Just wondering what made you decide to buy the V10 and not the V11. I want that fluffy brush but it only comes with V10. After 3 months, are you still happy with yours?
Modern Castle - I just wanted to say that you helped me decide on what the best vacuum to spend on. Originally, I was planning to buy the v7 Dyson animal through amazon because there was a price drop, but through further reading and watching... I learned that the v10 was the best purchase price-wise for me. Your video helped me make that decision and I would like to thank you for that!
I have a malamute/husky mix. There is dog hair and then there is Malamute hair. I need to know if this can handle heavy-duty hair when my pup is blowing her coat.
Such a great comparison!! Thought I was going to have to find the extra money for the V11, but it looks like the V10 will be better for me! Thank you!!
The only way to review these vaccums properly is to give it to a single mom for a week. Yall are vaccuming stuff so slowly but for me i usually find cleaning a hassle so im usually speeding around trying get clean the house before I’m late for something.
Awesome review! I am getting the V11 absolute pro in the mail and a lot of review game me more question, you managed to give me the answers I was looking for.
Why on God's green earth would Dyson NOT include the fluffy hard floor cleaning head with the V11 is beyond comprehension. We've owned the V8 for three years now, and it's our primary vacuum cleaner we clean our entire home with. We use the fluffy hard floor cleaning head at least 5 times as much as we do the carpet cleaning head. I mean, we're a family of three, so we really have no need to vacuum our carpet every single day, but we do have two small chihuahua's and live in the dusty South West, so we do sweep our tile floors pretty much every day, or at the least we run the Dyson around our heavy traffic areas of the tile to get rid of any dusty foot prints and pet hair. I truly was interested in upgrading, as ours is about to go out of warranty, so I figured we'd just relocate the V8 to the second level of our home, and use the V11 on the main level for the heavier cleaning. However, now that I know it doesn't come with the fluffy hard floor cleaning head, which any family who has any amount of hard floors in their home will surely use that cleaning head the most, it's definitely a no sale for me. Sorry, Dyson, but you just lost a sale, and probably not only to my family, by not simply including that hard floor cleaning head with the V11. I'd buy a second V8 before I'd purchase a V11 with no hard floor cleaning head. Trust me, if you have any areas of hard floor, wood, tile, laminate, etc..., you'll use that hard floor cleaning head FAR more than you will the carpet attachment. However, the carpet attachment does a pretty amazing job on carpets, but it doesn't do a good job ob hard floors, and it would actually just end up ruining the carpet attachment by using it on hard floors.
All valid points, Ryan. I too don't understand why they didn't include it. Only made more confusing by the fact the UK version of the V11 DOES include the soft roller head. In any case...you might consider the V10 Absolute instead, which does include both floor cleaning heads. You can find it here - amzn.to/2n8Ogx7 Also, you should know that you can use your V8 soft roller head on the V11 if you want to go that route.
Got a v11 a week ago both power heads only work on max power replacement from Tyson still did nothing to fix the problem what a peace of s……t can’t wait to wait to return it
I am currently in the market for one of these specific models. Your video was insightful, easy to understand, and well timed. Good job! 👍🏽 I have a large house at @ 3,400 Sq ft. I have carpets in all bedrooms and Theater but I have hand scraped wood in large areas and tile in the bathrooms. I also have tons of Return Exchange Vents throughout. I also suffer from Allergies. I also have a large Shag Rug in my Family room over wood floors. I definitely want to also use it for my vehicles. I want the BEST VALUE. That being said, which would you recommend?
With that setup you NEED the soft roller head. So that means either Dyson V10 Absolute amzn.to/2n8Ogx7 OR The V11 Torque Drive amzn.to/2WYemD5 and add a standalone soft roller brush here amzn.to/3bKw4oj With delicate floors like that I would suggest only using the soft roller brush on them.
I like the idea of the fluffy head roller, but I do like that the V11 is more powerful. Is it possible to buy the fluffy head seperate? Would it be compatible with the V11?
