I dont know how i missed this video, this version (044) was my first rc in 1985. Back in those days ROAR had a Heavy Metal class where i raced mine against blackfoots, Big Bears and other trucks of the time. It eventually ended up with a 5th shock mod, hornet rear mount, lexan body, you-g fronts and a double a-arm front before i finally sold it and bought a buggy. I miss that little truck amd plan on buying the new version released this year.
I've just managed to get hold of a great example of one of these. As you say, it will make a fine addition next to my original Wild Willy and Willy's Wheeler.
Hey man! can you maybe measure the with of the chassis for me? hex to hex would be nice. and the diameter of those Brat wheels would be super nice as i'm thinking about designing my own chassis for this car since i i now have access to a professional laser-sinter 3D printer at work Thank you
I've got a Pajero with a heavily modified LB chassis, fully articulated rear transmission, 5th shock, oil shocks all round, centre mounted battery, torque tuned motor etc etc. It took an age to build and goes a lot better but it's still unstable 🙂
I always wanted one of these when I was a kid. I put one together out of parts in the middle of the 90's and then sold it on ebay in 2000. Just never really got into it. I never really got into the wheely poppin , just the wild willy. The Wild Willy never saw much use either. It's still with me and new 2000 wild willy.
I absolutely love driving mine, even though you're right, they handle TERRIBLY.... But like the Hornet etc that's the 80s nostalgia beauty of them. In saying that I'm particular about where i drive mine, hard sand and smooth walks.... Always get people ask about it and tell me about their Tamiya RCs, so it's got some cool value in that aspect....
Just picked up one of these on eBay. I paid $300 but it’s new, has been partially built, and never. I’ve always wanted this one and finally pulled the trigger. I was going to install the vintage speed controller but prob just go for electronic
AMPRO Engineering I bought it for the vintage aspect. It’s one I wanted as a kid. I love the body, and prefer the original platform to the CW 01 chassis that came out several years ago. Good channel btw! I’m a big fan of 80’s era Tamiya. I know they suck by today’s standard but nostalgia gets me every time.
lol I need to do a photoshoot [lol] of my franken cw-01. Chassis ended up heavily modded to fit TBG's 1/16 Gravedigger body. CW-01 chassis, hopper bumper, hopper wheels/tyres, hopper rear dampers, custom hopper front dampers, 380, cheap radio gear, TBG body with fr/rr lighting.
Well....... That Blackfoot INTERIOR sure got my attention!!! 😵😱 I have always loved this Pajero! WHY I didn't buy one back in the day, I'll never know. IF the time ever comes when I can buy RCs again, this one is DEFINITELY on my short list! It certainly has horrible handling. BUT, it appears (on video anyway), that with the different Servo position, it seems like the "Baby CW-01" has *FAR less* Toe change when landing jumps!!! 😵😵 SAME wild Camber Shift, but very little To movement. It appears like the Toe Rods ACTUALLY line up with the Control Arms. A *Tamiya FIRST!!!* 👍👍 I mentioned it before, what a gorgeous Paint Job!! 👏👏👏👏 I MAY try to build one of those.... Maybe out of the CW-01 that I've been piecing together for the past year. Take the whole lower Chassis off, move the front Arms up to the *original* mounts (HOPEFULLY WITH the AmPro Engineering Double Wishbone setup!). And reinstall my AmPro Modified Rear Gearbox up to the original mount points (Having the Wheelbase off by about 8-10mm, by using the Hornet Axle Stays (or original Lunchbox)..... And the Montero Wheelie Body - OR the new Pro-Line (forgot the name) short Wheelbase Suzuki Lexan Body with Brat Wheels/Tires. If nothing else, it WILL be a conversation starter!!! 😎 It's a plan anyway... Carmine 🚂
Alberto, do you think that your Double Wishbone setup would fit into the original UPPER Mounts?? I may try to reinvent a whole new machine - since my CW-01 Chassis is nothing but spare parts...
Yeah I saw that. It looks like the just put small tires on the CWO1 and did not use the bare CW01 chassis. I think they did this since the CW01 has external access to the battery where this requires you to remove the shell.
The reason you think you saw it badged as Pajero in the USA is because a group of people on 4x4wire.com purchased the nameplates and installed them. I never switched my badges but considered it.
Thank you. The copper is Testors from a spray can and the yellow, orange and red are all Tamiya poly-carbonate paint. All clear coated but it is very dangerous to do it with this method as the solvents will react with each other if not done correctly.
Can you provide information about this? The ones on this are original and looking at Tamiya documentation, the text, tread, diameter, width and part numbers are the same as the brat, including the wheels.
That Monterey is a neat truck, what front shocks would u recommend for me as I'm doing a build like it but it's going to have a lunchbox body and it's the lunchbox chassis so shock mounts are higher ( kind of like a low rider lunchbox
New as in current model with a recent design date? Hmmmm.....well as of 2 hours ago, my last "NEW" rc was the Willy's Wheeler on the new chassis (I forget the number) but I just bought the brand new Traxxas 79 Bronco.
The "j" in pajero is not pronounced as an "h" . Pajero, not pahero. You are the first and only person I've ever heard someone pronounce pajero this way. I've even worked at a Mitsubishi dealership where we actually had engineers from Japan help train us on the Evo cars. Even they did not pronounce it pahero. We had Pajero 2 door and Montero 4 door models. The Pajero rights were sold to Suzuki and rebadged Samurai and 4door models rebedged Sidekick. Suzuki in the U.S. were like Saturn is to G.M. Nice, in-depth video. But I just thought I'd let you know about the name.
Yeah I have heard that many times. Pajero is also spanish for Bird and when used in that context, the J is pronounced as an H. I guess when immersed in Spanish culture like I am here, we immediately say the H version. I guess it is the same as a friend of mine named Jaime....
Pajero is pronounced /pɑ'xɛ.ɹoʊ/ ; the j is like the "ch" in loch.... at least where im from ... n-europe ... anyways.... I think this body ages xtremely well ... love it
