Finally! I just wanted a simple, organized video that explained how to use an e-file, what speeds, etc. Even if some things could be based on common sense, it's so helpful to hear the essential do's and dont's from one complete, knowledgeable source. Thank you for continuing to make such helpful content. Hope you have a beautiful day!
a few months ago i was getting my nails done and the technician burned my nail. needless to say i wasn’t expecting it and i jumped back in my chair. it caused a scene but i never knew how bad it would hurt and i didn’t even know it was a thing😢 i have had too many bad experiences so i’m grateful to have found your channel so i can start doing my own nails ❤
Oh my word the burning on my nails. Every time I tell them they're burning my finger I get the, 'oh you keep moving that's why' 😒. The cuts on my finger and burning kept me away for years. Thank you for teaching.
I've been an Attorney for several years. Always loved doing nails, bought a few items gel polish uv lamp etc, really thinking about a career change now!
Suzie! I got my first set of acrylics a couple months ago and she used a toothy tungsten bit ON MY NATURAL NAIL! it didn't seem right but I had never gotten them before so I didn't say anything. My nail bed were so stripped I barely had anything underneath thy keep breaking and I'm in the process of growing them out. One I get my nails healthy again I'm gonna try and find an expert nail tech. It makes me sad cause the first nail tech was so nice but she did so much damage. Thank you for this video, you've confirmed my suspicions I will be more vocal at the nail salon now ❤
Yep iits good to know this information. And in all fairness to them, they may not be doing it deliberately they just might not know. Let’s hope they watch videos like mine and getting the information they need
What a pleasant video to watch. You are a consummate professional and it shows. Your voice is soothing and you teach effortlessly. Please help. I like wearing silk wraps and I would like to know if that’s considered a natural nail which requires a sanding band or can a carbide be carefully used? I know my rpm’s should remain low. Lastly, who is the manufacturer of your e file? Thank you so much for your time in advance.
The anchor point you’re talking about is also called a fulcrum point 🥰 I only know this bc I used to be a dental assistant and you need a fulcrum point all the time working on teeth🦷
I so wish I'd found this video last year when I tried using my e file on my natural nails......I used the band for artificial nails which destroyed my poor nails! I haven't touched my e file since then to let my nails get healthier before trying it again
You want to be careful because a bit with a bit of teeth to it can get to your natural nail pretty quick if you have some experience you’ll be OK with this. But if you don’t you’re best to start all filing experiences with Arbour Benz they are a very gentle sending band. Start with the find woke up to the medium and then course will definitely remove. I mean the fine and medium will it remove it eventually but it takes a lot more time. The course Arbor Will definitely remove gel polish
My E file does not have numbers to indicate rotation per minute on the speed dial but it seems to still be able to go as fast as the one you have in the video so how would I be able to know how fast I am setting my file to?
Mama Suzie I had a bad experience with a fill that left the skin around my cuticles blistered and painful and itchy.. what happened to me!?! Because of you my bad experiences in many salons I've started looking at schools!
SMH... after watching your videos I feel like everyone else that's on the internet doing nail tutorials is here just to entertain us, cause this is the first time I paused a video and got my stuff out to practice WITH you ... And you didn't even ask us to. You're a teacher, you're God's gift to the rest of us. And thank you to the production team✨ A+ work 🤝
I’m the beginnerey-est of beginners & it’s like you watched me do my first set on myself and addressed EVERY MISTAKE I made! Thank you so much! 😅✌🏻I do have a practice hand & I’m letting my natural nails grow out before I try again, because oof! I messed up! Natural nails are so thin now and I’m afraid if I tried to put on another set, I could damage them permanently. But I’m learning to do this so I won’t bite my natural nail anymore. I think it’s helpful!
Hey Suzie 👋 I watched your "fear the efile" video and that "anchor" has completely changed my e file game. I used to use a nail file to do whole service but I used a drill on a client for the first time 2 weeks ago. It's so much faster with an e file. Your videos really inspire me to be more confident. I really feel like I learn enough to actually change my routine on clients. Thank you so much 💓
Hi fellow Nail Princesses, please NEVER use high speed on the e-files! SUZIE you are our Queen! Love your videos. You explain everything so nicely. Thank you for great content.
@@paresseuxdesneiges i’m a little late but there are a few reasons! in russian manicures they usually file the builder gel or acrylic as thin as possible during fills, and e-files can be used for other forms of crafting too!
My mom ordered one for me for Christmas (I'm a DIYer)! I'm a little nervous to use it for the first time, but definitely going to remember all your pointers and will probably be referring back to your e file videos!