Luv the v11 as a Multi ~Floor unit; throw rugs/hard floors (low) setting & med for everything else does an Outstanding job. Engineers recommend ALWAYS empty @ line (don't go over)& Faithful wipe~Off of (air filter when dumping) Longer LIFE is "Good"Air Flow; Daughter v10 w/fluffy head (has a toddler/dust~Allergies)but couldn't tell any difference using fluffy head on the v11
Hey. Great video. I really want to buy V11 but I heard from multiple people that’s it’s pretty heavy. What can u say about that ? Also which V 11 would you recommend?
It is heavier than other Dyson cordless vacuums (and many other cordless vacuums in general), but it's still very far from what I would consider heavy under any normal context. The V11 Outsize is the only cordless Dyson that I would consider to be somewhat difficult to handle in hand due to the size, weight, and weight distribution.
As for a recommendation, for most homes I think the V11 Torque Drive (amzn.to/2WYemD5) is the right call. If you have a huge home (3,500 square feet or more) then go with the V11 Outsize (geni.us/v11-outsize).
V10 absolute comes with soft roller and torque head and v11 animal comes with direct drive head only. Torque head is 25% more suction but v10 is 40 airwatts less and £50 cheaper in the uk. Which is the better buy?
If you have lots of carpets then v11 is the safest bet, otherwise v10 would be ok. I have tons of rugs and deep pile carpets. I could not use the V10 given it’s 35 minute run time with the floor tool.
I agree with Chris. If you have mostly carpet, get the V11 Torque Drive. Mostly hard surfaces, get the V10 Absolute. Avoid the V11 Animal if it only comes with Direct Drive head.
Thank you for the great reviews and comparison. Just wondering if it is possible to purchase the fluffy brush for the V11. If I am going to buy one, I would rather buy the newest model, but I have a lot of wood floors so it is a no brainer for me to get the fluffy brush. Thank u! I live in Canada, not sure if the models purchased here are any different than what the States have. Cheers!
I watched the upright videos and the stick videos. In the upright tests you tested hair tangling. But not in the stick vacuums. I've not used a stick vacuum, how do the sticks handle hair? Do they tangle? Also i only found Dyson stick comparisons. Will you have comparisons from other brands? Thank you
That has more to do with the recency of the video rather than difference between types. All new vacuums we're testing are getting long hair, pet hair, and hair tangling tests (in addition to a bunch of other new tests). We'll be updating our old content over the next 3-6 months, but it's going to take a while to fully update everything. High end stick vacuums handle hair well. Shark's new Stratos performed fantastic well. Review here - moderncastle.com/shark-stratos-cordless-review/ Any of the more recent Dysons are great, V10, V11, V12, V15.
Thank you for informative video. I do have some questions as this will be my first cordless vacuum purchase.. 1) if the V10 doesn’t have a digital display telling you how much battery life you have left…does that mean that as the charging life on the v10 decreases that suction power decreases too or does it complete shut off? So In the middle of vacuuming all of a sudden your vacuum doesn’t pick up dirt as well or does it stop working at a certain percentage of battery life left? 2) also, for the v10 absolute model that comes with the fluffy head to clean hardwood floors vs v11 which has intelligent suction..is it more convenient to have the v11 as you don’t have to attach a fluffy head to it? 3) can the fluffy head be used to clean vinyl flooring? Thank you
1) It just shuts off when the battery is dead. Suction power does not decrease as the battery goes down. 2) That's more of a personal preference. For me, I prefer to not have to change cleaning heads. 3) Yes
Is the V11 worth the extra money for pet hair removal from carpet? I have a German Shepherd who sheds A LOT. I know the V10 would work well for the majority of my house because I have a lot of hardwood and tile. But, I am really aiming to also replace my giant, heavy corded Oreck vacuum that vacuum's pet hair from my bedroom carpet like a dream. What do you think??
