I don't think simple, functional E-Bikes get enough attention and respect for lower-end, low price E-Bikes. Really if you never had those extra features it actually doesn't work. The entire point is to make pedaling easier with assist, and that it seems to do. This is better for intros and novice bikers and seniors. Thanks for the video.

I own a Lectric bike, but I don't consider Walmart or Amazon bikes cheap or tacky. That's being a little snobbish. I'm just glad to see people enjoying whatever kind they have.

I purchased the GOTRAX Emerge from Walmart for $598. The Emerge has a 350 watt motor and is rated at around 15 miles throttle only, 24 with pedal assist with a top speed of 20mph. I purchased a GPS bike computer and cell phone holder for another $50 off of Amazon and I'm all set. I love this bike and would recommend to anyone who is a casual rider and/or is just looking to have some fun on a budget.

@@mariemonk104 likely not, I own a 350w hub drive bike like this, I mean it does _go_ but it slows from the normal 32km/h to ~14km/h with just throttle on a 10% grade

Good to see an ebike that someone retired could actually afford. But some of the features you like, have another side. A tiny integrated battery may be single sourced while those ugly bolt on batteries are cheap and easily upgraded or replaced. I chose my bike for the least proprietary content. Except for the wildly excessive branding so common these days, I can replace anything from Amazon. With service being the elephant in the room, few reviews give it a passing thought. But, if the thing breaks, it's a lawn ornament if parts and service aren't available.

Maybe a budget model like this can replace a car long enough to save for a better model. Cars are creating poverty. E-bikes are a cure.

If I didn't already have a more expensive e-bike, I'd give this a try. I'm usually on fairly smooth bike trails and a 20 mile ride is usually enough for me.

I bought the Gotrax Endura. Its supposed to be a 250 watt motor but It says 350 watts on the box and on the hub motor. It's max speed is only 15 mpg. I think its the same motor as the more powerful version but has a speed limiter. It's a very nice bike but the 36v 7.5ah battery limits its power and range. It would be a great ebike if they upgraded the battery to 10.5 ah and had a digital display.

Hi Micah Toll, in Australia we are limited to 250 watt motors like this one which means we rarely see the great bikes you often review. Police are not as vigilant or as quick to write a ticket as you mentioned in your video of your two wheel drive beach capable ebike in Israel. But if they spot anyone keeping up with cars they pounce, it seems our nanny state will mean more low end ebikes into the for seeable future.

Other than the throttle it's almost identical to the hyper brand sold at Walmart. Frame and everything but the graphics are the same so they're probably made at the same place and just branded differently for different companies...not a bad bike for someone who takes the occasional ride around the neighborhood but if you're planning on riding 30 to 60km 5 times a week you probably want to look at something else

I would be cautious about buying this bike. My sister purchased one just recently. After a few weeks, the locking mechanism for the battery broke inside. After trying to convince the company to replace it, they sent us another one. Initially, I thought it was my sister's user error, so I made sure she was putting the battery in the proper way. 3 weeks later, the lock broke again. I am convinced the design and/or materials they used for the battery lock is flawed. Right now we are trying to return it and get our money back but they are being difficult about it.

Looks a lot like the hyper e-ride city. Sold in Walmart stores. They added a throttle and headlight, but I think everything else except the frame and saddle are the same. The hyper is $575

That is exactly right...it is a re-branding of the Hyper E-bike, GoTrax only added a throttle.

Micah, I am wondering how you think this bike compares to the Macwheel Cruiser 550 (which I think is now on Amazon as just the Cruiser 550). Aesthetically I prefer the Cruiser. They’re priced pretty much the same as well.

I think a fair question would be how long will this bike hold up until it starts to have maintenance issues, and would a more expensive e-bike offer more durability? As for pricing, I bought a used Specialized Sirrus comp Carbon for $400 that is my daily rider, of course it doesn't have an electric motor. I wonder what the used e-bike market looks like. It almost seems to me that you might need to be willing to do some maintenance to put one of these bikes into daily use.

