Most impressive video ever. It’s so detailed and precise in making you understand the purpose of Dyson and what is right and that isn’t. A real treat to watch and learn about the product. Simply fantastic

Thanks. Many of the videos on my channel attempt to do justice to the best technology I've come across on these products that make the vacuuming chore easier-mostly from Dyson it seems, given they pioneer and others copy. Hopefully their next flagship product will be released in March, so we'll see what's in it.

Thanks for the review. I love my Dyson v11. Best vacuum I’ve ever had. It cleans amazing and it does everything it says. You pay for what you get. Oh and yes. We now only own a Dyson V11 and our Dyson V7. Which is also a great cleaner. No battery issues and I can clean all sorts with zero issues.

We bought the V10 on Black Friday because the V11 wasn't on sale. The next day the V11 went on sale for only a $100 more so I returned the V10 and got the V11. In that quick day of only using it a couple times it was easy to tell how much better the V11 is. Sound levels alone made my wife state that the V11 was worth it, let alone the auto mode and superior cleaning.

The reviewer in the link below showed the Outsize version of the V11 struggling to pick up larger debris on carpet. As others have pointed out, this is because the gates were not open on the cleaner head to allow larger debris in. However, the reviewer claimed this was deliberate because gates closed is the intended setting for high pile carpets. A fact-check in the manual of the Dyson V11 Outsize (page 9) ( www.dyson.com/content/dam/dyson/maintenance/user-guides/en_US/vacuumcleaners/stick-vacuums/sv16/298706-01.pdf ) explains that the height of the front gate should be adjusted to the debris size. The manual does not support the suggestion by the reviewer that the gates should be closed in such circumstances or that a user should suffer from snowploughing. In fact, it even states that gates fully open is intended for use on deeper pile carpets to also act as suction relief if difficult to push. The claims made by that review provide a misleading and inaccurate view of the capabilities of this product, and I encourage people to fact-check the trustworthiness of the claims made for themselves by checking against the manual. Even on thick carpet, large debris will not be snowploughed as shown if the user uses the machine correctly and as instructed. I left this comment on their channel but was blocked, suggesting they knew they were being misleading and didn't want to face the music. Beware. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MLThp5x4o6w.html

Great vacuum I bought mine last week. I noticed that some show the soft head it didn't come with. I suppose I could still buy one separately. I have back and wrist issues - would the Dyson V11 be too heavy for me to hold when not using the stick? Plus I would need one for hard floors so that I believe needs to be taken into consideration with model. Thank you
@VacuumFacts

I don't see why so more than any other vacuum. It's very light and ergonomic so probably much less so than other vacuums, even other cheap clone stick vacs which are heavier and without the ergonomics. This is also designed for all floors and performs amongst the best overall.

Hi, how does the V11 compare to the V11 outsize? Apart from the obvious larger bin size and head size. I have read the outsize has more cyclones, does this make it perform any better than the regular V11? Thanks
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
Its performance is pretty much the same as far as is marketed. The extras are to compensate for the increased size to maintain cleaning effectiveness. Having to juggle with battery management is a very inelegant and polluting solution, so the V11 is better for the majority of people in that regard, especially for smarter, bitesized cleaning.
@tknson
@tknson 4 года назад
Love my V11! Interesting note about the accidental press of the trigger with the bin down, would you say this could potentially clean the cyclones of dust and into the filter?
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
The cyclones don't get dust-loaded due to the high aerodynamic forces and so there's no need to clean them. The internal cyclone dust chamber is supposed to be dusty throughout its entire lifetime (except when factory new of course) and in no way causes any performance or odour issues as discussed here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B8gOZ31CkvE.html . Being able to turn the machine on when the bin is open is a design flaw as far as I'm concerned given there are no advantages and only disadvantages. Hopefully they'll fix it for the next generation.

