I’ve looked at numerous videos on here and trouble shot all that I saw. I cleaned all filters and made sure there were no blockages anywhere and still NO LUCK until this video. Thank you!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh my GOD... its June 2024 and this video helped me. I thought it was a prank solution but the 5 button press reset trick worked straight away for me. THANK YOU 😊
I'll add my name to the people who were helped a LOT by this! So simple - after cleaning and tearing about the roller (at least it's clean now) - this is a great bit of knowledge to have. Thanks
Thank you thank you. We were desperate. Unscrewed it all and cleaned it. Still the roller didn't spin. Had no idea about the points. Did as you said and ....hey presto. Thank goodness for people like you who help.
BIG Thanks for sharing your top secret fix and posting this video! My DC51 roller stopped yesterday, halfway through cleaning...ugh! My roller didn't start after following the video instructions, but I didn't give up. It did work after standing it locked upright with the handle fully extended, doing the 5x toggle, turned power on, and then tilted down the handle to the floor (like I was trying to vacuum under a bed). Works again like there was never a thing wrong!
Thankyou so much 😊 I know old vid but I love my dyson ball. Thought it was a goner until I came across your video 😊 much appreciated like you I started making random movements and it started turning again.
I am thanking and praising God for you right now and asking for blessings to you! I was so upset about my vacuum and not being able to afford to fix it or buy a new one. BUT BECAUSE OF YOU IT NOW WORKS!!! ❤ Thank you!
Thank you! I took apart and thoroughly cleaned the beater bar on my Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal in hopes that the bar would spin again. It didn’t. How utterly absurd that this “secret handshake” fix was even necessary, but boy am I glad I found your video! You’ve saved me hundreds of dollars in repair or replacement. Thank you!
WOW!!!!!! Just spent an hour taking the whole brush head apart and ready to toss the f fin thing in the trash . Tried this video recommendations and the gods provided. Where ever you got the idea for this ,it's priceless thank you very much. 👍
Found my dyson animal in the neighbors trash when they moved out. So I cleaned filters and noted beater bar did not work, but the bar rotated freely and I could turn the brush by hand. Then I tried your magic reset just now. 5 cycles on and off with the vacuum extended and grey beater switch up.as you instructed. That reset the beater bar! Works great. Now it gets a deep cleaning. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Holy cow! Resetting this beater bar hack worked the first time! I was ready to bring it to the local Dyson store to have it serviced and thought I’d try RU-vid 1 more time for a possible solution. My hunch paid off! THANK YOU for taking the time to share this awesome hack that saved me time AND $$$$$$ !!
Dude! Thanks a bunch for posting this. Your instructional video helped me fix my D25. Just needed to be reset as you demonstrated. So easy! I owe you a cold one!
I almost NEVER comment on RU-vid videos, but HAD to here. I took my DC50 apart and was about to start messing with the wires when I came across this video. To think all I had to do was this! the 5x toggle worked. A BIG BIG thanks.
Forget about the poor quality. Your video is fabulous! I done so many things and was thinking to throw away my vacuum, in which I had only for 2 years now😢 Cost tons of money. Thankbyou so much for making this video. It worked!❤
OCTOBER 27TH 2023.... DYSON CINETIC BIG BALL ANIMAL U14 Model Was totally stripped and cleaned up previously and then I've tried the RESET !!! and yes, brush start spinning at max speeds again, after more than 4 years 😂. Definitely works, please clean everything, there are plenty tutorials on RU-vid how to dismantle every last part of it. You'll need a Torx and a philips screw driver.
Thank you very much. That toggling thing was like a secret handshake nobody else tells you about! You saved me from throwing mine away out of frustration.
You are a genius. Had taken machine apart and couldn't get it working. Followed your 5 times tip of pressing the knob and hey presto. Thank you very much.
My Dyson got jammed up on a rug and stopped the rollers. I thought I burnt out the motor. Had to tap the button more than five times but it finally got the rollers going. 🤙🏽 thank you sir for the info.
YUP - I just found this dyson solution today and glad i did- was going to possibly buy yet another $500 vacuum - mine had a very thick and large zip tie stuck in it. pulled it out and back to good as new. Thank you so much!
OMG It worked!! First I had tried another video about this, and the guy had me taking apart every little section of the vacuum…Your fix was so easy and 100% effective!
Holy crap it worked!!!! But do the 5xs without power on and then turn the power on and it reset!!! Thank you so much. I thought my vacuum was a gonner ! 🎉
I know this old but. Thank you! I had to clean out the bearings inside the brush head but then when I put it back together I assembled it slightly wrong and herd a snap and the brush bar didn’t work. I spent another few hours diagnosing switches and the motor. This is all it needed. Damn it!
