The ball was fielded in fair territory. If Adolis Garcia would have ran to first, he’d beat the throw for sure.

I think the broadcasters were just grasping at straws just trying to come up with any possible reason Bochy could be arguing. They obviously had nothing. Was no reason for Bochy to be arguing that.

From little league up until HS ball, every coach I had would tell us run every single time you make contact. There's zero excuse for this type of outcome. If the ball winds up being foul in the end, the umpires will kindly let you know

the funny thing is the rangers broadcast was saying they felt it was the right call, and that Bochy was just trying to defend Garcia. Interesting the detroit broadcast had a problem.

The last 2 seconds of the video show that ball was fair. See, even when you do everything right as umpires, the coach just demands to hit the showers.

What it really comes down to is Garcia not running to first whether it was fair or foul, manager had nothing, good call blue

Wait... 00:33 what was up with that baserunning path? It looks like the runner was attempting to impede the throw from 1st to 2nd, and this comes before the shortstop's potential obstruction.

Maybe the broadcasters need a rules and umpire mechanics refresher so they don't sound so stupid. Glad I missed that game today! lol Craig Monroe must of had one too many hot dogs at that point. 😉

you said benetti was wrong but your explanation was exactly what he said. He was commenting on what bochy may have been saying and explained the plate ump usually has the call on balls like that in front of the bag.

Bend Oregon was screwed by an umpire error. Hey Sparky, it wasn’t your call. Then Little League refused to get the call correct even with replay. Little League needs better umpires in the play offs.

So ,, a runner turning to third AFTER passing secound base and is obstructed , it is a delayed dead ball. Then after the play has stopped, the umpire never inflicted punishment for the obstruction!! The runner already had secound, wheres the punishment?? Its not about him going back to second , the rule infraction happened between second and third! The punishment for obstruction should be , runner to third! If not, theres no need to call it!

Your breakdowns are always great! I'm curious as to why umpires do not seem to know the rule book? And as for broadcasters, they too, should bloody well the frigging rules.

Look at the title of this video. There is no such things as a "Fair Ball Call", at least not a verbal one. It's fair unless an umpire makes a FOUL ball call. Bottom line - if you do not HEAR the umpire audibly call foul ball, it's fair!

Commentators should have to make a rules test before having a license to mislead fans granted.

The third base umpire should be the one calling fair or foul ball not the home plate umpire

The broadcaster did not say anything wrong. Listen again. He clearly says at the 1:46 mark, "because typically you will see on a play like that IN FRONT OF THE BAG, you'll see the plate umpire signal as well." The broadcaster clearly states that the plate umpire makes the call if the ball is IN FRONT of third base and then you go off on a tangent saying the exact same thing the broadcaster said but then saying he was wrong in what he said. Obviously in this case the ball was BEHIND the bag, so it isn't the plate umpire's call but the broadcaster was stating what happens when the ball is IN FRONT of the bag so I don't know why you went off on the broadcaster like that. You cut him off after that so I don't know if we went on to say something incorrect as the audio continued. But the audio you presented here in this video is not incorrect. You owe this broadcaster an apology.

That 3B ump made a terrible call earlier in the game on an Evan Carter check swing. Absolute terrible call. Adolis hit a solo shot in the following at bat...wouldve been a 2 run homer if 3B ump had made proper call
