*This fan is everything I wanted in a desk fan and more. It looks great for **Fastly.Cool** my room , it puts out a wonderful amount of air. Is very easy to use.I just keep it plugged in.*
After watching you very informative video, I got soft tooth brush & cleaned all the dust out, lots, & the swivel base, also cleaned much dust by turning & exposing inside with tooth brush. Now working beautifully & quieter than it has ever been, I am thrilled.
I have Dyson hot/cool unit and it too stopped working after using it for only 2 years. For an unit this expensive, cannot believe how difficult it is to clean out the dust. Not to mention the noise.
I have a simple 12" fan and this dyson. I cleaned the 12" wire fan in the time it took to take apart the dyson. Haven't even cleaned it yet. What an ugly pain in the ass.
Wow. My Dyson wasn't anywhere near as bad as the one in the video, however you definitely helped me identify my issue, and figure out how to fix it. It only took about 10 to 15 minutes for me to clean it out with a soft brush and a tooth brush, to get it working flawlessly. Thank you for your invaluable help.
Thank you 🙏 I just fixed the heater on my Dyson because of this video. Now I feel more comfortable keeping the first Dyson fan that hit the market. I was about to throw it away until I stumbled upon this video. Not to sure how I actually fixed it, but opening it up in 3 different places and giving it a good cleaning really helped! All I used was a vacuum and screwdriver. Btw, if anyone knows why heating number 17 below doesnt work but 17+ works let me know.
Thank you for this video! Was very helpful in cleaning out my Dyson which was pretty clogged up with dust and grime. Luckily all mine required in terms of cleaning was a good scrub with a cloth, an old toothbrush, and some over-the-counter canned air. Thing works like a charm now!
After wasting an hour with Dyson online chat that did nothing to fix H2 error code on my AM09 model, given address to send for service at my expense. I bought 5 of these years ago, gave 2 as gifts, now all back in my possession. Only 1 has this issue. Decided to search You Tube. Appreciate your video. Going to try taking it apart and clean. You make it look fairly easy, if it is, will clean the others as well. Fingers crossed. I love the compact size, use 1 in a camper for heat rather then the propane heater. Definitely not designed well and way over priced. As my late grandfather would say "A fool and their money are easily parted." Should change my name to Foolish 😂
Thank you for the tip on the fan and blade with a compressor air gun something I never knew ...and it will definitely something I will always remember ...great video thank you
I was surprised that you said it was noisy. Mine is very quiet. And has been great for keeping the kitchen warm and not having the heat up the whole house, until I got the H2 error message. So I hope I can clean it because now I'm retired and I can't afford it another one.
thanks for making the video about this H2 error. (click read more for solution as my comment is too long) My AM09 dyson hot cold fan recently had the same problem. but i checked all the little holes vents there was NO dust whatsoever (and Air was blowing out fine). After watching your video, i still used an compressed air blower and blew all the holes. then restarted dyson am09 still H2 error. Then i googled more and found this dyson rep comment on bestbuy forum regarding the H2 error. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that your AM09 is showing an H2 error. This error is there to alert you to an over/under current. The machine draws more energy while in heat mode, 1500 watts. You will want to ensure that your machine is being plugged directly into outlet and not a power strip/extension cord. You should also keep your AM09 on a separate outlet/breaker than other high powered devices. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com and we'll be happy to assist you further with this. Hopefully anyone have the same problem can fix it just like i did. Cheers!
We got this for the toddler room ru-vid.comUgkxdzUap46p9ViXhKZf5mK_bXOb89EHxTqq because of the bladeless feature. Actually has a lot more power than I thought it would. Can still feel the air moving well 6 feet away, which is farther than I would expect from a desk fan. My daughter dropped twice and still works. I haven't checked out how long it lasts on a charge yet, but the air output was still good for the few minutes it was unplugged. My daughter also likes the color lights feature, but I don't really care for it and can be annoying to go through all the options before it turns off. Overall, happy with the purchase, especially for the price
I do have my HOT+COOL since 2016 ( newest model that on the video) and my heat didn't work for the last 2 years. I did call DYSON and they told me IT COUDNT BE FIX. Today because of you I did clean my device and OH MY GOD it was disgusting !!! After a very detail clean my device is working like new and EVEN THE HEAT!!! THANK YOU!!!! YOU MADE MY DAY!
They’ve definitely improved on these throughout the years. I have the pure cool link model (just a Wifi enabled blade less fan with a HEPA filter) and it’s pretty quiet. I imagine the filter will eliminate the need to take the unit apart for service. I do like being able to tell how the air quality is in my room without having to be there and it automatically switches on and off depending on the condition of the air in the room is. But I agree, very expensive. I got mine for a discount that was about half of one new so cant really complain. Might just go look at the pure hot cool as well. Thank you for the video!
True it is still a a victory of style and marketing over the function. The good thing is that they are so costly that people try and repair them instead of buying a new one.
We live in a very noisy area so I got 2 of these. Expensive but blow cool air in the summer and nicely drowns out the sound of the passing traffic and barking dogs . Thats my way of saying they're not quiet!
After watching the video, and reading comments below, mine must be quite clogged, as it's very noisy, and not so powerful any more. I'm going to follow your guidance. Thank you!
For those who haven't got access to an air blower a paint brush dabbed into the holes from the inside works great, I would also recommend a powerful vacuum on the holes on the outside frequently.
