This is how I disassembled my Dyson Cool fan for cleaning. The process took me about 2 hours. Everything in the fan seemed to have gotten dirty. I like the fan but was not having a good time cleaning it.
I show only how I disassembled it. I did not over tighten any screws on re-assembly.

I wish I knew how filthy this fan would get before I bought it. At this price point it's outrageous that they don't provide easy access for cleaning the thing.

Had to use this video again after a couple years, still works. Just in case it happens to other people, I got the F2 error at first. I had to take it completely apart again down to the motor, take the tiny gray box out and unplug and plug it back in, and had to make sure the wires where securely back in their little gaps. I also noticed that once I put in the top piece that requires the really long screws, it causes it to F2, not sure why. I just left the screws out and it worked again.

Great video. For those wanting a assembly video just start at the end and go backwards 😅. After I cleaned it ( what a pain) I cut a pair of my husband's boxers and use a strip for an outside filter. The anemometer shows the same speed with or without but the filter I wash out weekly (cat hair, dust). A coffee filter works too but isn't reusable. No more current draw on the motor (used a kilowatt meter.)

Straight forward guide, easy to follow and helped me to finally resolve the most irritating vibration noise at anything over speed 5. Turned out that Dyson themselves hadn't put the motor assembly spring legs into their slots during production, with that irritation fixed too, now as good as brand new and no more vibrations! Thank you very, very much! (FYI anybody wanting to do this but you dont have a T8 bit, i got by with watch very small headed screwdrivers just fine). Additional note: when i put mine back together i immediately got an F2 error code on the display, this code means motor friction, check the rotor on the under side can definitely spin freely with no friction, mine was caught on the lip of the plastic guard, popped it back through and worked immediately.

These certainly aren't "blade-less!" The design is flawed in two ways. First, it's built upside down. The inlet should be at the top where the air is cleaner, not the bottom next to carpet. Second, the inlet needs a removable filter of some sort so you don't have to take the thing apart.
@laquerisma

Good video. Note that the smaller filter is likely to disintegrate if you wash it with any force. Mine did and I just tossed it. Didn't make a difference. The hardest part is getting the wires back in under the assembly during re-install. Just be patient and mark the assembly with a Sharpie to show where the white feet meet the inside of the cylinder. Also mark the cylinder so that when you put the fan assembly back in you know you are aligned. I had the AM08 or AM03 not sure what the differences are, but the internals are the same as this video.

DYSON AM07 Cool Fan Cleaning. Great Video of Detailed Cleaning
@SJIsles
@SJIsles 11 месяцев назад
Had to switch off the air-conditioner for one day as the ledge where the compressor rested needed repairs. So, on my AM07, I went from my usual 6 speed to 10. Ran it for 8 hours through the night. Then suddenly a loud grinding sound. And the fan stopped. Received an F4 message. Switched off the unit and unplugged it for one minute and switched it on again. Received and F2 message. Disassembled. Not that dirty inside. I had maintained it reasonably well. But boy, the motor unit was super hot. Even after one hour, it was still very hot to the touch. Will update again when I have allowed it to cool sufficiently and reassembled it. I'm just wondering, if this fan was made to run under cool conditions with the air-conditioner working, doesn't that defeat the purpose of a fan? Or was it a coincidence?

@karlale4904
@karlale4904 2 года назад
Most people don't expect to have to use compressed air to clean their fan. Also, unless you have a strong compressor, the dirt is caked on and has to be brushed off. A filter on the exterior shell would have prevented this type of cleaning. Keep asking questions, maybe Dyson will pay attention.

Want a filter on the outside vs cleaning the internal parts? Take a shop vac foam filter, cut it into 3 equal pieces, and slide one of the pieces over the inlet holes. Ill add a video when I have time. Cost is about $2-3 per piece and you can clean them or trash them after becoming dirty. So far so good on my tests. I did make sure to clean the internal fan itself as in this video before installing the new filter. Using a filter on a dirty fan won't work very well. Please note, adding a filter adds resistance to the motor, so it could potentially reduce lifespan of the motor and nullify your warranty, if any.

It starting making the sound trucks make when backing up, you know the beep beep beep sound, but thankfully it sounded far away, just did a surface clean around all those holes at the bottom with a brush, now when I turn it on, it sounds like a plane engine starting up (what the heck is going on), so I called Dyson, only to find the closest repair is about 40 miles from me (live in San Francisco, don't have a car), what a joke. I don't underatand replies like this. It's obvious that you buy a Dyson fan because the design is very different (and imo very nice, esthetically pleasing -- clean compared to traditional fans). Hard to put a price on art. I can buy a perfectly fine bag for €10. I also have the option to pay €5000 for something that performs the same function but looks nice (to some people). I personally bought the Dyson very well knowing it wasn't the best bang for buck fan. I bought it because it's pleasing to look at.
@addictiveaussie
@addictiveaussie 3 года назад
@@sjaakbanaan Well frankly I don't understand replies like yours. You buy an electrical appliance for functionality. Would you buy a refrigerator for instance just because it looked good? Obviously not. So why buy a fan just because it looks good? Several hundred dollars for fan that stops working properly and needs constant disassembling so it works properly is clearly ill thought out design engineering.
