In this video i show the Dyson DC07 and some of the features and benefits it offered when it was being sold back in 2001.
I also compare it to the new Dyson Ball Animal and some of the differences that have been made over the years.

I'm not an enthusiast but I like watching people who are experts in their field explain something I have no idea about.

This is brilliant! My Mum had a DC 07 and we will still have it. 200 air watts? Definitely keeping it.

I was considering fixing my DC07 that has a broken duct assembly. After watching this and reading the comments, I think I might go for it! I rescued (on the curb..) and repaired a DC41 and my wife and I both miss our DC07. The 41 clogs too easily! Thanks for the video!

ME TOO! Lol!! I love rescuing vacuums from the curb only to find a good cleaning is all it needs. Last summer I got one that was so powerful it literally picked up my carpet as I vacuumed it.

Mum had one in purple and turquoise back in the day that she was So proud of, lol. I specifically remember when she stopped referring to the vacuum as a vacuum and started calling it “the Dyson.” Funny throwback!

I got a DC07 years ago for free because the bottom latch on the bin was broken. I had to fabricate a new latch since the part wasn't available. It's been a great vacuum.

I've still got a Dyson DC 25 bought around 2009/10. It's had a couple of replacement hoses and new sets of filters (bit like Triggers brush in Fools and Horses) and is still the best vacuum cleaner I've had. After last set of filters I replaced, the suction was so powerful I had trouble pushing it over carpets.

Just fitted a new sole plate and filters to my venerable old DC07. Best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. It will be a sad day when the old girl gives up altogether. Still also have my DC04 which resides upstairs and is now only used for vacuuming the bedrooms. Fitted a new clutch to it a few months ago and it’s still going strong.

My DC07 is 20 years old and still going. Tired of cleaning the brush bar though, time for something new. It is also fairly heavy and sometimes trips my living room circuit breaker if the TV is on.

Very interesting video thanks. I have one. An animal which is purple. Not a daily but now I know about the filters I shall clean it out and use it again close to where it’s stored. Thanks.

In 2023 im looking for a new dyson but im not impressed with the low power motors and the shorter handles of the new corded machines, no good when your over 6ft tall, I think Ill be buying a reconditioned DC07 to replace our DC04. hopefully it will last us another 20 years.

We have DC07 Animal (that is heavy at 11kg). We also have a DC24 (which I brought because my wife struggled carrying the DC07 upstairs). The DC24 weighs 5.4Kg. We also have a V6 Animal (great for cleaning out cars). The downside to it is it uses batteries. Of the 3 the DC07 has the best suction. Last year the motor burnt out. I made sure that the new motor I purchased was the same Wattage as the original motor. Now fitted it seems better than ever. We have rechristened it the Dyson Beast.

Would be great to see them in action picking up some bits, the DC07 was (or is?) the most powerful Dyson in terms of power usage, not necessarily air watts which shows how efficiency has taken a big leap forwards. I find my Dyson Small Ball often pushes bigger bits around rather than allowing it up into the vacuum which seemed to be less of an issue with the older 'less efficient' designed brush heads.

nice video, i had a dc 24 upright it wasnt big as i live in apartment so did the job but I found the cord was too short plus it only came with one tool and the see through hose broke on me after 5yrs I found the hose very flimsy also hard to use when it was switched on as the suction was so strong it pulled it back, but I bought a dyson animal cylinder and that works great now i find it much better

Thanks nice video. The ball style has problems with the tiny thin rubbery rings it rides on, they aren't attached very well and just fall off. I suggest anyone buying them take a few tubes of super glue and immediately glue them in place before they do fall off and you need to buy whole new ball wheels. I fix these things sometimes. The ball model also has a baffle directly behind the brush roller to guard against balls of fuzz and hair, but it jams up and reduces the suction greatly. It can be removed with various screwdrivers, I think one or two are Phillips the others torx? Anyway I always remove the baffle and increase the suction and reliability, though it may invite balls of stuff jamming the intake, small price to pay for overall improved performance.

I know cyclone separation technology has been around for ages. But is bagless always better and the technological multicyclone system????. Yes it may eliminate bags and filter fine particulate out, however static cling doesn't always direct the dander or the finer micron particulate into the dustbin. But it deposits it on the outside cavities of the tiered cyclone halves congregating possible allergens bacteria and whatnot in there. Slight humidity could also enhance existing bacterial growth. This centrifugal debris separation has a setback with the more tiers of radial cyclones added. The more the cyclones the finer the particulate and of course this is all happening in an active debris containment field where in fact you lose some suction in the debris separation process. There is a slight gain once you stop vacuuming and the machine still runs. The more cyclone passages vacuum has to go through the more compromise of suction there is. Yes in a bagged system you can lose suction however the dirt is more contained inside a bag with a quick open of the cover removing the bag and tossing it in a garbage bin. However if you think, emptying a bagless canister with a flip of a bottom door into a garbage may introduce dust back into the room of the fine floating particulate, or a breezy day and into a garbage outside could cause pollens and fine particles to release in the air. Also tapping the bottom of the canister to get the dirt out is not that great either because that gathers dust. Then you have to clean the inside of the canister either with another vacuum just to get the finer dirt out or disassemble the canister as a whole. To get at the build-up. It also doesn't matter if it's a cinetic. I think for lighter applications the Dyson is good, but for heavy floors and constant traffic areas a heavier duty bagged application is better. The drawback of Dyson is they don't make wet dry application vacuum cleaners or industrial vacuums. They may use close to industrial grade materials but not industrial applications. Drywall vacuuming is what kills a Dyson whether it's indoor dry application of drywall dust. Dyson should make a shop vac. The single tier 8 to 12 radial cyclone is by far the best and does the job just perfect for regular carpet use ( not so much animal which I wished they would have left that more for to the industrial vacuum industry). I have the DC 43 upright and the base design is identical to the UP series. They're awesome, single tiered and have plenty of suction. Drawback is heavier application like dry sawdust and drywall. It does pick that up but eventually it sacrifices the canister and causes blockage and great amounts of cling buildup of the canister. Not to add as mentioned, bacteria love dark and slight humid conditions and the cyclone canister could be a growth environment for bacteria and certain molds. I think a Dyson requires more maintenance than a bagless.

My 30 year old Kirby will still hold its own against a Dyson, on the straight away. But, OMG try turning that thing! I used to drive an M1 tank . . .the Tank was easier to turn. Then again both the tank and the Kirby will stop bullets (if anyone shot at me while vacuuming) lol

My deepest apologies sir, but this video was a whole bunch of what I didn't need and almost none of what I wanted. I was looking for a video that would show me how to access the features of the Dyson 7 and at least 80% less talking. Yes I like clear and concise facts and/or directions. I just don't like so much talking. So I don't forget why I clicked on the video. Your content is superior sir but your videos are long-winded please for the sake of us basic minded folk, please keep it short, sweet, and to the point. Now if your followers tell you I'm crazy or a Karen and crazy then please disregard my comment. This is just my humble opinion and yes I'm speaking for myself. Thank you for your content.

Do you know why it doesn't seem to pick up very well in carpet mode? The hose suction is awesome & the brush is spinning. I've checked filters & cleaned brush roll.
@lords-electrical

It could be that the brush roller needs replacing? Over the years the bristles run down and after a couple of years it could do with being replaced.

A lot of these parts will be replaceable, but you may struggle to get the parts now as its a pretty old vacuum.

First of the better performance Dyson machines I didn’t rate dc01/03/04 they were mega weak suction and soft brush rollers , I have a DC55 ball and that is quite decent performer, cordless is good but I still feel you need a good corded for that deeper clean every so often.