V10 Battery = 2,600 mah, 60 minute run time on low power, no estimated life (but it does include a 2 year warranty) V11 Battery = 3,600 mah, 60 minute run time on low power, estimated life of 15 years (according to Dyson), longer run times on higher power modes compared to the V10
Thanks for the info. I was going to buy the V11 as Costco wil be having a sale making it the same price as the V10 Absolute. A woman on Facebook told me that the V10 Absolute has slightly more suction power but that sounds the opposite of what you said. Also, do the Animal versions imply that they work better on pet hair or is that just the name?
Yeah, that's just untrue. V11 has more suction power than V10. Animal is just a name. It isn't any better / worse than the Absolute / Torque drive versions.
@@ModernCastle Are there any issues with the torque head scratching hardwood floors making the fluffy head a necessity ? Also, does the extra weight affect the experience and maneuverability at all ? Does your hand feel tired ? Lastly, can you still get a "deep clean" with a v10 albeit with a few more passes than the v11 ? Thanks a lot for your reviews :)
I have a V10 motorhead and need to replace the main brush. Hesitating btw the "v10 direct drive cleaning head" OR the "v11 torque drive cleaning head" The v11 torque would work on the v1o actually?
Like. Useful video. I have a question. Which one do you recommend for hard wooden floors? I have no carpets or rugs at all. I like technology, though. I wonder if they have V11 with the soft roller head or would I have to 'extra' buy it? Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas!
I would say the Dyson V10 Absolute , since it includes the soft roller head. Unfortunately, the soft roller head is not available on the V11 in most countries. The UK is the only country I'm aware of where it includes it. But if you're in the US and many others, you'll just get the multi-surface.
With the V10 and V11 you really don't need any attachments, you could use the full size head on the wand or just put the full sized cleaning head in handheld mode. Outside of that, the mini motorized brushroll would be the best choice.
Any version of the V11 would be perfectly fine. Dyson's "Animal" model naming is a bit of a misnomer. Functionally, there is very little difference between any of the sub-model variants.
Most of them are. Things like HEPA filters, not as much. But the attachments and accessories generally are. If it has the red button, it probably works. See here for more - moderncastle.com/dyson-attachment-guide/
Will more powerful V11 with V10’s soft roller have better hardwood floor cleaning result? I wonder if I need to spend $600 on V11 plus $100 soft roller add-on to see that “Better” result. Thanks.
Yes, that would be the ultimate cleaning performance. Since the V11 has a stronger motor it should also yield better performance with both the multi-surface brushroll and the soft brushroll.
Since I ripped out all of my carpet and installed vinyl planks I am looking at the V10 Absolute. I also have 6 dogs- including 2 Husky's and 2 Dalmatians- that are heavy shedders. Will the V10 Absolute handle the pet hair on the furniture and floors?
It did fling a few grains of rice out. Basically every vacuum we've tested to date that uses a bristle brushroll is going to fling rice on hard surface flooring to some degree. If you're worried about that you should definitely opt for the V10 Absolute to get the soft roller head, which is better equipped to not fling rice, as the soft roller grabs onto it better.
On the Costco website for members ( I recently joined) it says dyson V11 Animal + cordless stick vacuum - is $479.99. So confusing. Is this the same as the V11 torque ? If so, this is the best price now for 10 and 11. At this price I could later buy the soft roller cleaner if needed. Would appreciate hearing your feedback please as the name of this is different without the word torque.
No, the V11 Animal is not the same as the V11 Torque Drive. It's similar, but there are differences. Most notably, the lack of an advanced digital display. Costco, like many big retailers, gets their own special versions of Dyson vacuums. As a result, there may be even more differences compared to the standard models. Last year my mother purchased a V10 from Costo, which while it did have most of the same functionality and features as the standard V10, it included a more basic brushroll. I would expect the reason the V11 Animal's price is lower is for similar reasons (though I have not tested the version from Costco so I cannot say for sure). This isn't to say the V11 Animal at Costco is bad...far from it. It's still probably has all the core features and functions. However, I imagine it probably doesn't have everything the more standard SKU would include. Hope that helps!