Hi Suzie! I hope you read my comment because I want to ask you if you can make a video teaching us what each e-file bit is used for.I have so many and don’t know how to use them properly….I need help please 😢
Hi! Wow I’m first!! Lol Love your videos, they’re so satisfying and calm. You’ve taught me so much about nails, I’m going to get my license to be a nail tech. You’ve inspired me so much. 💕💕
@@NailCareerEducation thank you! Yes it’s definitely a wonderful creative outlet. I love doing nails! I’m so happy you decided to make a RU-vid channel showing your tips and techniques. Still waiting for camera man to show us his editing techniques 😉😂
oh my GOSH, thank you for this video! This is exactly the kind of video i was looking for when i first started with e filing. That "cheat sheet" you put on the back of the e-files is KILLER too - perfectly concise and has all of the main points. Thank you for being my favorite online nail teacher 🥰
Perfect video and explanations! I will use my worn out sanding bands on my heels at a low speed and it makes them super smooth. Honestly!! And it feels good, too. DISCLAIMER: I only use the e file on myself, no one else 😂
Susie I started watching you about five years ago I am now 69 years old you are the one that gave me the inspiration to start doing my own nails as a hobby and also because I enjoy it I have learned so much over the years from watching you and other nail techs I have gotten really good with my e-file I no longer burn my nail beds and make sure I put it on a really low setting when I’m doing my cuticles and so far I’ve not had any problems in the last year it’s taken me four years to get it right but thank you for your inspiration your soft voice and to be able to actually see the person that’s doing the video instead of just a table and nails
I was looking for tips to dremel paint off fragile plastic and my aunt suggested "get what the ladies who do nails use" and this was actually helpful, I think I'll order some nail bits :D
You are honestly the greatest resource ever, I’ve learned so many things from your videos. Thank you, and I hope you do more videos in e-files, it just feels like there’s so much to cover!
Suzie… Love your videos I have learned so much. I agree with your position on training requirement basic courses - here in FL, USA I spent 1000.00 to,learn how to glue tips and spread acrylic.. and they didn’t care “how well” a student did .. everyone got their certificate. I’m almost ready to start taking new clients as well as some from my school who want me to continue. Honestly I’m 52 years old and never cared about my nails-my granddaughter wanted something different last Halloween & I was hooked. I’ve taken some really great zoom classes with different manufacturer’s like YN and look forward to seeing some online classes on your website. I’m also patiently (trying) waiting for your gel trial kit so I can order both your acrylic and gel trial kits. Everytime I visit your site I just want to gran the acrylic one but after purchasing “enough nail crap to open a salon” as my husband so eloquently put it .. I’m pacing myself. Thank you again and I can’t wait for both trial kits🤩
Suzy, help. I have a video idea. When I go to the salon there is a menu of services I don't understand what they are. Can you do a dictionary definition of what a common salon menu offers. Thanks, your awesome. I just found you and have been binge watching.
The anchor tip/holding the hand your working on from the top instead of the bottom is a great tip!!! Thank you, still learning! I try to anchor my pinkie but I always hold the finger from the bottom
Question- whenever I try to use a low speed on my efile the bit catches and stops. Am I putting too much pressure down? I feel like I can only file my acrylic on a higher speed- like 7 or 8. Am I doing it right?
So glad I found this video! I'm a DIYer but bought myself a nice fancy e-file and realized I didn't have the first clue about how all these tips and features worked. I feel so much more confident using the e-file now, and I can already see the improvement in my control and efficiency. Thanks so much for your very informative videos!
I been getting my nails done for the last 20 years and I decided to say f-it I’m going to do it myself!! I’m sick and tired of salons not having colors or can’t do certain styles and paying $100+ for each set. Bought all the stuff to do gel-x, including an e-file… let’s just say my hands feel like raw meat 🥹 Here for all the help on learning my e-file! I’m going to master doing nails if it’s the last thing I do!!
I wish i found you sooner! Ive been practicing using my efile of fake fingers and i thought i was confident enough to use it on my. Boy was i wrong...Just experienced a nail massacre...pitted, brittle the whole enchilada! UGLY!! I did tons of research yet not enough since i only just found you. The way you teach is so easy to understand! Preparing for a long nail recovery... hopefully im not too traumatized by the experience to do it again in the future😢😢 More fake fingers going in the cart
I haven't been hurt with the e-file luckily, but dit get a burning wound on my skin next to the nail with a handfile. It was quite small, but still quite painful.
Suzie, you’re so relatable. I bought a starter kit for gel nails and learned so much from you’re channel! It took me two afternoons to apply my first set on myself and I definitely should’ve practiced first… I hurt my fingers a little bit but I’m confident it will be easier over time :) thank you so much for all this information. It’s like chatting with a friend in every video. And still learning something
Thank you so much for this really fantastic and straightforward tutorial on e-files Suzie! I've learned so much that I can now work with and remember easily. Your voice is so relaxing and easy to follow 😄 I adore the aquamarine accents you have going in the video, including the lights and hoodie, not glaring but soft and pleasing to the eye. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 😄💙
Watching this BEFORE I buy my own e-file. This channel is a new favorite. As a newbie to the nail game this channel has proved to be extremely valuable to me.