Can you test if the high torque can work on V10? I don't think it will be quite as energy which since it doesn't have auto but if it is backwards compatible then that would be great to get 30% cleaning in carpet instead of what I have which is old direct drive Motorhead

There are benefits to the cordless formfactor over the old-fashioned upright model. They both clean well. It's your decision really. Look at the pros and cons of each and make a decision. Hi, your videos on Kirby and Dyson V10 and V11 helped me a lot to make my decision on purchasing (a V11). I am in Europe and I will be ordering it from abroad, and I hope when it says V11 Absolute that it's the one with the Fluffy head. I have a question regarding woolen carpets. The ones I own are low-medium pile wool, but still delicate. I ran them over with a Kirby G5 (the one I currently have and wish to replace). They still look and feel good. I am taken aback with people on the internet saying "You loose warranty on your carpet if you use a Dyson", "You can't use a Dyson", etc. ... I am planning to buy some new carpets anyway so I don't want to ruin them (my Kirby G5 is "toothless" at the moment with it's brushes worn out basically...) What is your opinion on that? On one hand there are instructions saying woolen carpets should be vacuumed without brush rolls. I disagree, I think they need brushing as much as other carpets do...you just need to take care not to shave them... I actually contacted Dyson about this question, and their answer (actually, it's not "their", it was from an individual at their customer service, so that's debatable also) was to choose the V10 model because "it's gentler" power-wise. I am having my doubts about this decision. As you pointed out in your video, you can get a fair bit of "gentler" suction and therefore brushing if you open the front vents, right? Thank you very much on your videos and hope you have the time to reply!
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
Hi. Claims about losing a warranty by using a Dyson product are pure propaganda. You can automatically distrust anyone who says that or who stands by them. If the Kirby caused no problems for your delicate carpet, worn brush or not, then neither will the Dyson (or likely any vacuum). Carpets are designed to withstand vacuum cleaners; in fact, any carpet that wasn’t, wouldn’t be worth having. The Dyson manual ( www.dyson.co.uk/content/dam/dyson/maintenance/user-guides/en_GB/vacuum-cleaners/sticks/dysonv11stick/281477-01.pdf ) advises that you can use ‘-‘ mode for delicate carpets.

@VacuumFacts

Whether it's worth it is a subjective matter really, determined by the individual paying. If people sold their V10 and paid the resultant upgrade price, like I did, it will work out cheaper than buying new.

What is this like on thick pile carpet on auto setting? Iv got a V8 at the moment and because the floor head is so light, it kind of just skips over the top of the carpet rather than sticks to it to be able to clean deep enough. I know you have previously had a light ball (as do i) and this would be to replace the light ball. Light ball is fine on my thick pile carpets so hopefully you can give me a good comparison. When i say “thick pile”, my carpet is almost identical to yours at 22:52. Cheers
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 3 года назад
Comparable to a light ball in terms of head sticking (especially on '+' mode on auto). It cleans amazingly well in auto mode too. The Light ball finds very little afterwards, even if you haven't used it for a long time and only used the V11. I'd save up and wait for a V12 at this stage though.
@dikofdeath
@dikofdeath 3 года назад
Thank you for your reply. I was thinking that but who knows when the V12 will be out and i can imagine it will be £600+. It is reassuring to hear that it sucks as well as the light ball, i was reading that is only used 30(ish) AW on auto compared to the 100AW that the light ball uses all of the time.

Yeah, gates down in auto-mode sucks so hard that it deep-cleans the carpets really quickly. With regular housekeeping, dust doesn't wiggle that deep between regular vacuumings, so you can get good enough cleaning with gates in the middle, which makes it far easier to push and not a workout. Plus, then you don't ever need to change any setting; just take off the wall and use.

