A neat but also very annoying part of fighting Cro-Maine is, if he hits you with the club, you are literally knocked out of the boss arena and into the overworld. It is good because deaths are EXTREMELY costly and Cro just rings you out instead
Technically the final boss of the first game is fighting Lucifer who at the end emerges from the moon as a giant spider, and the player character merges with the Earth to kill Lucifer.
I hope one day this game will be remasterd into a new console. I rented this game about 20 times with my dad when i was a kid. We rented it so much the dude at the rental store asked if we wanted to buy it and we did. I still have it today.
You can see he went for maximum mobility above everything else trough all his creatures, probably because it would be a nightmare to play hitless otherwise.
a gimmick seveal people dont know about is that you can tackle enemies by dashing and pressing A, it makes waaay easier to hit enemies without being hit yourself...i dare say its a game changer
This is one of the most interesting games on the SNES and has some cool hidden lore if you explore the world enough. I always like to beat the game as a horse (using the healing exploit because Bolbox twoshots the horse). Funnily, the horse can reach the maximum amount of damage per hit with his kicks. Also this game is very hard.
For anyone who wants to get to play as a Flying Creature. You must climb the tallest mountain on the dino era an Jump from the ramp at it's peak. You Will get Wings right before You hit the ground. There's also a playable human Form. At the start of the Ice Era, a Ghost triceratops Will offer You the chance to become a rat, which haves access to the mammal evolutions. To get the human, You need to mix a Cat Head with a Rabbit Body to Have the option of becoming a monkey. Once You became the Monkey, You Just need to keep evolving further until You reach the human. But after that, the only thing You Will be able to change Is the size of the human between tall and short.
There is also a dragon form you can get via a red crystal in a secret area you can only access as a bird (and it’s the strongest form in this game) and a mermaid form you can only access in the Final Ocean in the final chapter of the game.
My idea if they will make a remake of this game for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam (my guess is that it will be an HD 2D game similar to Octopath Traveler or the Live a Live remake): Better English script and localization. Rename the creatures using proper names (e.g. "Ichthyostega" instead of "Ikustega", "Tyrannosaurus rex" or "T-rex" instead of "Tyrasaurus", "Cladoselache" instead of "Kuraselache"). The thecodonts ("Tecodonto") will be renamed "raptors" (also doubles as adaptation species change, in the original, they were basal archosaurs, but in the remake, they're Velociraptors (since the game features animals from different time periods in mashups of all of Earth's time periods)). The area they live in will now be renamed "Domain of Raptors" or "Raptors' Lair". Additionally, the Prime Frogs will be renamed "Devil Frogs", and their area should be named "Domain of Devil Frogs" or "Devil Frog Swamp". The Sand Eaters will be renamed "Sandworms" or "Death Worms". Bolbox, on the other hand, will have his name unchanged.
And to think I defeated the first 2 bosses without figuring I could evolve 🤔 Also, PRAISE THE FEATHERED DINOSAUR WITH A T-REX HEAD. Best build in the game bar NONE.
No hit is quite impressive. I myself have to evolve into a mammal to take out the Yetis and Cro-Maine, but I do use the green crystal to turn into a dragon for the final boss.
Looks like an interesting game to play. Of course watching someone who knows how to finesse the bosses like this, and playing it myself are two different beasts...