Thanks so much! Then it looks like the best price right now for V11 is on amazon for 651!! The v10 is only about $50 less I saw somewhere. Wish I could find it on sale ! July 4 !!??
@@katek3680 They do. The V10 was on sale at Amazon for 2 months, though it's back to its normal price now. The older models seem to go on sale more often than the newer ones.
If you could get a refurbished v11 and a new v10 at the same price what would you recommend?? I have hard wood floors downstairs and carpet upstairs. Thanks
If you can afford it, get the Absolute. It's the best of the 3 models. If not the Absolute, get the Animal, which loses the soft roller brush, but you still keep the more advanced Torque Drive brushroll. V10 Motorhead has the more basic direct drive brushroll. Not to say it's bad, but objectively worse compared to Animal and Absolute.
@@Eifellassie V10 Absolute. The soft roller brush is ideal for your tiles, and the multi-surface will be ideal for carpets (especially since you have a dog)
..are these v11 or v10 compatible with non wooden floor? i have a tile floor, still dont know what to choose between v11 or v10..pls comment, need help.thanks.
@@ModernCastle hi there sorry that I'm late I just purchased the v11 torque does the soft roller brush that came with the V10 fit V11 if so would I be able to purchase the soft roll brush from the V10 somewhere online Because the roller brush that came with the v11 is making me work very hard to vacuum the hardwood floors
@@ModernCastle oh wow thanks I have read a lot of reviews as well as question answers all over the internet and no one has mentioned this or is aware of this this v11 roller Thanks a million this is a lifesaver
I've recently learned that I've become allergic to dust and dust mites. I presently have a corded budget vacuum 50 $/€ with a hepa filter of 95.5% since 2 year back. Is upgrading to a Dyson v10 worth it? I also have an air purifier since I really want to get rid of the menace of sinus issues and headaches.
If you indeed are allergic then yes, I think it would be more than worth it. Dyson's HEPA filter removes 99.97% of particulates, so that's going to be a substantial impact over what you currently have.
@@ModernCastle To be honest, I had a positive allergy test in Malta (prick test) then another negative blood test in Sweden. Waiting for another appointment for a prick test again to truly confirm, which may be in 2-3 months... The symptoms point to it, since I'm not sick otherwise. And in these Trying Times™ stuck at home, I'm kind of thinking of saying "screw it" and buy a proper, portable vacuum cleaner for more reasons than the potential allergy. So the difference is that noticeable, even if it's just about a few parts of a percent difference? I've read briefly about sealed air flow, which I suppose my budget sucker doesn't have.. Thank you for taking the time to answer me, man!
@@chinchilla415 Yeah...that's another good point, even if your vacuum has a HEPA filter it may not be a sealed system, in which case the HEPA filter won't be anywhere near as effective. Beyond the vacuum, I'd strongly suggest you consider an air purifier also. Vacuums are remove particulates that are heavy enough to fall to the floor, but there are plenty of lighter than air particulates floating in the air in your home. We've tested a ton of air purifiers which you can find here - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/ Let me know if you have any questions.
@@ModernCastle Thank you. I got one, actually! A Coway one with good review and recommendations. Right now I'm viewing Dyson as a good choice to go for, and will be brooding on your advice. Seems to be either v8, v10 or v11. Thank you for posting your videos. Air quality and vacuum cleaners are horribly underrated. Me saying this truly cements the fact that I'm 35 in two weeks.
I just got a V11. I have all hardwoods. It’s basically useless without the soft roller head. Dyson told me the V10 head will work. So another $125 spent! 😡👎🏼
Modern Castle I’ve already used it a few times and ordered the new head. Not sure that I can return it. I don’t mind, just wish it came with both heads or an option of one or the other. The head it comes with has a sort of balloon thing on it so when you’re pulling backwards it sort of “plows” debris rather than sucking it up.
