DZO continues to stun us with these lenses! The rate at which they've evolved their look is astonishing! It's time you guys did a factory tour!

They are very impressive, especially considering the price!

When I initially started watching this video assumed they'd be in the $3000+ range each, given the performance and maximum aperture. I'm shocked that they're $2150 USD each, incredible value for a proper cine lens.

I was amazed when I first saw the price.

This video is like being at a cinema themed spa. Soothed by the piano as we take a sip of our hot tea and get into some optic comparisons. Thanks for such a helpful video.

"A Cinema themed spa" could be the new channel motto 😂 Thanks for watching

The warm color shift actually helps rendering the skin tones nicer. I always found the blue cast distracting with the Vespids, glad they fixed it!

Looking forward to using these lenses! Did you happen to do any tests with both the arles and vespid around T2.1 or T2.8?
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 19 дней назад
I'm afraid not, the only tests we did are in this video.

The fingerprint on the 50mm is spot on

I think its acutally the softbox with a grid on, but not sure 100% :)
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 20 дней назад
😅 It's a reflection of the softbox & honeycomb grid. Although fingerprints on the lenses is common when we make lens videos as we have to handle the lenses and angle them for camera etc. so much... so it does happen!

How do you think these would compare in terms of character and image quality with the Cooke SP£ lenses?
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 19 дней назад
Not sure, we would have to put them side by side really. These are much larger though, with a much faster aperture at T1.4 vs T2.4. They are EF or PL rather than mirrorless mounts. They potentially have softer out of focus areas as well... but would have to test that.

Unrelated question: I’m interested in the Duvo 24-300mm vs Canon 25-250mm . Have you tried both lenses ? Any recommendations on how to choose between the two besides focal length ? Planning on using it for outdoor sports on Red V raptor and Red Komodo
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 21 день назад
Both great lenses. Are you in the UK? We could arrange to get them both side by side for you to try out?
@OliKember
@OliKember 21 день назад
These are a knockout, especially for the price. Was it just the bokeh of the 25mm that you felt suffered or was it sharpness etc? Surprised you didn’t compare the CA from Vespid to Arles which is one of the biggest improvements for me. This set with the ‘Retro’ flares would be the dream - I’m curious if they’ll go that way!
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 21 день назад
There was definitely less CA on the Arles.

Do you know if using a speedbooster (ef-rf or pl-rf) with these would have any issues? Would love to pick up a set of these and use them on my Komodo-X.

how much distortion does the Dzo arles have on their 25mm lens. thats what I really want to know. wish someone shot a picture of a graph with them
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 19 дней назад
We don't really do graphs and charts on this channel, we normally prefer to show real world examples for the most part. The shot at 1.22 gives a rough idea though, and that grey line looks pretty straight there, some barrel distortion but not too much.

Hi, Carl. How do you compare them to a tokina vista? Of course tokina is almost three times the price of these, but still. Thank you

It would be an interesting comparison to do actually! I really like the look from both

How do these compare to the Zeiss otus primes?
@carlyates2487
@carlyates2487 19 дней назад
We haven't done a side by side comparison of course. But the Zeiss Otus primes are very clean & neutral as well. I would expect them to be a bit cooler in colour rendition. They only have 4 focal lengths, wheras the Arles range will soon have 10. They also do not have gearing on them for follow focus control and they have no iris ring. So they are not really cinema lenses, they are very high quality, but they are manual photographic lenses.

Their Gnosis lenses were the best, goregus image out of those.

Agreed. The focus through did make them difficult to use for most work outside of macro projects though.
