Just a few days ago I was graced with finding a bottle of this at a little over 60 bucks. Never thought I’d pick up. First allocated bottle and found it just in time for my wedding this Easter weekend!
@ozarkmountainwanderer3472 I do the same, and it's worth. A good bottle is a good bottle. If you enjoy it, and you can afford it, BUY IT. WHO CARES!? The people who hate on others for paying secondary market prices are just losers who are mad they can't afford the sh*t they really want. There's no other reason to hate on others and what they enjoy. Keep doin you brother, and enjoy that beautiful bottle!
I think maybe I need to try it again. had a taste heads up with Eagle Rare, and I didn't care for the EHT at all then. tasted sour to me. Might give it another go if I see a bottle for MSRP or there abouts. FWIW, Eagle Rare is my favorite as far as something in a price range I'm going to buy, and Buffalo Trace is my go-to bottle when available.
There are a few stashed at the local liquor store for $70. I picked one up and am not disappointed at that point. I dont know that i'd pay much more than that though.
I would buy every bottle they had for $70. My state runs liquor stores so the bottles I have, I have been fortunate to get at MSRP but anytime I'm traveling and see it for that I'm a buyer.
My cousins got me a bottle of EH for a wedding (I’m getting married this weekend) and I absolutely love it. What a great gift and one I will savor over time.
To liquor stores I found this at at $180 each they got the middle finger along with me putting everything back on the shelf and telling them I'm going to the Box Store I'm not dealing with the gouging there's too much very good bourbon out there
Holy shit. I thought it was bad when the stores out my way were trying to sell it for $120. I would have given them double middle fingers at that price.
All depends where you live and how many there are. I just picked 1 up for 100 bucks normally 185.99.. your right there's alot out there to drink just how bad u want it and what u want to spend 🥃
I found a bottle by accident for $60, I just happened to walk into a store with a very nice proprietor. I had never been there before and was about to grab a KC store pick, when I hear, "What are you looking for?". I said, "Something I don't have", and he proceeded to pull out EH Taylor SB, MM BRT-01, EC18 and a few others. For a lot of you, this isn't a big deal. In my town, it is unheard-of to find 1 of those bottles, let alone all of them in 1 shop. I passed on the EC18, but grabbed the Taylor and BRT-01 @ $60 each.
First bottle I found was at msrp a few years ago and loved it. Last one I got during Covid for $60 and I haven’t seen one since. Can’t bring myself to open it yet.
Awesome video as always! In the future videos can you include the part where the "past you" reveals the whisky? It was always fun watching you surprised as you read the white paper. Thanks.
I'll be sure to include it. I had to cut it out of this one because he revealed the score and talked about his guess all at the same time. We did some restructuring on this one after everything was shot and I had to lose it so everything still made sense. Appreciate you letting is know that!. - Editor Alex
Got mine at total win today for $46 not including tax Think it’s good would buy another bottle just to have but I think I prefer four roses small batch select as my go to around that price for right now. Just my opinion tho also a newbie.
I had this in a restaurant one day and immediately fell in love with it. In the Past month I have been able to score three bottles of this, through a drop in Ohio and 2 online in PA. I know I'm lucky. This has become my favorite daily drinker, its kind of addicting. I also managed to score a Single barrel from OHIO and all I can say is WOW, that has become a Friday Night Special Occasion type drink. I let a few buddies of mine have some, and we were all blown away by it.
@@Jerry-ut2em North East Ohio Giant Eagles on Saturdays, just picked up another small batch and the EHT Rye both in one. I like the Saturday releases as it means lines are less so if you get there early you have a chance at getting two different allocated bottles
I just picked up my bottle at $75 but I got it in a gift pack with a bottle of bulleit pre mix old fashioned and a bottle of chardonnay so I feel like I did pretty good
My local store here in NorCal has several bottles of E.H. T SB., Buffalo Trace, various Wellers and Stagg. I bought a BT atc$25 & the EHT SB for $75. Haven't cracked the Taylor yet. Waiting for a special occasion
I grab at least 3 of those a week....at msrp.... absolutely my favorite, but again I live in a controlled state.... relationships with your liquor store are important. Might i suggest bringing in something fancy to share with them, (if allowed) and they'll usually be happy to see you and offer things without inquiry.... happy hunting peeps
Just walked in my liquor store. They had two. Wasn’t busy so went to the other side to look for a makers mark cellar. Nope. Went back to get the EH and one left. Got it for 59 bucks. Hardly see these so that was a good buy. Should have got both to the side then went looking. lol
I'd love to see a review of the Stagg 22B release if you have some! It's my personal favorite Buffalo Trace product I've tried to date, though I haven't tried too many.
Thanks for this review! I will be trying it for the first time on Oct 14th and I am extremely excited. I have 3 bottles waiting to be opened in my living room. I am fortunate that where I live these get shipped in pretty regularly and I can pick them up for $45 a bottle. But as balance would have it, other bottles in my area that you may find easily are scarce in my neck of the woods.
if you do not use the actual msrp price it kind of changes the score. best bottle of bourbon i tasted not counting pappy before it was popular. it is hard to get because everyone wants it.
E.H. Taylor Jr. Small Batch, Single Barrel, Weller Antique 107 or Weller Full Proof and why? Need a good Xmas gift and just can’t decide. Please help 😫😫
I just picked up a bottle at $128 with tax. Guess how much the Weller Antique 107 was going for? $220 jesus! No way I am paying that. EVERYTHING is more expensive in the big cities. Meanwhile you find Blantons at $99, Eagle Rare at $50 wth?
