This time I decided to do a more complete video with unboxing, assembly, TX-setup, flight and some final thoughts on the new E-Flite RV-7.
I fly mine either with a 3s or 4s 2200mAh battery using a Spektrum NX10.
Technical data
Wing-span (mm): 1100
Empty weight approx. (g): 1421
Length (mm): 902
Battery: 3 - 4S / 11.1 - 14.8V / 2200 - 3200mAh

Thank you an informative video. Appreciate the effort. Ordered mine today. Had a “full scale” VAN’s RV-6 with two great partners for many years. It was a beautiful yellow w a custom composite 3-blade propeller and really scooted along. I enjoyed many hours of acrobatic and formation flying and taught both my sons how to land in case they needed to take over. Landings were not the easiest due to the stiff main legs, but over time I was able to perfect my “paint roller” wheel landings. We sold it about five years ago to the first person to see it, and “upgraded” to a very nice Beechcraft V35 Bonanza. But I still yearn for my old RV-6. One of the first VANs RV6 kits that was finished. As you probably are aware, the RV-7 is essentially an upgraded version of the most popular RV-6 design, with all of the original “shortcomings” addressed. My plan is to assemble and maiden my E-Flite RV-7 w a 4S 2200 pack ( about six of them) and then after it’s all sorted out to disassemble and paint exactly how my RV-6 looked. I am glad the E-Flite version even has a three blade prop so I can customize that to match as well. Thank you again for a fine review.

Thanks also for this video. Got this plane a few days ago and just bound it to my new DX6e transmitter. First time for me with this new transmitter. Your video helped. I do not have forward programming so I had to set up the old way. First flight will be in April. Lots of firsts here for me. First new transmitter, first low wing plane, first plane with flaps, first plane with LED lights, first plane with reverse thrust and finally, my first plane with a pilot. Lol

It's a beautiful scale plane , Nice job on the video and thank you . . Very thorough to include the radio and Avian ESC set up . The SAFE select directly off the transmitter is nice . I had a few planes go in SAFE automatically without the bind plug set up , so now this helps explain it . I'm still new at all this , so easy radio set up and plane assembly are important to keep the focus on fun and flying . I just got one of these myself , I want a little more airtime on other models before I'm confident enough to fly it , but I plan on doing the unboxing later on tonight .

You should not hookup the elevator linkage until you bind the plane and center the trims

You are right and I usually do that but as I divided built from TX setup I judged it to be better shown a full assembly rather than going back and forth between built and TX setup.

tossing up between this and the 1.2m P51. I only have the area of a soccer ground that is built up around it. so need something that has a wide flight envelope and can take off and land in the fore mentioned area. was also looking at the Maul but I already have a umx turbo timber.

RV-7 is the one I would pick over the P-51D. But if you really want to have something that works great on a soccer field I might suggest the FMS Ranger 1220 or E-Flite Valiant.

Thanks for putting out these great videos, I really enjoy watching them and listening to your opinions. I'm looking for my first low wing plane, I have a UMX turbo timber and Apprentice 1.2m that I fly right now. I was really considering the RV-7 or the T-28 1.1m and I was wondering if you prefer one over the other?
@SunriseRCAviator

Thanks for commenting Mark! RV-7 and T-28 are both great flying planes but I think the RV-7 is a little bit easier to handle and features things like flaps and LED lights so that would be the better one.

Hi There Lapeos, Great video on setting up the RV-1, I haven't got mine yet so your set up will really help. One question, I haven't got much room to store the plane so I was thinking of putting two brackets on the wall and hanging it up that way, would this be OK or damage the wings?

On my RV-7 the clevis was (after binding) far away from the servo horn and I needed to twist it 8 half turns towards the servo horn to get it to fit and the elevator to be straight... does the clevis still have enough hold onto the servo horn like that? (I hope so...)
@SunriseRCAviator
@SunriseRCAviator 2 года назад
You have to check by unscrewing the clevis all the way and see how many turns of grip you have to get the elevator aligned. But 8 half turns should be okay in my experience.

I set my flap to 2 sec also - but it only takes 2 seconds on the way back up ... on the way down it has no delay - it jumps right to 1/2 or full flaps... never had a plane do that....any ideas on how to fix that ? the documentation says it supports fly by telemetry - what is that and how do I set it up ?
@SunriseRCAviator
@SunriseRCAviator 2 года назад
Check if it says linked on the flap page. Telemetry is data sent back to a compatible transmitter like the NX10. This data is often battery voltage, load and temperature on the ESC. A great feature to monitor values during flight.

@@SunriseRCAviator yes, I have NX8 with Telemetry option - and just found out this morning that I needed to do an AUTO CONFIG option to set things up - now how do I get my battery voltage to display on the screen while I am flying or better yet how to I set a switch and get a voice to tell me the battery temp while I am flying so I don't have to take my eyes off the plane ?
@SunriseRCAviator
@SunriseRCAviator 2 года назад
@@lw216316 Usually when you bind telemetry is autoconfigured but sometimes you have to do manually so good you got it solved. Under telemetry you have several different things to monitor and the most important are the SMART ESC and SMART battery tabs. Go into each to set different alarms which can be either tones, vibes or voice. Then by scrolling on the right wheel of the LCD screen you can access these pages where telemetry is displayed.
