You guys sure have been pretty lucky to avoid any rain on this trip.
@simpleoverlander

Yes we were, although we were hoping for some later in the trip. Other than the first couple of days, it was a dry trip. Much of the route could have changed drastically had it rained. In dry weather most any vehicle could have done a majority of this Continental Divide trail. In rain though, there would have been many places we would not have even attempted.

I somehow missed this video. That is so cool you got to meet up with them. I love all those birdhouses and that deck. I will check out their video. I met Tristan from SUV RVing back in Jan, very cool guy and awesome channel.

Helena seems to be a very beautiful city...

It was a nice smaller city. The fringes of the town were really nice though. Great views, less crowds, and still all the amenities close by. I could live there for sure.

I dont know if it's been asked before, but are you still on the stock 3.55 gears? My XJ build is, and with 33s and the same tire carrier setup she is a lot less peppy than she was before the work. You've logged a lot of miles on and off highway and your rig is heavier than mine. Just curious how the stock gearing has worked out for you. Thanks!
@simpleoverlander
@simpleoverlander 3 года назад
I do have stock gears still. The Jeep had a lift and larger tires when I bought it, so I can't compare the difference of how it felt as stock For my use I have no need to change the gearing. It works for my application and have no noticeable issues on the highway or the trails. It handles the trails just fine and I can drive at 80mph without major vibrations (although I just don't like going over 70 since that seems to be the sweet spot on the highway) After 3 years I have no reason to change it up.

@@simpleoverlander I know this is from awhile ago but what size lift and tires do you have on your jeep?

Do you by any chance have a map of the route you took for the Continental Divide Trail. Been looking to do this, but can't find anything for my Gaia. Did you happen to plot the route as a gpx file that you can share?
@simpleoverlander
@simpleoverlander 3 года назад
Gzr Gldr The route was purchased by the other guy for $40 from GPS Ken (can Google the site). He downloaded it to Gaia and we followed that. It is a motorcycle route, so we hit some dead ends and impassible spots, but worked around them.

@@simpleoverlander Thanks for the reply. I'll look into that. I envy you being able to take that much time to explore the country. Also, thank you for the videos, I replaced my heater core and AC evaporator by following your repair. You did a great job showing some of the pitfalls and possible solutions in that series of videos and can't thank you enough.
