Just revisiting a few videos.. A carboy filled wuth water on top of your brew bag of grains will greatly help to recover some liquid... Had to do this on your Oatmeal Wiskey Mash.. Cheers

Randy, I had no idea that there names for the different ways to sparge. Thanks for reminding about your bucket siv. I really liked the idea, but had forgotten about it. AS always I love your enthusiasm.

Hi Randy, A few years back I purchased a couple "Medium" bucket strainers for 5 Gallon buckets, and a couple for 55 gallon drums. Each strainer has a lip so you just put them on top of the bucket/barrel and dump in your grain, or open a valve to strain your wort. (I do this high protein beers with a lot of hops) Got them at US Plastics. They are handy to have around. www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=24071&catid=456&clickid=popcorn This is the same place I get PTFE discs for long term aging in the canning jars. Someone on HD forums uses a strainer by dumping grain onto the strainer in the bucket. But they have a shaker attachment on the side of the bucket. (I believe it is a sawzall with no blade in it.) They turn it on, and the grain spreads out, and liquid falls into the bucket (takes 5 to 10 seconds). User then picks up the strainer and dumps it into a bucket for composting. Then repeats. Cheers Randy!

i did oats one time and like you said it was the stickiest stuff i ever made. i ended up throwing a bunch of sugar in it to get the ABV up so i didn't have to mess with it.
