Wow, Pappy! When you clean, you CLEAN! I can honestly say that there is NO ONE in this vast RU-vid community that can, not only keep my attention through a cleaning of a vacuum, but actually have me intrigued by the cleaning of a vacuum, other than YOU! You always astound me with your almost sixth sense ability to recognize and understand how things work! I mean, you effortlessly took apart this entire unit, as if you were the very one to engineer the unit! It would have taken me hours, just to figure out how to clean the canister! You dazzled me with your complete, and involved cleaning (like cleaning the rubber gaskets of the canister!) ; but truly you blew my mind when you were finding ways to access places that the book didn't even show! Dude, you even knew the complete ins and outs of the attachments!! You are amazing, Pappy! Truly amazing!
Lol... Thanks buddy.!!! we are all special in some way or another. Thanks sooo much for the kind commentary you Rock brother and I have a package to open yet, thank you for that. Kindness never go's unnoticed... bless you always Goundman.!!
I've come around on Dyson after seeing how serviceable they are. I had to use one way back when in the early 00s when I worked housekeeping at Kohl's and after the first month it really started to clog (to be fair it's a consumer vacuum being asked to do commercial work) and with no documentation on how to service them these really seemed like style over substance. Flash forward to today and the mother inlaw gave us her V8 Animal cordless and my opinion has changed, the fact that you can strip these down to the basics and pretty.much rebuild them has me really impressed.
I recently decided to replace my 16yr old Dirt Devil, after realizing it wasn’t doing a very good job when I recently cleaned the carpet. I purchased one of these, received it today and gave it a first run over the carpet after the week ago cleaning. I was rather amazed at how much it was able to get off of my cleaned carpet. Dumping the canister, I saw a lot of those places that I would need to clean occasionally with a moist cloth, all the seals n such. Amazing all that fine dirt it picked up and is now caked in those seals🤣. Definitely gonna need to clean it occasionally, and use the air hose. Worth it to keep it working that well.
Glad you got a book...I couldn't get one after contacting the company (where I ordered it) three times. I have to depend on the kindness of smart people on the internet.
Yes the book came with my Dyson. Here is a link to the book: media.dyson.com/downloads/CAEN/floorcare/Manuals/dc15_opmanual_eng.pdf Thank you for the corner stop.!!
Thanks for the video. I wanted to suggest an edit. Instead of just removing the pre filter on the cyclone do the following that way you do not damage the cyclone rubber gasket: First locate the button on the cyclone the one you identify in your video. Using a pry tool gently from the lay of right hand side remove the button and release the spring. Then remove the rubber gasket by lifting with a small tip of the pry tool or a covered pin. Wash and set aside to dry. Using the pry tool at each of the tabs on the cyclone above the pre filter gently press and the pry the cyclone filter apart. That releases the prefilter attached to the bottom of the cyclone and the top of the vacuum chamber. Wash the interior of the chamber. A lot of dust is loaded on to the interior of the cyclone but the engineering is well designed. The dust does not accurate into the intake of the cyclone. But washing the interior I believe would remove more dust at the cyclone intake more than compressed air. Let me know how this works.
Mine too! and I get roped into the tear down and reassembly... at least she cleans the components and I do the wrenching. Thank you for the corner stop big D.!!!
Been fixing vacuums for around 15 years, dysons are the most expensive and dirtiest to fix. The soft bristles do nothing for agitating the dirt out of the rug, I suggest riccar everything can be replaced easily in them if ever worn out.
Good job, but will not relate to all Dysons, mine is very old and they made some changes, for example to remove the part with the screen, I have to release 5 slots from 5 tabs to get the part with the screen off, so I can use water, which is a no-no. I go much farther, so I can put the parts in a tub, and I can dry it well. I don't see buying a compressor so you can blow dirt out of a sweeper. As a side, I have never seen any dirt in that filter in the top. To me, that means that the Cyclone does not move air through the filter. This filter never gets any dirt in it, but there is all kinds of very fine dirt that collects in the cyclone. I'll bet they have changed the design. I have had this sweeper since 2015, and the filter looks like it did when I bought the sweeper.
I do not have one of these, but if I did I am sure I would have just learned more about it. That is quite an engineered vacuum. This is an easy to follow, Excellent How-To Pappy! Are these vacuums as good as I hear?
Another honey due project, figured l should get it on video... The Dyson is the most powerful vacuum I've owned, it's heavy, noisy, but easy to handle... Thank you for the corner stop and kind words Steve'O...!!
Kind of ironic doing this... it's the little lady's project I get to do... Lol... Sooo.... I made a video.... Thanks for the music Herf.!!... love it.!!
LOL! Both you and Pappy are exploring deep metaphysical heights within a vacuum! Cleaning a cleaner is like nature in reverse?! Next thing you will know, such phenomena like dogs getting along with kitties will happen!
Hay big D... Good to see you..!!...I'm busy all summer and a caregiver to my wife. Now I have to learn a new computer and software ... Lol... I need to get back to my editing some day... soon!!?!!
