e-Golf Radio Won't Turn Off

34 seconds after powering off the e-Golf the radio turns on!
Recently the radio would just turn on all by itself and despite all attempts to turn it off, 34 seconds later it would turn on. Not wanting to drain the battery before my service appointment I decided to pull the fuse that powered radio. Join us on the journey and see what we learned about this strange problem.

Might be a bit late for the party, did you try to reset the radio by holding the power button for roughly 30 seconds? I had some gremlins on the radio in my 2017 Tiguan clear up after a soft reboot that way. I will keep the fuse tip in the back of my head if I experience similar issues again and need to hard reset the radio.

Thank you for mentioning the soft reboot, I tried that numerous times with no improvement. Thus performing a hard reboot was the way to resolve the issue for me. There might be a way to do it via code but I don't have the proper equipment. Thank you for getting to the party and sharing.

So how is it going until now? Did the symptoms came back. I'm going to to try this tomorrow

Good question, it never happened again. Remember VW doesn't label the fuse box and they may change the location of the fuse assignment. The good thing is you'll know when you pull the correct fuse. Thanks for watching and let us know how it goes.

So literally you just took off the fuse and put it back? Didnt buy a new one?

Yes I just removed the fuse and placed the very same fuse back in. I was hoping to do a hard reboot of the radio which this achieved. The exact fuse may vary as VW doesn't tell you what each fuse is for and they tend to change them. Thank you for the view.

Yep ignition switch have same thing on my golf just started happening only a basic 2005 1.4 petrol golf but the radio is possessed turns on after all is locked and shut down

Would be interesting in hearing if this solution works for you. Radio fuse might be in a different position from my e-Golf.

@@cfldriven yes worked but I left the fuse in the outer fuse box in the engine bay whilst changing out the ignition switch MISTAKE.. nothing bad happened but the fault remained even after it all looked good.even tested on it for about 10 /15 mins all was looking fine no weird turning on .I came out hours later radio on again.So for pig iron I removed the fuse again allowed half hour to pass and slotted it back in hey presto it hasn't come on since.Hope this might help you too.
