When she was asking her mom and dad questions I was crying along with mom. Her emotions seem so raw about the day she born still today. They seem like such wonderful parents and they have def raised a great daughter.

I wanted to say that I love this channel and the stories shared on disabilities because it is bring awareness. I have learnt so much from this channel and keep gaining more knowledge. I loved Mikaelas story and think she is beautiful ! I usually don't write comments but when she spoke about the girl who bullied her my blood BOILED! How dare this girl have the audacity to say these things?! To believe she has an authority to complain about the stupidest things! I wish I went to school with Mikaela because she is still a human being and had every right to have what she needs. Shame on those who signed that petition because they didn't want to open a door for her! If I was her classmate I would feel happy to because as she said ,she can't open the door as she is in a wheelchair. She needs a laptop because can't write very well and needs jewellery, her bracelet because it's for medical reasons! I am sorry for my rant but the reasons to start a petition is stupid but most of all disrespectful. Okay, rant over.

To be fair, I suspect that some of them signed the petition because they hoped to have school policy changed so that they'd be allowed to wear jewelry and use laptops themselves, rather than any personal animus toward Mikaela. Heck, some of them may have thought that was what the petition was for.

Mikaela, if you're reading this, I want you to know you can create your own opportunities. If no one has a part for you, write a part for yourself. No one would give Sylvester Stallone a chance, so he wrote the movie "Rocky" for himself. You can do it, too. Check out Robert McKee's book "Story" for tips on how to write! Good luck and all the best!

Good message and fully true. I am 6 years old and have diastrophic dysplasia, and despite this I take part in half marathons. All you need is an idea that goes beyond the standard and people who will want to implement it. It's nothing hard :)

I love Mikaela's determination and grit. It doesn't seem like she ever uses her height or her disability as an excuse for a negative attitude or a reason not to try. I do think it's super important for her health and mobility to manage her weight. It has nothing to do with looks, she's adorable just the way she is, but she already has a heart condition and being overweight is very hard on the heart. She has some mobility issues too because her limbs are shorter and having to carry around extra weight makes it even harder for her to move. I know that weight gain is also part of her condition but her whole family is overweight so there are definitely some unhealthy eating habits happening as well. She is an awesome girl and I hope that she thrives and has a long, healthy, happy life!!

The girl who did that petition at school, i hope she thinks about it a lot every week even years from now and that she has changed and grown up. Cause that was so petty and pathetic, to start a freaking petition and single a girl out for her disabilities. How mean!

She’s too cute for words. Extraordinary!!! She has very sweet friends! I am sometimes insecure about my height because people offend me with comments about how I am under 5’3 or 5’2. I feel the same way. It hurts my feelings somewhat. I feel famous people are tall & better looking than me! I like myself for who I am. No judgements

I have a niece who is a little person (Achondroplasia) who has a strong drive to be whatever she wants to be (she is aiming to be a lawyer right now, but also has other ideas). Little people are only limited by their physical abilities. Although I think Mikaela is very pretty, her voice is not overly pleasant to listen to (at least to me) so she may want to consider a different role in the entertainment field. I have the same problem, my voice is not pleasant, so I knew I couldn't work on radio, which would have been one of my first choices for career when I was young. Work with what you have, what you're good at and what best suits you.

Okay the girl from her year 8 is a brat! I hope someone from the school staff saw what was going on and pointed out the exact reasoning on why she had these obvious things. To be mad that someone holds the door for her?! Uhhh good Manners is yo hold to door for anyone know matter how abled or disabled someone is.

My understanding is that those with certain types of dwarfism have the same size stomach and appetite as people without dwarfism. With that being said, I imagine that it's extremely difficult to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight as a result. She seems to be a lovely girl with an amazing personality and outlook. And that's what makes her beautiful from the inside out.

Of course once they're born, people like this should be helped to have the best life possible, but; in the future it will be much more ethical and morally upright for all pregnancies to be genetically tested, so that fetuses with these conditions are never born. Just an immensely unnecessary level of human suffering.
