Sometimes it's best to soak the parts in a clean mop sink with Luke warm dish soap water and let soak overnight and rinse and dry well afterwards. Helps gets the funky smell also out of the cyclone components

Now you can finally see how sophisticated the cyclone technology is from Dyson, as well as its assembly. Cheap garbage from other brands don't have this sophistication. Most brands have one cyclone which rely on filters.

The only problem is cyclone separators can be dangerous and aren't always industrial safe. The centrifugal forces can also separate gasses as well and any air that is purified in the center of that cyclone ( basically the eye of the storm) is all it takes if an ignition source gets into the vacuum, like a lit cigarette butt can explode the dust bin or the cyclone canister itself. Too much over technology or over speeding the cyclone effect isn't good either. One doesn't need to create such g forces to separate every fine particles in the dust. This also creates unwanted static cling because there's a lot of friction as well. Also bacteria that stay stuck in the fine particulate can reproduce over time if the vacuum isn't used. When taking those cyclones apart unwanted pathogens lurk in that dust which and are fine enough to imbed in the pores of your skin. Gloves should be worn while taking those apart and one doesn't want to inhale any of that particulate either. Moderate cyclone technology is fine, but going overboard with the cyclone technology isn't.

Hi thanks for this really helpful as we sucked up plaster with our-oops not recommended! Cleaned it all out with a toothbrush and drying now ready for reassembly. I can't beleive how many parts there are!

Ian Johnson pay particular attention to that bloody ring of tornados right in the guts. You might want to attempt the Re-assembly by yourself before trying to follow me putting it back together. I had to go backwards several times...i made several mistakes on re-assembly. Or maybe watch my re-assembly video a few times and watch for my mistakes and don't make the same 😉

The little dust scraper that clicked onto the side of the collection bin? I don't remember if it was in the bag with paperwork. Maybe you threw it out when you unboxed it?

Good thing you made a video. Otherwise there is no way it goes back together (= My skill set. You could do it in your sleep... ) Props to Dyson. That's an extremely complicated device!!!

found that if you take those layers that need torx screws out, the black and red gaskets immediately decide to shred themselves and the tornadoes leak :/

dfgdfg did you get them upside down?

dfgdfg you can buy a new bin for around 80 bucks.

It's built like a onion. Kind of deterring me from taking apart the one on the back porch, which needs a thorough cleaning and possible fastener replacement.

Caramel Flames the good news is...you can buy the bin as a spare part. Dyson lists it at $89 AU