If the V11 came with the fluffy head brush, i would keep it but since just buying just the fluffy head to add to the V11 will put me right at the same price of the V15, the V11 is going back, even though it is an awesome vacuum. Can you do a comparison with the Tineco S12? I've heard great things about it
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
What have you heard? What does the manufacturer say and how does it compare on paper? For example, do they explicitly market that their product can replace a mains-powered cleaner directly? If they don't then it's junk. The best cordless cleaners have been able to for a couple of years now. There are only two I'm aware of; the V10 and the V11. What about everything else that's important (usability, environmental impact, specifics of underlying technology)? The reality is, the Tineco S12 product line is a Dyson cash-in clone that doesn't do as good a job in any area you look at of its technology.
@Mudig
@Mudig 4 года назад
@@VacuumFacts It is directly competing with the Dyson and holds up. It has a more powerful suction than the V10 while the V11 just barely beats it. It has better features and it's LCD display is more informative. It uses a different method to conserve battery than the V11 by increasing power whenever it detects more dirt. I just think maybe you should try one. The filtration system is also the only one that is as good as the Dyson.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
Some of these things they mention on their marketing page, but it's not wholly convincing because they don't evidence any of it. It's not clear how you've reached your interpretations of their marketing either. For example, what do you mean by 'better features' and why are they are better? How is the LCD more informative? What information does it provide that is confirmed useful? What is the method you mention that it uses to conserve battery? How much more effective is it? Where is the data? How does the battery life compare? You do realise that it's absurd logic to suggest that if it can't detect dirt, there isn't any there and it doesn't need as strong suction? It's well established, utterly basic physics that more suction = more airflow through resistive pile, and therefore more potential to clean (pile separation is also critical), up to the onset of clamping. That system sounds utterly wrong and marketed to trick people who don't understand. Is it fade-free performance? What about weight? You claimed the filtration system is as good as the Dyson one; how, in what way, and where is the evidence? While I wouldn't not mind trying one; they're grossly overpriced for what you get, and I don't feel even slightly compelled to try one from the lack of good, evidence-supported reasoning presented.
@Mudig
@Mudig 4 года назад
@@VacuumFacts The display is more informative because it shows you important information such as the amount of dirt it's detecting. It's a more sensible method to conserve battery life than what Dyson came up with. The Dyson just increases suction based on whether it's on carpets or not regardless if the carpet has dirt embedded in it or not. You will never know how dirty it is. The Tineco is lighter and more ergonomic. It has a trigger lock which the Dyson still refuses to include for some reason. The Tineco motorized head also gets far less tangles. The main thing it's significantly worse at than the Dyson is separating dirt from the filter. It also has an app that keeps track of just how much dirt you're picking up.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
OK, reflecting on that. Given that there are good reasons why the amount of dirt being detected is irrelevant, that’s not a useful bit of info to show on the screen. I don’t want to be reading a screen while I’m vacuuming; I just want to get the vacuuming done. What dirt remains in the carpet is more important and that is measured formally using industry standard testing. Dyson’s method increases suction in situations known to require more suction. Carpets require more suction because they resist airflow; without that higher suction and pile airflow, dirt can remain trapped in the pile. It’s true Dyson assumes higher suction is required on carpet-and that’s because why else would you be vacuuming if the carpet wasn’t dirty? So, it’s a perfectly reasonable assumption. And conversely, it is well-established that on hard floor, less suction is needed to achieve total pickup. So, if the Tineco system detects dirt on a hard floor, it will waste battery power by increasing suction when it’s simply not needed. You still also haven’t accounted for the problem I pointed out on carpets. If it doesn’t detect dirt-because it’s trapped deeper down and needs greater suction to remove-and switches to low power mode to ‘conserve battery’, then you’ll not get a good cleaning result. The ‘smart’ system works against the user. Again, where is the industry test data to prove it actually works? It’s because it doesn’t and they know it; any company that can show formally through independent testing that they clean the best will proudly advertise it, as Dyson does. Also, what is the battery life? Presumably it’s longer than the V11 (under situations where it should clean as well), otherwise all the claims about saving battery life are completely irrelevant if it doesn’t even last as long. Where is that data? And what about product weight? You say it’s lighter, but didn’t actually give any numbers, especially in light of battery life. Anyone can half the battery capacity and say it’s lighter. The Dyson V11 battery is extremely light yet provides huge run time greater than both batteries provided by competitor products. And then there’s all the other factors that are important to cleaning performance other than just suction and pile-airflow alone, such as pile separation. I've discussed and shown all this in great detail in other videos. The reason why the trigger lock isn’t included is well-explained and documented. I've even discussed it in my videos. In short, a trigger lock promotes battery power wastage and reduced battery service lifetime. Intelligent use of a trigger gives up to 30% more battery run time on a charge. There’s no situation when cleaning floors where a trigger lock would even be beneficial. Dyson’s trigger is feather touch and requires no more force than holding the handle, so ‘hand-tiredness’ is a lie. And where is the evidence the motorised tool gets ‘far less tangles’, as you’ve claimed? You're making a lot of claims but not backing any of them up. Anyone can do that and that’s not how you convince anyone. And what’s the point of an app that tracks how much dirt you’re picking up. I can already see what I pick up in the bin and other than that, I don’t really care. That’s just more work messing with an app. There’s literally nothing about the Tineco that’s appealing to me the more you talk about it-and in fact, the more I'm seeing that makes it so much worse and not worth my time, exactly as suspected from initial review of its marketing.

