls near the root, i think the comment though , was saying to use BOTH devices starting at the very ends of your hair, an it will work better, suck the hair better faster, trying to do it from the middle of your hair can jyst be ineffective , i don’t mean anything by it! i’m just saying, even though you like towards the root, try doing both starting at the bottom an see what happens! Also i seen one seller on poshmark that had sold about 20-25 of these knockoffs for $150! an she will not budge on price, i seen i comments! she said it’s like the dyson, but is unbranded? so no brand, an i seen ones that look exactly like hers for $35-$50!!
I was going to say the same thing. Apparently start at the ends. I’d love you to try it and let us know how you get on. I think the round brush is supposed to be used first to give the volume. I’m waiting for my dupe snd ive not used the dyson. I don’t have the money. But I’ve watched far too many videos on YT. It was a fantastic review. Thank you
Per Dyson, you're supposed to start about 4" from the ends. On her hair, tbats about mid-way. The air grabs the hair and wraps it itself. Shes doing it absolutely correctly!
Omg. This video was so unbelievably thorough and helpful. I almost felt both items were in my own home right in front of me. You covered like every single point in the differences between the two and allowed viewers to make the most informed decision possible without them having to shell out their own money to decide which suits their needs vs budget best. Great job. Much appreciated.
It should! I personally have thin, slightly curly/wavy hair (it’s not dense at all) & when you use the tool correctly it works great. I got a dupe version personally. Watch videos of tutorials on how to properly position the tool it’ll save so much time & irritation.
Another rather important reason to go for the Dyson is that the Dupe basically goes from 0 to 100, so the air actually is too hot, damaging your hair. Of course, if you only need it occasionally, and/or cannot or do not want to shell out the “ridiculous” price of the Dyson, going for the dupe is the way to go. If you want a quality product, and can afford it, go for the Dyson. A very informative video again. Thank you for that.
All of these work better with damp hair..also seems like you tried better on the dyson side 😅 I have a dyson but I’d sell it in a heartbeat if I could find another all in one tool and I’m a hairdresser! I think it’s unnecessary $$ for home use just my opinion
I bought mine on Walmart app. They range between $45-75. Mine works just like this video. Hopefully you figure it out, if you do please let me know. I’d like to save hundreds on not buying the real 1, Thank you!
I've tried that and it helps! I was more so trying to compare the forcefulness of the coanda curling wind motion, if that makes sense. The knock off didn't get cold :(
You know what I was thinking maybe its the technique. Have you tried feeding the hair into it while its held parallel to the floor, horizontally. Then flip it vertically, cool shot then release? Hmm. Really wouldn't mind the dupe.
I am not a hair professional but I personally believe damage is not just heat related, but it is related to how often do you wash your hair, how often you brush your hair, how are you tying it up (or if you’re even tying it up ) when you sleep, and a lot of other factors.. Most hairstylists I have met use heat in the salon for me because they see my hair and they see that it is healthy. (Although a lot of other hairstylists would probably still use heat even if my hair was damaged because it is the only way to get that salon perfect blowout look.) The point is, I don’t think using occasional high heat is that bad if you’re taking care of your hair in all other areas… Deep conditioning, wearing it loose when sleeping, and eating a healthy diet.
Hm…treated the sides differently in feeding hair into machine. Neither side was hair fed into machine PROPERLY. How can you make a recommendation when you’re NOT doing it the way they recommend? Suggesting your viewers spend so much money because you fed your hair in better isn’t a fair review. This is my first time here. I’m impressed but not in a good way.
Hey I had a questions and I know you are the right to answer this so I wanted to know if you are competing for pageants like miss world or miss universe and your age is 18-19 years the chances of you winning the pageants are less?
You know what, that’s actually an interesting question. I don’t have the statistics off the top of my head as to the correlation between age and likelihood of winning. But that’s something that can be easily calculated by going to Wikipedia and finding the average age of winners ( by adding up the ages of all past winners and dividing by the number of winners.) My knee-jerk reaction is that being younger has its advantages, depending on what nation you’re representing, the age of tour competition that year, and how mature you are at that age. Of course on the other hand, being older also has its own advantages too. If you are on the younger side, do not let age limit you. The name of the game is to learn and grow as much as possible and if you are able to have the time and resources and can afford to compete at 18 years old, I say go for it! Seize the day!