I’m glad you found me. Yes you are right, with my channel you can learn to be other than your average tech because I’m giving away pro tips of taking me 35 years to learn and become one the best
Thanks for the information.. Is really helpful! I’m a nail technique for almost 10 years but I never use a E-file cause almost all my clients have no good experience with it . So this will help me to give them a good experience ! Thank you so much ! Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
I just wanted to share my experience with an efile as a novice. 2 months ago, I bought a pretty good MelodySusie model and a nice set of bits, and everything needed to do gel nails at home for myself and my daughters. I watched tons of yt videos to learn what not to do with the efile. I thought I did ok, until I removed the nails. My nail beds were thin and red, and super sore. So I started using a clear hardener and nail creams to strengthen my nails, as well as wearing gloves to do any cleaning and dishes. Fast forward this past week, 7 of my nails are now lifting down to the ridge where I originally filed. It's awful. So please be careful, it is SO easy to go too deep with an efile. I never went over 6000rpm and still did this much damage.
My husband just surprised me with a brand new drill. These are very helpful suggestions for learning how to use this new tool! I’m super excited to get started. I started doing my own nails at home because the nail techs always burned me with their drill. Almost felt like I was going to the dentist!! Thank you again, Susie, for your expert teaching; you’re so good at explaining!
I absolutely love your videos! I am not a licensed nail tech but I do my own nails now. Thank you for making such detailed and easy to follow videos. 🥰
So simple! Thank you! The first time I used it I filed too deep and reached the soft stuff under my nail - I made a literal hole! Lol so not comfortable.
I'm honestly so excited to see all of the wonderful things you've been coming out with! I started Christmas shopping for my family (I knew I wanted your manicure kit for my mom because, well, she needs to learn to do it properly! I'm glad one of our dogs ate her battery powered "nail file" because that means she'll have to listen to me now 😂) and eyed the e-file for myself. I'm not sure if it'll be a birthday or Christmas gift to myself, but I think it would be much better than the one I have now.
Thank you, Suzie!! Question for the group. I do my own gel polish over natural nails (just use a protein prep and base coat underneath). From this video, does that mean the only appropriate bit I should use to remove gel polish from the natural nail is a fine to medium arbor band at 3-5k RPM? Thank you!!
Ah, my goodness I needed this video! I do have a question though, does the material of the toothy bits make a difference? I've seen so many different kinds and its a bit overwhelming
I love you! I have watched a few Learning videos cause I’m doing my own nails but I just keep coming back to you because you’re a wealth of knowledge and soothing your voice is soothing and your mannerisms are almost comforting. Thank you for sharing what you’ve learned
QUESTION: could you show us how to e-file the dominant hand? I do my nails at home for multiple years and still try to find tips and tricks on how to efile my right hand easier
The only time I had an e-file used on my acrylic nails was when my regular nail person went on vacation and referred me to her sister. It was the one and only time. I much preferred having them done by regular file. While her sister did a nice job, I was just always leery of having an e-file used on my nails.
Always use the highest speed to remove acryl, hard gel or gel tips, otherwise you either file off material uneven or ruin your drill bit. Low speed also takes you forever to remove extensions. Very strange to hear these advices from such experienced nail technician.
Got this video recommended and seemed interesting, now that I've watched this I realize 3 of the nail techs I've been to don't know how to use the e-file properly :( This explains why I felt burning and pain when they worked on me. They all used toothy metal or ceramic bits o take of my gel polish from my natural nails, instead of soaking it off. With one I felt burning, the second I felt pain and burning and got cut on the cuticle, and the last really damaged and overfield my nails :(
Suzie, I love when you do videos like this, so informative. I do have a question though. Over the course of time, have you been called upon to correct a fellow technicians mistakes a lot? i.e, from another salon? x
Oh YES! I built my career on it - Honestly if the customer has come to you they’re not happy with the previous tech this is a chance to show that customer how much better you are. Take that opportunity and show them literally you can just take one finger and show them how much better you are and they can compare back to back and they’ll never go anywhere else
@@NailCareerEducation I didn’t have that chance often because almost every client I started with just came with me when I moved. But those chances to do that one nail correction for someone was such a pleasure to do! Not in a bragging way. But in a way to show them how beautiful acrylics really can be! Especially back then there was a lot of nay sayers on acrylic being bad for you( in the 90’s)
I liked this video 1 year ago and this Saturday 18th I will do my master course for a beginner but I want a Learn more from you also since I follow you my practice was nice but I need to learn more and get my certificate ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽🤲🏽