Thanks. The Dyson cordless cleaners are intended for home use and not for those providing a cleaning service, who vacuum far more than typical home users. As such, the lack of battery hot-swappability for that purpose is a moot point. When it's included for these home use products, it's a sign of technological inferiority and shouldn't be respected at all, given the significant additional environmental harm it does, not to mention battery management hassle and ripping off the customer who can get their cake and eat it now with better products.

Though that is very much targeting owners of larger footprint housing or small business users) which mitigates the environmental concern.

@VacuumFacts 3 года назад
@@craiglawrence5211 Yes, for most bite-sized home use. I'm sure it was introduced mainly to cater for their foray into the commercial world, where such a feature is a clear advantage with current battery technology. The other point I was making was why hot swappable battery tech was introduced in non-Dyson copycat models. Their machines were so inefficient and power guzzling that they absolutely had to bundle tons of batteries with the machine to match run times, and therefore needed hot swappability. Dyson could get away without the battery management hassle and a single battery because their motors were much more efficient. People didn't register this and failed to see the introduction of a hot swappable in non-Dyson machines as a copout. I still think it's unnecessary for most people with the V15. Again, Dyson introduced it at the time they moved into the commercial world with lots of floor space and much heavier usage than in a home, which makes sense. Dyson still only bundle one battery in most models. But when you see copycats bundling 3 or more batteries (at cost to the user) just to match run times, people should be aware of the unnecessary pollution their total lack of efficiency is causing. Dyson may now be guilty, but nothing like on the scale of the copycats, minute-for-minute runtime compared.

Even in the rare off-chance of a battery failure, two screws to slot a new one in was suc a minor issue. There's also no need for two batteries for most use cases either; unlike inefficient competitor products, 1 battery lasts far longer than any sensible person would want any single cleaning session to be, and smarter vacuuming this wall-charging, cordless formfactor allows means people can break cleaning up into more bitesized, manageable, and less tiring sessions. It's a trivial upgrade really from what I can tell.

Took a bit of getting used to but it's so much better. Maybe upstairs one day, downstairs another. Couple of rooms here, couple of rooms there when it suits or is needed if high traffic. Plonk it back on the wall to charge when done. Never needed more run time. But yes, for those that favour an endurance clean, then more batteries (at the expense of the wallet and environment) can help and the hotswap can help. LOOP PILE CARPETS I love the Dyson stick series of vacuum cleaners, and your review of the V11 is excellent - except that you have again not mentioned the effect that these motorised heads will have on loop pile carpet (irrespective of the gates feature). Loop pile is a popular carpet, so the consumer needs to be in the know, prior to purchasing one of these cleaners, about how a considerable amount of loop pile carpet fibre can be worn down at the top of the loops as the dust and debris are extracted. Dave
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 5 лет назад
Let's just skip to the end of a boring conversation we've had several times before on loop. Probably not suited for loop pile carpets and owners that are precious about 'fuzzing', so the likely tiny number of people who have them, globally, should look elsewhere. Oh dear, what a shame.

Vacuum Facts Likely tiny number? On what basis do make such a contention? Boring? If your carpet were not cut pile, and you didn’t know about this issue prior to purchasing such an expensive cleaner, how would you feel, Johnny? By all means, try your Dyson on a red loop pile rug (as I have with my V7) and tell me just how much red carpet fibre is extracted, mixed in with the grey dust. You should have mentioned the loop pile concern in your V11 review; it surprises me that didn’t. Dave
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 5 лет назад
Lack of evidence to the contrary (you original said it was popular without supporting evidence), and simple deduction given the hugely wide range of carpets available and only one category is loop pile (confirmed on national carpet retail websites). If I didn't know about this issue before purchase, I'd feel like a total and utter idiot for failing to bother to research beforehand if it's such a big issue. Then I'd take advantage of the money back guarantee. But of course, it's a non-issue and you're literally the only person who talks about it, which says it all. It wasn't mentioned in the review because of the lack of genuinely convincing evidence that it's relevant and widely a concern. You're welcome to provide some. Boring topic. When I see convincing evidence as above, I'll comment again; until then all conversations about a loop pile issue will be literally ignored.