Not always that. I've replaced many PCB boards as well. Sometimes hair gets caught in the bearings to the point of overheating and jamming. Lack of maintenance and cleaning the brush bar can overload the capacitor on the PCB board and the brush bar stops.
Thanks this worked on our DC55 as well. Seen some other videos on RU-vid that took the hoover completely apart. This was so much easier and worked a treat.
I'm a bit confused. Do you push the beater brush switch 5 times while the machine is off, or do you turn the machine on and then push the switch 5 times? The beater brush on my machine stopped working a few days ago. Thank you for posting this.
Thank you! OMG I finally cracked the code! I can’t believe it. I too had given up after talking the vacuum apart multiple times & watching a few RU-vid videos. Somehow I found yours.
I have looked up all the troubleshooting stuff I could possibly find. Finally called Dyson... it's still under warranty, so they sent me a part to replace myself... don't have it yet, but I can't take not being able to vacuum. I pulled the entire beater bar assembly apart and scraped out so much hair and lint still didn't work, but it sure is clean now. Stumbled upon your video and seriously thought you were crazy... but guess what?! my damn vacuum works now. :)
This worked for my DC50 Animal model. The unit is about 5 years old, but I consider that it got light usage, and I do clean the 2 filters regularly. My roller head started getting erratic, then it just stopped working. Cleaning didn't help. After reading this and having already tried so many things, I decided to give it a try - (nothing to take apart, how could it be that easy. I was skeptical.) I extended the handle, put the body on its side, the power button down, brush button on top. I had to plug the unit in and turn it on first, so I could get the brush button to properly toggle, then I toggled the brush button 5 times. It worked for a second. So I started toggling the brush button off and on several times until the brush started running again. I stood the unit upright and tried using it; the brush kept running. I stood the vacuum upright and retracted the handle so it would stand on its own. Then I turned it on and extended the handle, and the brush started spinning again. So I guess it's fixed. Could it be that toggling the brush button while the unit is on its side dislodges some pieces of dust that are interfering with the contact in the switch? Whatever, it worked for me for now, I hope it lasts. Thanks for the tip. This is like a big Dyson insider secret. I had stopped using the unit for my rugs for over a month, and I was getting ready to take the roller head apart to have a look at the motor. So you saved me that agonizing step, looking for the right size Torx screwdriver to fit those screws. I noticed that it says 120V on the neck of the head, so I was about to hardwire the metal contact tabs on the head to a plug, and plug it in to see if it would run on its own, but I was afraid that it might damage the motor (too many amps?). So thankfully I didn't have to try that either. Thank You so much.
this worked! I have a Dyson DC 51. layed it on the left side, power button down, vacuum extended. I did have to toggle more that 5x and I had the vacuum running when it finally did restart. Thank you!
The "5-click reset" did not work on our DC-17. The reset button is easy to access though. Pull out and remove the wand assembly. Remove two screws and pinch four clips holding the power button assembly in place. Screws and clips are found behind the wand assembly. Slowly and gently pull the power button assembly off the front of the handle; be careful to keep this assembly together as you remove it. You will see three buttons; main power, brush power, and reset. Press the small, red reset button. Reassemble the handle, and return the wand assembly to its usual position.
Ron, ditto. Same on a DC25: hose detached, back of switch panel 3 screws, two clips retainers (do not try to lever off the loosened switch cover, try and pull directly away from it’s normal position!). The reset the outermost opposite mains power switch, brush power switch is in the middle. Note that the switch cover buttons have springs which will ‘escape’ when they are freed by this process.
Hi, Thank you very much for this video!! I thought I needed a replacement head.Turned on its side and reset 5 complete times, and voila! Thanks again!!
Tried the 5X toggle, didn't do anything. Removed both filters. Cleaned the brush bar. Roller spins for a few seconds then stops. I think the problem is the cut off switch in the electronics. Get it serviced and make sure you get a guarantee on the work. Don't but another of these things.
Having issues finding the right sized phillips head. I dont want to strip those screws around the bar. I get a bad burning smell too and we just cleaned the rest of the vacuum and replaced the filters. The brush bar spins than stops...so something has gotta be jamming it up.
I thought this was BS but it totally worked!!! Just keep trying. It seemed to work for me when I unplugged the vacuum, plugged it back in, then repeated the combo again.
Hi I'm new to.this I have dyson dc 25, brush wont turn I've cleaned it but was hardly anything on it, also sounds noisy, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow..a RU-vid video that actually worked I did I laid it on its side power button side down on his left side and toddler it was more than 5 times but eventually get started rolling I don't know how that works but it works
