My name is Charlotte, and I am the maker, knitter, and individual behind "Every Stitch Counts", based out of Washington state. On this channel I primarily make knitting podcasts for my other fiber and handmade loving folks. I talk mostly about what I have finished, what I've been working on, what I plan to be working on, and any other crafty or hobby driven en-devour I find myself doing! Sometimes, I also make vlogs, as well as other crafty, lifestyle and hobby related content!
2023 has come to a close and 2024 has arrived at our doorstep! I loved getting to go through all the items in my closet that I made over the course of 2023. Please enjoy this parade of sweaters!

What a gorgeous collection! I think you made the perfect amount of stuff…who needs 30 new sweaters each year? In 5 years you’d have 150 sweaters…! And yours are all very involved projects and ones to be proud of.

I’m still at the beginning of your video, but just wanted to say that I would so much rather watch year-in-review summaries/youtubers who focused on making more interesting or complex projects so that I can learn. And as soon as somebody says the knit dozens of items in the year I close out of their video since it just seems to overwhelming 😂 so, in summary, I enjoyed your pep talk in the intro. I’m looking forward to the rest of the episode!

Since when did knitting become an added pressure in this crazy world. Surely it should be the exact opposite. I totally agree with you. Unless you are earning a living from knitting it should be a restorative, therapeutic activity. In true old lady mode( which I am, bordering on very old indeed ) I have to say this world has gone bonkers .Beam me back to the 60s Scottie!😊

You made some rather involved makes that take more time - brioche jacket, cabled sweater, color work sweater and a two color vest. I really liked the sweaters you made and put a couple of the patterns in my queue. Thanks for the end of the year recap video. Happy New Year!!

So good to hear from you! I feel you on ripping things out. Two sweaters I started just were not turning out well AT ALL, so I am ripping them both out and going back to square one and picking new patterns. Frustrating but always worth it! Hope you are enjoying the new year. Much love to you!

I loved this - the reminder that knitting can be my part-time, knit whatever, as much as you want or don’t want… it was needed! 2023 was my first year as a knitter (I took an intro class at my LYS in Dec 2022). So ai see those videos with 30 finished sweaters and think “Will I ever be able to knit like that??” This reminds me that I DON’T HAVE TO! 🎉 Incidentally - you may be close by, as you mention Magpie, and MD Sheep and Wool - I’m in Northwen VA and Fibre Space is my go-to spot, about 20 mins from my home!

If you have not yet invested in a depiller, I would suggest not getting the rechargeable electric ones. I have several recommended ones and they take forever and are never that great. But the “Gleener” is awesome. It looks like a giant razor but there are no razors on it. Check it out. I depill all the time. And it is so fast and clean with that one. Over time the shedding and pilling slows. The reason for this is the loose fibers that shed from a yarn initially. With every depilling it is less and less.

Hi Charlotte! I have to tell you that your Fjelltur sweater episode gave me the courage to cut, and lengthen my current sweater. I am so thankful for that because I put so much work into it and was extremely bummed when I realized it would be too short. I still have to graft it back together but so far it’s looking good! I love your podcast and honest opinion. Your knits are beautiful!

It's so easy to feel this way when all of the people you follow on social media are also knitters. I have to say, as a viewer (and I just found your channel with this video!!), I'm not interested in how many garments you made last year. I'm more interested in what the garment was, why you knitted it, what you loved about it and how your making reflected what was happening in your overall life. That's the gold!

Handmade doesn't mean homemade looking. I would rather wear a handmade sweater than a machine knit sweater, which every commercial sweater is. If you want a sweater made on size 2 needles, you would be better off buying a machine made sweater; no one has time to knit a whole sweater on tiny needles. You should not be concerned about not having as many finished objects. You care about how the sweaters fit you, and take the time to fix it to fit you. If you look at how the multitude of sweaters finished by mega-knitters, you will see that many of them would fit someone 50 pounds heavier. I wonder if the knitters would purchase a ready-made sweater that was so large on them. Your sweaters are lovely and well done, especially the ones with cables and colorwork. Keep up the good work!