I think it's a poor misstep by Dyson to pander to a mindless audience who thinks doubling everything is automatically better without considering things more carefully, and who apparently can't seem to grasp the bitesized cleaning approach over the tiring mega-clean chore they seem to be unable to develop beyond. Dyson have fundamentally undermined their entire argument about doing things right by kludging a double-battery double-pollution solution for capitalist gain, rather than solving it more elegantly with new technology. On the plus side, they're only supplying this to a US audience (and possibly limited other markets), and I also suspect this is just a temporary state of affairs as they continue to work on their new battery technology which will provide these benefits and more with a single-battery solution. The usual dodgy YT channels that don't seem to have a clue about anything other than the cosmetic, seem to have fallen for it hook, line, and sinker and drool over a removable battery rather than seeing the consequences of that. The rabid vacuum enthusiasts must also be recoiling back into their own toxic pool of bile to hear me criticise Dyson; it fundamentally undermines their entire stupid argument that I'm a Dyson fanboy. "Propagandists", "Haters", "Naysayers" - words so overused throughout this review, you were beginning to sound insecure about your purchase. I did watch the whole thing however, and am now about to purchase a new Dyson V11 thanks to your advice. Despite the insecurity reference, the detail you went into really convinced me that you know exactly what is important, and what isn't. No other RU-vid review of the V11 had achieved that, as much as I wanted them to. Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it. As you rightly concluded, the facts and evidence presented in the video speaks for itself. If you spend time looking around though, you'll notice the propaganda, hatred, and naysaying that you felt constituted potential 'insecurity' on my part, and you'll realise it was nothing of the sort and there is genuine palpable hatred of the Dyson brand out there, purely because of their objective superiority. Every opportunity to believably, but misleadingly smear the technology is taken (and the rest of the videos on my channel debunk those myths and attempts to falsely harm the image of genuinely good technology). The tribalism out there in some enthusiast communities is really quite shocking. I do understand how simply echoing this could be interpreted as overdoing it. While I don't think I overdid it given how familiar and exposed to the hatred I am than most (a lot of the bile gets channelled directly to my videos in fact), I will reflect on how it might come across to others less familiar, and how I might present future reviews to avoid the risk of misinterpretation. Thanks for the feedback.

@@VacuumFacts You're welcome. And just to re-iterate, the insecurity comment was only an immediate perception not an accusation. I really liked that you addressed what seems like all the "issues" raised by other so-called reviews. I'm just saying that you didn't need to echo the name calling so much. The fact that you can credibly refute false observations with facts and clear demonstrations is more than enough to win people over. One of the reasons I avoided Dyson for so long was my own sense that the products looked and felt very cheap and tacky when you hold them and see them close up. I also see a lot a negative reviews about Dyson fans which I think are justified - mostly because Dyson themselves set false expectations about "room cooling" capabilities. Having said all that, and having watched your review, I feel that the plastic design and build is justified in the case of the cordless vacuums, and that Dyson fan performance is not a good proxy for cordless vacuum performance!

I have this unit but lets keep things real. This is not a good stand alone house cleaning vacuum. It is fantastic for quick clean ups and light clean. No battery vacuum comes even close to much less expensive corded vacuums in performance. Great little tool but not even close to geting the job done of a $300 corded vacuum.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
Performance testing shows it exceeds many mains cleaners. It has completely replaced my mains unit, and that was a high end product. Only two battery powered devices have achieved this; the V10 and the V11, and they are the only two which are marketed as mains replacements. There is plenty of evidence on YT of people cleaning large houses in a single go with the V11-not that smart housekeeping nowadays involves a weekly-chore whole-house mega clean in one go. Smarter use that this formfactor allows involves breaking it up into shorter, easier, bitsized sessions. This product has 'changed my life' when it comes to the annoying chore of vacuuming. It's true that it is fantastic for quick clean ups, but the rest of your opinion simlpy doesn't match the evidence.

