I’ve been in the market for a Rocky Mountain instinct powerplay a50. What is your experience with the powerplays? How do you like them? Any issues? How does the eco and trail modes feel? I also hear it is a high cadence bike is that true? What do you think? Please help me! I can’t decide on this or a Bosch or specialized motor. Oh and is the range on this bike good? Sorry for all the questions I’m just really needing to know. Thanks!
@hudsonisbetter They are the best. I like a kushy feeling rear-end and an overall softer more flexible feeling bike and that's what the frame offers. When I first got it I had to bring it back to the shop to have the software updated because the motor would stop engaging for about 2 crank rotations after coasting, but then kick back in, not terrible but annoying. I broke the gear off the motor output shaft after 2,000 abusive miles, RM warrantied the whole hub-shaft-gear thing. No complaints there. You can definitely feel the difference between each mode. I only use Trail and Ludacris and boy this thing is torquie. I've sheared pieces off both an XTR and XT cassettes, that was my fault I just need to be more carefully and Shimano warranted those for me. I've heard about that cadence thing too but I haven't had any problems there, maybe that computer update solved it?? I think you can get that A50 PP on Jenson right now for $3,000ish and you'll enjoy the heck out of it. If you don't like it I or someone else will gladly buy it off you for $2,500 next year.

Oh and my favorite rides are in the mountains, usually 30-60 miles and 5000-10000 feet of climbing in fire roads and mtb trails. Is this possible on the Rocky Mountain PP? On which modes? And does it require the OT pack? Thank you so much. (I used to own a Intense Razor MX with a small 500wh battery and a Shimano motor and it coundlt do 30 miles and only did 5000 feet of climbing so I had to get another battery and it barley made 8000 ft. So yeah the range sucked on that and I sold it)
@@hudsonisbetter I do 33 mile rides in Ludacris the whole time on 18 psi in the tires. Usually only climb 3.5-4.5k but I'll have 20% left in the battery. If you aired up to 25psi and used eco they say you can get 75 miles.