Everything is worth "the hunt". Hunting is what makes this a fun hobby. Is it worth the secondary market price is the question I'd ask. And the answer is no...depending on price. $50-60 MSRP...make you own decision. I wouldn't go over $75 probably. Maybe $80.
Friend just gifted me this after he was getting rid of his collection and moving on to a different hobby. Considering Four roses single barrel is my favorite, I’m excited to open this sometime. Around my area this bottle goes for north of $150, and as high as $220 so I hadn’t been able to justify it.
I need help to understand something. If this is using the same mash bill as Buffalo Trace, what makes it so different then. I know that the EH Taylor barrels are stored in a separate part of the warehouse but is that it? Do they distill it differently than Buffalo Trace? Are different barrels used. I suspect the only differences are: - Stored in a different part of warehouse - Barreled in Bond, (Aged at least 4 years, 100 proof, etc.) Are there any other differences ? I know little subtleties can impart different flavorings between whiskey.
Im curious for a Jack Daniels 12 Year review. I finally found a JD12 for $110 and im watching this review bc i snagged an EHT SiB and Small Batch but havent opened either yet. Got both for $140 total which isnt bad. But the JD12 i picked iver the JD10 and i feel its really good but got hyped up just like every unicorn does.
It's decent. It's not special. The $45 MSRP is a tad much. $40 seems closer to correct. If an objective approach is taken and all the tater BS is set aside, it's just decent.
I don’t know if it was just my batch. But I thought EH was one of the best bourbons I ever had. Not that I have had nearly as many as you. But I paid fourty for mine. So maybe that made it taste better haha.
Even though Taylor got the Bottled in Bond act started, he went a step further an put his autograph on his label. It was a mistameanor to alter the contents of a bottle. But with his name on the label it becomes a felony, which comes with jail time.
Just wondering if you have reviewed Old Hamer cask strength? or any their products. They're out of Indiana. Ive never found EHT and wondering the complexity compared to others
Just bought a bottle of this for 50 bucks!!! My local store has a rewards program with a ton of other great bottles at MSRP. Needless to say I got some drinking to do.
I work for a delivery company who picks up a lot of sazerac and this gets allocated very seldom and with working at said company I know who gets what and when so I grab them almost every time
Honestly I was blessed by texting my boss and asking if I could buy one of the 2 bottles we had. But I looked in the computer and it was the only 2 bottles we have received in 3 YEARS! Wild how hard it actually is to get some places but happy to say I own one now. Waiting to find a person who enjoys bourbon like I do to crack it with me! But I will probably end up cracking it myself very soon.
I absolutely love this bottle, but it seems I get different notes than most from it. I get heavy green apple with some spice. Tastes like I’m biting into a green apple
Many people hate on all things BT/Sazerac because of the hype/price gouging. Some of the best for MSRP and the hunt for bourbon drinkers is to find the bottles as close to MSRP as possible.
really enjoying your videos! been going down the rabbit hole tonight and really enjoy your audio! ive been making videos also and trying to sound better recently. what mic do you use specifically if you dont mind me asking?
Was at a bourbon rewards day today. Passed on the EH T to grab a Stagg. Will eventually come across one. Didn't have enough points to grab both. It was selling for $47 bucks.
I found one at 43 bucks today, I've never had any bourbon, and I was obviously not looking for it, I had a nice conversation about scotch with the store clerk, and he told me I had to buy it. Pleasantly surprised.
As a newbie, I had to get this one. Found one tucked away at a local liquor store at $90.00. It’s one of my favorites out of the 25 bottles I have collected. Maybe it’s the cool container it came that influenced me😂😂😂
Many people overpay on the first purchase. Don't beat yourself up about, learn from it. Fear Of Missing Out(FOMO) has a price to pay, it is up to you to decide if you will pay it.
I would say BT products are good, but I’m not sure i would say they are complex. They are the mac’n cheese of the bourbon world. Wild Turkey would be the lasagna of the bourbon world. Both very good depending on mood, but one is complex and the other is not. One appeals to a greater proportion of the market. That’s partly why I think BT products are so well liked.
Well I have just started my bourbon journey, as I can no longer stomach the price point for the Scotch I prefer to drink. I have been taking many notes from Brewzle about where to start looking, beyond Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams Bottle and Bond, and Old Grandad bottle and bond, and I have been pleasantly surprised to find several I enjoy. Four Roses single barrel and Woodford Double Oaked have been fantastic suggestions. There is a distillery named Heritage Distillery, out of Seattle, and there single barrel straight bourbon whiskey, four grain 55% corn, 25% wheat, 15% rye, 5% barley, 4yr aged Stiefel's select is also quite good. I already knew that I was not a big fan of rye dominant whiskey, so I have been able to remove that class of whiskeys from my search, but a hint is not bad at all. I had a pour of Weller Full Proof while I was in Estes Park, CO. and it changed how I thought of bourbon. That said, I have yet to find it anywhere in the state, but the hunt is on for that and Antique 107. Additionally, I paid way too much for a pour of William Larue Weller and it was epic, complex, rich mouth feel, a vanilla bomb, with a ton of caramel, and some warming spices, but who has that kind of money to drop on a bottle? I have had some 50yr scotches that did not come close to the flavor profile that bourbon gave me, but wow, the cost was crazy.
Found a bottle tonight at my local liquor store for 150. I did not buy it but I’m thinking about going back and getting it. What are your thoughts if anybody has any.
How much does it affect the flavor profile on an open bottle. I don't drink often or much and would like to know before investing in an expensive bottle.