Vacuum Facts I’m not a hater of Dyson & I really wished it was okay for people with disabilities because it does pick up heaps of dirt. It’s not good for having to clean the cleaner so much. I watched heaps of reviews videos on RU-vid & was so excited about getting it. Not one video said much about the filter or blockages, just how to clean it not how in-depth I had to be st cleaning the whole machine. I did use the machine as directed emptied the dust collector before it got to the full level shook out as much as possible the debris around all areas. I was absolutely covered in dust by the end of using it for 30-40 minutes & cleaning it for over 1hr trying to get it working again, the only way was putting a new filter on it, & I really did do a good job of trying to get all the dust out if the filter it came with, eventually I got it working too. If I didn’t have disabilities then I’d most probably kept it, but still didn’t like the blockages so much & over time the amount of dust collected would’ve reduced but I just don’t have the ability to use it. I thought I’d just put this with the comments. Also sorry for how I wrote the first comment it wasn’t the greatest way of saying a comment 🍻 Dyson’s recommendation due to my disabilities was to get a refund as I couldn’t look after it the way it needs to be.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
OK. In contrast, I've been using it for the better part of a year and the filter hardly has any dust on it. And you can see in my other videos just how much fine dust I've been picking up. The only way I know of to dirty the V11 filters is to either abuse the machine or fail to follow the simplest of instructions-namely empty the bin before the max fill line and don't turn the machine on when the bin is open (this is outlined in the manual). I've got other video evidence (coming) showing no performance loss even if you fail to wash the filter for several times longer than the manual recommends. As has been proven scientifically and held up in court, Dyson machines don't ever lose suction if you follow the instructions correctly. If your disabilities prevented you from looking after it the way it needs to be as you say, then it's good you got a refund. Given that Dyson machines are the easiest to use and have less maintenance than any other when used correctly, I know of no other machine that will be less difficult to use correctly. Every other machine has a bag or filter which acts as the primary dust separator and gets blocked and dirty much more quickly.

@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 4 года назад
Dyson abandoned the electric vehicle because it could not be commercialised profitably (like their washing machine) in the end, not because it wasn't a good idea or the product wasn't good. Their batteries however are a different matter entirely; they are a component, not a product, and, like their industry-leading power-dense micro-motors, have wide application potential in many product lines. Competitors are still about 10 years behind Dyson in power dense small motors, which is really embarrassing for the tech industry. Solid state batteries will take off big and completely supersede Li-ion in the next 5 years as they mature. I suspect Dyson will get to commericalisation first, but many other big name companies are hot on their heels and investing big, and will follow possibly this year. It's a major technology that is about 20 years behind due to neglect of support for academic research back when Li-ion was completed. Serves the short-sighted profiteering industry fiscally-conservative suits right, yet the rest of us lose out. Dyson bought the academic spin out companies from which the technology derived. Following on from solid state technology will be the other competing chemistries which are vastly superior still. Dyson apparently has other competing technologies in-house being developed. 20 years behind, but battery tech is finally undergoing its renaissance.

@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 5 лет назад
There's no need to worry about the battery. No one has ever shown, in a formal, trustworthy, and reproducible way, that the battery on Dyson cordless lose their charge. Some haters vaguely claim they have, but no good evidence that's convincing. Testing shows they lose about 80% of their max original charge after about 15 years relative to competitors' after only 5 years (assuming used responsibly with the trigger and not max mode all the time). The V11 warns you if you use max mode all the time that it damages battery health. And even if you win the bad-luck lottery and the battery dies, at worst, it's £50 for a new one.

You have created an absolutely fantastic video on a product by a company that are the leaders in vacuuming technology and every point that you have made, I totally agree with. I honestly believe that for those that differ our opinions is purely from a jealousy point of view, I mean come on seriously, why on earth would anyone want to carry heavier, clumsier, bulkier vacuums, that aren't even anywhere near the levels of suction, than Dyson's excellent own brand I have always owned Dyson's vacuums and now have their V8 model for the past 15 months. All I do is follow the simple maintenance guide... only vacuum house hold dust and rubble waste, empty the canister each time I've finished using it and wash the two filters once a month and that's it, it's so unbelievably simple, Doing this I have no bad smells, keep 100% suction and feel nothing but what feels like fresh clean air emitting from the Hepa filter, how can anyone say its difficult to maintain, oh sorry, I guess the next thing they'll be saying is "what do you mean I've got to pull the trigger and push the thing", there's some bell ends out there that will always be jealous of people having the best and those bell ends will also leave a negative comment on this. My V8 still has an absolutely brand knew feel, smell and suction to it and if I was given the chance to own a V11, I would jump at the opportunity and be well excited, because I trust Dyson's technology 100% and know that it is the absolute best out there. Hi@@nespressoman I had a refurbished Henry corded model arrive yesterday as I'm doing quite a bit of house refurbishment and respect to Dyson, they do say my V8 is only for general house cleaning, not plaster and brick dust, so felt it best to use the correct tool for the job. I still scooped up as much dust as possible and only used Henry for literally the dust left behind, including the stairs, and lifting it, balancing it whilst vacuuming was a struggling task for my heart failure. I've lifted my V8 out of its docking station this morning to vacuum the side and the floor and WOW, the weight is a feather, the suction is as knew, the sound is so quiet and the air coming out of the Hepa filter smells so fresh. So Henrys suction for building work is number one for that type of job, but my Dyson V8 will stay number 1 for my home vacuuming, as the positive reasons far out weigh the negative, even though I've used the V8 a few times, for plaster dust pick up and stripped it down and washed the cyclone and motor housing completely afterwards. I do admit that Dyson request that we don't vacuum plaster and feel that it's designed purely for the home cleaning tasks. After all, you might take a dumper truck through a water logged dirty building site, but a Rolls Royce car... you'd keep to the road wouldn't you.