@@kishorek6027 For the record - I have not had any issues with the Torque Drive head on my hardwood floors either. It's design is definitely better than previous multi-surface cleaning heads. Though I can understand why some people want the soft roller head.
Yikes...that is really terrible. It's supposed to last the life of the vacuum 8-10'ish years. Only made more worse that it's just outside of the 2 year warranty. It might be worth at least contacting Dyson's support to see if they'd do anything for you.
@@ModernCastle I contacted them, they told me the 2 year warranty on it had matured (by 6 months) and offered to help me place an order for a replacement battery ($149.99) or 20% on a new vacuum. Still a small price to pay compared to a new vacuum even with a discount. Definitely not what envisioned when I bought my V11 Animal. I happened to have an new extra cordless Dyson just laying around (jk, my employer gifted it to me and I thought I'd hold onto it until I move out of my parents' house). I started using my new V10 Absolute and I'm impressed. I'd recommend this over any other Dyson cordless vacuum. The Dok thing it came with (only offered with the V10 Absolute) makes it the best in terms on bang for your buck. I hope this one lasts!
@@irmaxvx Disappointed. I would hope they would do more. $150 for a replacement battery is just absurd though. If / when you're ready to buy a new battery just buy a 3rd party one via Amazon. You can get a new battery for $50-$70. The 3rd party batteries I've bought up to this point have always been perfect.
@@ModernCastle I agree. I have put the vacuum away for now. I'm so glad you told me about the third party batteries because here I was trying to be a loyal customer and only trusted Dyson. I was going to wait until next year to buy it from Dyson's site but since you haven't had an issue with them being from a third party I will go ahead and try one. Thank you for your replies and recommendation!
Hi. I have decided on v10 animal. But need to know if the fluffy head I Already own from My v6 is compatible to v10 animal. İf not ı have to change my choice to v10 absolute.
More suction (220 aw vs. 185 aw), larger dust bin, and larger cleaning head (25% wider). See full comparison here - moderncastle.com/dyson-outsize-vs-v11-outsize-vs-outsize-absolute/
Hello I have wooden floor downstairs in 2 living room with area partially covered by rugs as well and all 3 rooms with fitted carpet upstairs. Which one will be the best buy for me V10 absolu, v10 animal, v11 animal or v11 absolu, which is also available in the UK but compariticely very expensive. Thank u in advance
I'd opt for the V11 Animal, with the V10 Absolute being a close 2nd. While the Fluffy brush that comes with the V10 Absolute is nice, I think the improved suction, better brushroll, and longer run time on the V11 is better comparatively speaking. Regarding the V11 Absolute, it's indeed the best overall, but probably not worth the extra cost relative to what you get for it.
@@ModernCastle Many thanks for your valuable suggestion. Yeah i am also more inclined toward V11 as well tbh😀 Should i go for V11 Torque drive or Animal,Torque drive being 50£ more expensive. Will V11 Animal serve the purpose overall? Thanks..
@@touseefhamidi8806 It really just depends on if you want the better display or not. If yes, go Torque Drive. If no, go Animal. Our full comparison is here - moderncastle.com/dyson-v11-torque-drive-vs-outsize-vs-animal-vs-outsize-origin/
@@ModernCastle dear here v11 absolute model available and comes with a soft roller cleaner head while torque doesn't. Do you think you necessarily needs soft roller head for hard wooden floor or torque will be able to do the job alright? Please guide on this,as I am planning to have 1 out of these 2
@@touseefhamidi8806 Soft roller is definitely better for hard surface flooring, but the Torque Drive is also fine for most as well. If you have lots of hard surfaces in your home and/or you a delicate hard surface flooring then it might be worth it. If not, then probably not.
Modern Castle good to include in the review, I have a V10 and looking to acquire a new V11 if accessories and charger are compatible, otherwise shame back to another V10.
@@wongshukok All of the other accessories would be compatible. And I believe the charger will still work. It's just the wall mount that you'll need to swap out.
