Speaking of 80's-90's Japanese artists, you should check out Haruomi Hosono's 1982 album Philharmony. I think it was all made with Prophet 5, Emu-1, LM-1, and a couple other things. YMO also used one on Naughty Boys a year later.

@@Gazdatronik Kenji Kawai is amazing. My comment was intended as a compliment. It's not about the 7ths at all, but the very specific texture of the sound. The idea of lifting what is basically a commercial to make a very haunting OST is genius.

@@SlikkTim I wonder if its a sample or a transcription. It definitley sounds the same texturally