Maybe one day, but it's clearly not supposed to be in the same league as the V11, and it's probably inferior to the V8. It is on paper, at least.

I personally think cordless vacuums are just a faze that will pass. I noticed that it was brought on, or at least influenced by the extreme restrictions within the EU vacuum regulations.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 5 лет назад
Maybe, but then how do you explain why so many manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon when Dyson's took off? Bagless wasn't a faze; Dyson showed how awesome they were and virtually everyone does it now. What about clear bins? Dyson did it, it was great, and now everyone does it. The reason why the competition are struggling with cordless is because highly advanced technology is needed to do it properly, and the competition are just so bad that they can't achieve it properly. Dyson has rocketed so far beyond them that it does look like they're sitting down doing nothing. Improvements to battery technology will likely accelerate (shortcut) some issues the competition are having, and maybe they'll develop new motors which can do the job, but Dyson are so far ahead now that it'll take some time. The EU regulations are a wonderful expose of bad technology, as I discussed in one video. To meet them, the weak manufacturers who got passable performance with brute force had to cut back and they became really bad performers, exposing their weak designs. Interestingly, updated regulations will be coming into effect in the future which properly account for battery pollution and the cordless form factor. So all these lousy double-battery polluting machines will be exposed there too.

Vacuum Facts I personally don’t think Dyson are ready to release their V10/11 as a mains replacement because from what I have seen on the specifications and from owning one. The V10/11 only gives you mains performance on high power, which won’t last much longer than 10 minutes? I think it needs to be better than that for a mains replacement, that said, mine rarely dies on me but I tend to use just the medium setting. I do agree that Dyson leads in its advancements and others copy to keep up with what consumers demand. That is the way for cordless anyway. I would recommend Dysons to someone asking for a cordless or bagless vacuum as in those areas they seem to do it best.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 5 лет назад
I think that's a misconception and there is evidence to show it. You actually get 'mains performance' (whatever that really means, given performance is so variable between cleaners) with the default mode. I showed against the mains Kirby that the V10 surface-cleaned to the same level and deep-cleaned better in mode 2. The V11 removes virtually all deeply engrained dirt in auto mode on the most difficult carpet type after a few passes. It likely exceeds many mains-cleaner performance. I hope to test this in future, actually. Max/boost mode is actually overkill which achieves a comparable level of result but faster. It's designed for spot-cleaning heavy messes and doesn't really give advantages for general cleaning when dirt concentrations are much lower. If I had the money and time, I'd look at more machines much sooner.

I will never buy another Dyson product again. I purchased a Dyson V8 Absolute and the battery died after about 2 years of once a week use in a 2 bedroom apartment. Thats real sad considering I took real good care of that vacuum allways cleaning it properly and making sure it was put back on the charger when I was done using it. The real problem was when I tried to purchase a new dyson battery for it only to find that its out of stock. Its been out of stock for over 19 months now and Dyson doesnt now when and if they will carry them again. So I spent over $500 for a vacuum that is completly dead after two years of use. I can see if they discontinued the V8 and they dont make them anymore but they still sell them. All Dyson was able to say was that maybe I should try there newer model because it has a much better battery than the V8. Do they really think I am going to fall for their scam again so that I can have another useless vacuum after it dies two years from now. I wont support a company that drops support for their older products especialy when they are still selling them. Before this Dyson I had a real old Electrolux canister vacuum from the 60's. It was corded and it still worked. Luckily, I still have it and Im going to put it back in service since Im not going to buy a new $500 Dyson every 2 years because Dyson wont sell you a replacement battery. Dont believe me? Just go to they're website and try to purchase a Dyson V8 replacement battery. It will say not in stock and to call their customer service representative who will then try to sell you they're newest vacuum. Its bad enough that they charge 4 times the price of other vacuums and then they pull this scam on their customers. It too bad because I really liked the V8. It was a real good vacuum till the battery died. Too bad Dyson got greedy and pulled this scam because I will never buy another product from them again. I will keep it in my storage closet for another year just in case they decide to sell that replacement battery again. If not, then I will just throw it away at the end of the year since it is completely dead with out a working battery. I thought about buying a battery from third party vendors but they only sell lithium batteries that are not the same as what dyson was using and I have heard mixed results on them. Im sorry Dyson but Im just keeping real. You should support your products better than this because your not going to have many customers with this kind of scam as your business model.