I havent even taken mine apart yet and i can already tell its 5x worse. Smoking around this thing probably isnt the hottest idea. Thanks for the video man i had a feeling it would be something relatively simple but i didnt want to accidently sever any electrical connections trying to take it apart without instructions.
I have Dyson fans. I've never seen anything like the muck in this one, in any of mine! I just use a vacuum brush every few weeks and dust and vacuum the room!!
Seeing as how they've gone completely to making filtered units and not just fans, they also realized how badly dirt can clog up these fancy "air multiplier" apertures, as well as the tiny holes for air intakes. I bought myself one recently (AM06 fan/no filter), it's still stuck in the NE U.S. from winter storms delaying shipping, but I've been watching these types of videos to make sure mine lasts for years. Edit: They still make the AM07 tower fan model, but discontinued the AM06, so the tower fan is the last one without a filter.
My dyson is heat n cool. The cool flow levels go up and are strong. Where as the heat won't go more than level one which u can barely feel. And temp won't budge even though I turn it up to the highest
Have had my AM09 since 2015, but have had the infamous "H2" error for almost half of it's lifetime. Switching outlets, remotes, etc. never fixed the error for me, after trying to do a deep clean like this one- it still gives me the H2 error. I'll have to edit this comment if I ever find a fix for it... right now I'm thinking about getting another space heater for the winter time.
Same here, mate. I ended up grabbing a Vornado. I'm just getting back to my Dyson and it's in need of a good cleaning. Call Dyson and let them know. I had them exchange a faulty unit out of warranty. Very friendly. Hassle though.
Sorry cant help. This product is truly a victory of style over functionality. Ridiculous price - the question is: Why do people pay it? Dyson should have stuck to the wheel barrow with the spherical wheel then we would all be better off.
I have had mine for many many years now, has never broken and works beautifully. That being said, I do clean the whole thing out at the minimum once a year. I use sticky jelly to clean the holes, super easy and satisfying. I was wondering if you can take it apart any further hence me watching this video, really sad there isn’t any other way to get into it :/ seriously stupid design, they don’t expect people to maintain these things just buy the newest models…
Ther eis another video on my channel that deals with cleaning out the top section. These things are definitely demonstrates what happens when style is victorious over content
Is there anywhere where dust don’t exist? Other than space I wanna live there, thank you for the video I’m about to do the same mine isn’t blowing neither
Dude, it's not really dead skin. That's an urban legend. It's mostly dirt, pollen and stuff like that. Good vid though, thanks for sharing. Got mine working!
Thank you - I hadn't noticed the screws when pivoting the base like that. I have a cockatoo, so mine doesn't go very long before getting this error. Now I can get it up and running again. :)
The foam is likely there to deaden the resonance of that housing to make it quieter. i find it disappointing that PU foam is still used. I understand that it is attacked by ozone. Thanks for watching.
I have the H2 error as well, Dyson customer support was very unhelpful, so of course I came to RU-vid. Thank You for the video, off to give mine a good cleaning.
Hello there! I came across an old AM05 hot cool tower in my office that I’d like to use. I plugged it in and it seems to produce heat, but won’t go any cooler than 25C and the oscillation stops then too. Would this clean help my issue?
All that design, all that work, all that flabbering and this entire fan is basically a disposable item for a person that won't do this clean-up procedure/can't (not all people were born with a screwdriver in their hands). And mind you, there's both enough space in the frame and the existing design to have removable mesh outers and inners to clean. Heck, the design lends itself to even allow a removable and cleanable motor pod/core.
Do you know the problem I am having with mine? It seems to blow hot air only on the right hand side and cold on the left which is very annoying. Thanks
Ok mine has an E message, flashes red and blue and of course makes this melting plastic smell. I had to remove it from my outlet and it was still lit for like 30 seconds super weird. Anyway, would cleaning it help? Do you have any idea what’s wrong with it? I mean it’s from 2015 and it has never been cleaned so I could try. I’ll update if it works or not when I’m done!
Ok quick update: thank you again for the video! I wish I could put pics here because it was just as dirty as a vacuum cleaner bag! It took me an hour to clean out but I did it. Oh my god! That was bad. But it’s clean now! Hoping the dirt was the solution!
A victory of style over electronic design. I just don't know where they get these engineers from. I bet they use young clean-cut smart boys instead of hairy old men that know their stuff. I ran a development department for 20 years working right there on the bench with the engineers as it was the only way to stop stupid design practices. Design is easy but most companies stop well short of adequate testing of their designs.
Does anyone know of someone who could help ,e clean my Dyson for me? I live near Whetstone in London but need help as I know this is my Dyson problem. Will pay obviously!
My would not no cool air i went to dyson on line and they had the remort control press this press that and low and byhold it came back.I think it was my use of the hot fan. Cool did`nt like it. Cool again.
They are a ridiculous product. I haven't spoke to anyone that loves the Dyson heater. The real question is why or how anyone could be seduced into paying the price for one of these things.. Noisy, smelly, gets blocked up, numerous error codes etc. etc..
@@razenby I bought one 4 years ago. Stays on number one for speed so it takes three hours to heat my bathroom....Then when door to bathroom opens door it takes another 3 hours to heat up again...Now I see it needs a cleaning. Stay tuned!!
