This came my way a fair while ago, and now it is time to do something with it as somebody I know wants to buy it! So let's have a look at the down on it's look cylinder Dyson cleaner, see if it even works, and if it does, what it needs!
The refurbishment thread on this very machine is finally written up, nearly exactly 2 years on from filming this video! Ah how I sort of miss filming at my mums in my lunchbreak, although I don't miss that camera! manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,4444.msg34342/topicseen.html#msg34342
In my opinion, The DC33 was the last amazing upright produced by Dyson, V8 was the last amazing cordless by Dyson, and the DC20 Motorhead was the last decent cylinder produced by Dyson.
I broadly agree 👍 The newer machines are a great leap up in performance though, but at the cost of longevity/build quality. A Dyson light ball would out clean a dc33 but we both know which would last longer and clean 80% as well 😂
I have a one of these but a curry’s exclusive and it’s been assigned to use in the garden for the grass sucking up leaves and debris and car cleaning as well as the odd diy session great little vacuums let down by their attachments in my opinion .
Did you ever get the DC23 Turbinehead Animal and/or the DC23 Motorhead Animal in the U.K? I have had the Turbinehead version since 2015 and it's still amazing. Sits on stairs too, but doesn't stowaway like the Motorhead version.
I have a DC27 awaiting a refurb. It has a separate brush roll motor! Came after the DC14 and before the DC33, both of which use clutch instead. Not sure if you consider it "core" or not but I'm having difficulty finding much about it. Any hints/help appreciated.
I've heard of the dc27, but never had one. Join and post up on the manchestervacs forum, I know a chap had refurbed a few on there and can provide pointers!
Got given a Miele C3 to look at, filters were disgusting. Looks like it may have been briefly used without a bag...makes an awful noise and it only goes midway on the power setting before cutting out :(
Fan will be full of crap, you'll need to remove it and soak it in boiling water and washing up liquid a few times to clean it, then hope it's not taken the bearings with it