Im going to have my turn and poke the bear now.... you can't go blaming the likes of Sam and Roger for breaking their vacuums. For heavens sakes the thing costs £600, why on earth would they deliberately damage it? Dyson has a reputation for shoddy quality, look at the handle flex on the newer uprights, now you may say this is flexible strength or whatever but come on kid, its crap quality, SEBO manage to make handles last without hideous flex. RE the warranty comment, if Dyson were affected by someone calling up and getting honoured a free floor tool then they really are in the shit, if £50 or whatever it costs them will dent their profits then they need to seriously evaluate their profit margins. Let's face It that cleaner head hadn't reached the end of the production line before Dyson got their money back on it. I think you just need to realise Dyson isn't the be all and end all. I for example like SAAB cars but I by no means think they are the best thing in the world. I still appreciate people like BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc and I by no means bash them for preferring them and I openly accept there are issues with my car as with EVERYTHING that is on the market or ever has been on the market. If V11 was PERFECT Dyson would eventually fall apart and go bankrupt because they couldn't develop and evolve it further. seriously mate, step back and think about all this.

A few things inaccurate about your post which you may wish to correct. I haven't blamed specific people and people can otherwise assume what they want without evidence. I don't know why anyone would deliberately damage it; who said they had? I haven't. Where've you got that from? Or have you simply bought into mindless propaganda being spun by rabid troublemakers instead of properly fact-checking? That would be silly. Secondly I've seen videos and based on the comments and claims within them, have conjectured alternative and perfectly reasonable possible causes. No one really knows or likely ever will; I've said as much. People are misinterpreting reasoned conjecture with factual claims, which is rather embarrassing, then trying to perniciously spin a false smear. All the hallmarks of a rabid enthusiast community. And not a single comment about anything discussed in the associated video, either, which says it all. I presume you bothered to fact-check the things I said which make it clear you're making incorrect assumptions about your original post. I've stated that all products have failures and the pinned post discusses how to distinguish random from systematic-the latter being misleadingly assumed without evidence.

It's faulty logic to suggest if someone praises a product made by company X, that they work for that company. Secondly, you claimed dyson tech is so complicated that it fails more than others. That is a factual statement on which there is evidence bearing. Can you provide strong evidence to support your claim, or was it just a subjective opinion misleadingly dressed up as fact? The latter wouldn't be very respectable. If you owned an earlier hand model that only 'lasted 5 months', then a) what on earth were you doing with it, and b) why didn't you claim on the 2 year warranty? I don't even believe you, and that's a much better opinion than what I'd have to think if you did actually break it given how durable and reliable they actually are... Not a good image you've painted of yourself with a 3 sentence comment o_o

surprise, you think the V11 is fantastic. as you know from my remarks in on past reviews, i don't disagree. But the Shark cordless you showed isn't almost as expensive as the V11. With frequent discounts (rarely, if ever seen on dyson), it's more like half the price. I need a dyson V11 like I need a second head (already have a V8), but if i keep watching our channel, I may have one sooner rather than later. dumb luddites? surely you're baiting them. at least those that know what a luddite is.
@VacuumFacts
@VacuumFacts 5 лет назад
Ha. I think the V11 is fantastic because the evidence shows it to be; it's as simple as that. My subjective opinion is therefore informed on objective grounds. Not convinced it's reasonable to cite discounts, which are transient and not always available to all, as evidence of the lesser cost of one machine over another. The RRP is the only fair and comparable metric, and the RRP of the Shark shown is comparable to top Dyson models. I'm not baiting anyone; everything I said is true :)
