The reconstruction of the Ełk railway station is an extensive modernization project aimed at enhancing the station's infrastructure, safety, and passenger comfort. Key aspects of the project include:
Platform Upgrades: New platforms are being built with modern amenities such as LED lighting, benches, anti-slip surfaces, and clear signage. Platform 3, which is 400 meters long and 76 cm high, is already complete.
Track Modernization: The project involves the laying of new tracks and the installation of new signaling and control systems. This includes the addition of two-level crossings to replace existing level crossings, enhancing the safety and efficiency of train operations.
New Structures: The construction includes new overpasses and underpasses to ensure safer crossings for both pedestrians and vehicles. The viaducts over Towarowa and Kolejowa streets are significant components of this effort, with work progressing steadily on these structures.
Local Control Center: A new local control center has been built, equipped with advanced technology to oversee railway traffic at the station, ensuring better management and safety.
The ongoing construction efforts are managed in phases to minimize disruptions to train services, ensuring that the station remains operational throughout the modernization process.
