I just found this and thanks much for the information. It is very useful and saves much time trying to figure things out. I can go back and fix this functions on other planes with this type receiver.
Thank you !! Thank you , very much !! I have the same Tx & love it. This was the clearest simplest straight forward demo without all the BS talking I've ever watched 👍🏻
Just wonderful info.... I will be thinking about getting this jet once the problems are sorted out with it. I have a Maule,Timber,Cherokee,Apprentice, C150 Z & gliders all on safe as I love flying scale here in Australia. I live near the beach so thats my spot for flying .
@Kris...this video is now a few years old, but I just picked up a DX8G2.....I also picked a few HH models with SAFE / AS3X , but no flaps .....do I still follow your set up instructions, but just select a different wing type and follow your video for all else....?.....
Gary, you can use the manual to set that up. Usually within the first couple pages you will see a "computerized transmitter setup" I look up the "wing type" and build my plane off of that, and then add everything else. I have over 20 Horizon planes and I've never downloaded a setup file, always had good luck on my own. Anything else I can help you with let me know.
What I mean by that is bind the plane not in safe and then manually set the control horns to a neutral setting. If you bind it in safe it will not give you an accurate neutral setting if that makes sense.
G'day mate, Just back from the States with my new Viper & awaiting at home today, was the ordered DX9 black. So many thanks to your video's, I am all set to fly as tonight I set the aircraft up & checked your video & I am good to go. I transferred all my models from the DX6 to 9 which loaded but none work even after binding a couple to test....but at least I have the DX9 with all the channels for the Viper. Many thanks again
WholeNineYards I was able to transfer all my programs from a DX6e to a DX8e using a blank SD card, but you still must re-bind every plane on the new transmitter
Shaun, safe is receiver specific so you’d have to put a safe capable receiver in it and at that point you’re better off buying a bnf since they are usually only ~$30 more expensive than the pnp.
I was never able to get a plane with gear and flaps to have an independent safe. For this reason I always recommend at least a dx8. I think the new NX6 has the ability to do so but I haven't had the chance to play with it
Thanks for the video I also have to same remote as you but I’m trying this on a Trojan t28 that u programmed safe on and it not working for me I tried the same channel and steps u did
WholeNineYards yea but I was hoping that the file I uploaded from horizon hobby I could do it do u know a work around or would I have to learn enough and reflash old firmware
@@cesar68033 I've never messed with it but I do have that plane so I'll see if I can come up with a solution this weekend for it. I know some are locked and don't have the ability for safe mode.
That's awesome to hear. What transmitter are you using? Let me know if I can help you in any other way. Plane is real easy to fly, just watch your roll rate and keep the plane close until you can establish what it looks like in the air.
@@slugosrc1256 I've been having problems with mine on grass. I've been looking into doing a landing gear upgrade. If I find anything worth while I'll let you know.
The models (Timber,Cherokee etc) loaded & transferred on the SD card from the DX6 to the DX9 but I tried two models but nothing works ( even tried binding them to the DX9) I did read somewhere that you need to update the DX6 system
Never transferred models so I can't help you there. Did you just try to set up a new model and see if you could bind to them that way? Would suck for a couple of flights until you get them trimmed back out but you should be able to see your previous trim levels on your old transmitter.
I have subscribed so keep the great video's going...The viper is not available here yet & once I get over the nerves of thinking about flying a jet, i will pull the plug. I imagine it is easier to fly than the other new jet released (also with safe) A very happy & safe 2019 to you & your family from us here in Australia
Sorry for the late reply. I've seen some people say that the twitch will go away once there is air flowing over the surface but I've always just changed them out when I was having those issues. What servo is it?
That happened to my. The servo was bad. I purchased a replacement on Amazon. After that My problem was solved. Normally it happen to me every time I crash my planes the servos failed
Thanks to you I was able to set my switch for off and on on my F-16 Falcon64mm as well on my f-15 eagle 64mm now if I want to deactivate my safe on fly I can do it. And do more tricks like roll over loops. You are the only one how has that video. I fowered to my son . He was able to set his too. I appreciate.
Cheers for the video! I too am very new to this, I've got a carbon cub and this, I seem to be becoming an eflite fanboy too. I had that weird connection issue too with the safe mode, I'm just hoping it cuts in when I get it all kinds of wrong. Doesn't fill ya with confidence to start with imo.
@@wholenineyards7663 just when I went to put the rx to accept safe mode, the first few attempts it would twitch as though it recognised the button I wanted to use, but then when I went to bench test it for safe mode it was just staying in ASX3 mode. Its sorted now but it took a few attempts. Sadly in the uk we're not gifted with good weather, it's been windy and raining since I bought it 🤬🤷♂️
@@SiR2Dean Try assigning that switch to AUX2 channel like I did in the video. It's worked flawless for me since I've done it. Have the same setup done on my Carbon Cub SS
@@wholenineyards7663 that is exactly how I've done it. Like you I had the same issue with it not connecting first time. It got there in the end, same as you did. Finally got a nice day today so I'm off out with my cub for a bit :)
This is also mine 👍🏻 subbing you on my RC channel. I don't have any content yet & still a greenhorn only about a year & 1/2 in . I have like 7-8 EDF's couple of them are airliners and some propers .. 22T, Grand Tundra , slow poke. Just really like how ya demonstrate the info. Thanks again , Mike
WholeNineYards Defiantly keep'em coming !! I just watched the rest of your vids ! When I get the edf jets down the 16 is one on the list ! Safe Landings
@@celaleddinozer144 I'm not sure what brake controller you have but if you can plug that into the #6 port and then assign a switch to it via the channel assign menu it should work just fine.
@@wholenineyards7663 I think it is just fine as is unless you have other good nuggets you want to add. This is a very good video and thank you for taking the time to make it. Be safe and well during these trying times. We will survive. After some 33+ years in the military and in medicine, I have seen just about as much as one person wants to see. We will make it through this one as well. Blessings.
Just came across your vid. great job. I have a dx6e as as spare but cannot get a switch to assign safe to take no matter what I try. I know the safe works on the plane; when I turn off the radio it kicks on but when I try to assign a switch...nothing...any ideas?
So when you power your transmitter off and the surfaces deflect that's a parameter inside the receiver as a safety fault in case you lose signal. As far as getting it to assign to a switch I've never really messed with a 6, but I would make sure you have full range from -100% to 100% when the switch is moved. You are binding the plane in safe correct? Does it always stay in safe mode?
i am binding it in safe mode. I took out my Dx8 which the airplane was already bound with prior to trying this Dx6e, and it rebound and accepted my channel assignment to a new switch no problem. The 100% range is a good idea though, I never checked to see if that was the case. I will go over the settings and re-try tomorrow. Thanks for the help.It always helps to get someone else’s perspective when you get frustrated. Thanks again, happy flying.
I do know that if you run dual rates you have to assign safe to a switch prior to doing dual rates. I never run a dual rate switch so I've never had to worry about it but I would look at your status screen and make sure you have that full range and report back. I'd really like to resolve that issue for you.
i do run dual rate but i didn’t consider the sequence of assigning safe switch before setting up dual rate switch. I will give it another try Sunday when i get back from work. thanks have a great weekend.
I finally got her figured out. The rates were indeed at zero however, they seem to be at 100 until I bind the receiver then for whatever reason they drop to zero when I assign the switch? Got it working now and leaving it alone 😬 Thanks you for the great input, I would have been fighting that thing till doomsday without your help. Thanks again.