The components they use are more or less standard components. This hub motors are simple built, but also simple to maintain, and there's not much on it which can fail. Even if it fails, a replacement motor including the rest of the wheel isn't that expensive. I guess the bike is a bike typically sold over internet - bike shops often don't like such bikes to service them, but for people with some technical skills is no real problem to service this bikes and motors at home. I use a comparable bike (another brand, sold in Europe), mine has now 20k km. I bought it used, a year old. I have a couple of bikes (all but one non electric), I service all at home.

I have the Hyper E- Mountain bike which shares many of the same components, and really, if you take care of it it should last you a long time I've had mines for a year and a side from a few minor maintenance issues it has served me well.

I have this model and brand . It's a good bike. Back tire is a pain to change though. I'm fairly happy with it. I ride 7.5 mile one way to work with maybe 30lbs of work equipment clothes and other things I need for a day at work. I can easily get to work and back on one charge.i just wish it was lighter

We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. ru-vid.comUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

It has gears. That is the main advantage over cheap one speed ebikes. Hills are a big reason people buy ebikes.

Good choice! You won't be disappointed I'm sure. I've had my radmission for 6 months now and I'm absolutely loving it. I haven't had any problems with it and I've done a bunch of upgrades. That's not saying I didn't love it the way it comes, I just enjoy upgrading and it's a perfect platform for that if you choose to

I have never owned one but I have been looking around for one. What I don't understand is why don't people get an extra battery to take along on longer rides. Are they too heavy or hard to change that keeps people from just stopping to install the spare battery when needed.

Batteries can be most expensive part of your eBike and they are heavy. There are bottle cage style secondary/backup batteries available from eBike manufactures. Yet controllers on many eBikes brands do not have connectors for backup batteries. Nor a place to mount them on your eBike for extra/backup battery storage. One of the reasons I considered a stealth eBike was because of rumors about locked battery thefts at the local grocery store. With that in mind I believed that a hidden/stealth battery style bicycle was a sensible purchase, rather than an external down tube mounted battery...

Ebike companies are getting wise as who buys their batteries: Older folks with some physical issues that make a step thru a must and I am glad some folks are smart enough to stop calling them "girl" bikes. There are still some boneheads on the net that stick to that old terminology.

Price is right for a retired person. I dislike step trough style as it always makes the bicycle heavier. A normal triangle frame is always stronger & much lighter. There are many people that need a ebike with a weight of 25 pounds to carry up and down stairs not adding an extra 10 pounds for step through frame, and spring front suspension. I am guessing anyone that you consider older could not carry this bicycle upstairs to their second story apartment...

@@jrnamida5470 You're not gonna find any ebikes that weigh 25 lbs. The lightest I've seen comes in at 35 lbs and that is very light for an ebike. small motor and battery combo

@@peterfernandezjr5914 Look up Ribble's 24 pound offering, it is expensive but light weight eBikes exist. For some Greg Lamont's 27 pound carbon fiber ebike is almost affordable. If I could afford the 24 pound Ribble eBike it is what I would be riding... 18 pound eBike is the lightest I have seen, impractical type of drive in my opinion, but lightweight is not 35 pounds for city dwellers that carry their eBike up and down stairs. Tenways belt drive eBike with the weight of 33 pounds, was reached by using a 7Ah battery like Ride1up Roadster V2 did to reach its 33 pounds. My KBO Stealth Hurricane is 32 pounds after I modded it, changing out alloy parts for vibration free carbon fiber, and front wheel. I had most of the parts for future build, but I did purchase the disc brake carbon wheel. I find the 250 watt motor, single speed eBike will let me average 12 mph without sweating like crazy on my 39 mile round trip commute. But I do wish I could find a carbon frame replacement to continue to make it lighter weight. I am also trying to personally lose more weight to increase the distance/range on this eBike of mine.

@@jrnamida5470 I stand corrected, they even have one at 18 lbs!!! I did not think it would be possible to build an e bike so light, even non electric road bikes weigh as much, if not more. Don't see how they can do it.

I have a go track emerge it's nothing fancy it's low budget e-bike it's nothing antsy works well I and I actually like it a lot better than the anchor we'll chat a little bit better features control-wise goes the handling my go tracks emerge shows a lot more power and handling
