Here is the second of the recently purchased new Tamiya kits I picked up, the Hotshot II is now finished and awaiting a running video on a nicer day. It’s now time to turn attention to the new BT-01 chassis. In this video we take a look at what’s in the box. Enjoy and take care.

Hi Andy and thanks for a very interesting overview of the new kit. I'm on the fence about this one so I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with it. I do like this body set, cool you get the light buckets, they always look better than stickers. Take care fella! 😎👊👍

Hi Mark hope your well chap. I’m Keen to try this one out especially round a track as well I’m expecting it to be more stable than it’s MB01 small brother . Wing and light buckets are definitely a good move like you say especially for realism. Take care matey

Hi Damien , I must admit the on road cars never grab me in the same way as the off road cars , but I do like to nosey at the new chassis and see what there like. Cheers mate

Cheers Joe , the build will start off pretty standard except bearings throughout and a torque tuned motor to start with as i want to try it out in the Tamiya stock class at our club but after that we shall see. Cheers

Looks a good chassis, The Supra is FR in real life which is something I'll be doing with this kit instead of running it in the MR configuration.

Will be cool to see it in its real life configuration , which is cool that you can do that with it . I’ve built the mb01 which is pretty much the same design especially the rear end/transmission etc. looking forward to trying this one out once built ;)

Just got my BT-01 in the post a few days ago, i am looking forward to the build, really wish it had come with oil shocks and a slightly better motor.

Yes I agree , I’d rather pay an extra £20 for the kit if it had oil shocks and even just a torque tuned motor, enjoy your build

Swings and round abouts unfortunately, there’s been some kits that have made it to Australia before us like the kyosho mid prototype and other things , I don’t know how they work it. Hopefully these kits will show up on your shores very soon :)

I have been looking at getting one of these kits it would be interesting to see it made up into its 3 settings and then compare how it handles in each setup 👍🏼😊

Hi Simon I’ve already had the mb01 basically a shorter version of this chassis so I imagine this will be a bit more stable driving wise, would be interesting to compare the different chassis layouts , it maybe something I try 🤔 cheers

I'll wait and see if they release it with another body as that Supra is so old, i have 2 of them already. And since its an old body its got pre cut decals U need body magnets, do not make holes in 2024 😉

I got it mainly for the chassis myself. Surpa is ok but I bet you can fit quite a few different body styles on the chassis. I’ll have body pins on mine , magnets are no good if you race it round a track , but it does looks Better without holes

I really like the look of the BT-01 chassis, but no included bearings and friction shocks really puts me off. Shame really. ANd why Tamiya call it an FF or FR is odd, strictly speaking they're all mid-motor configs. Awesome video as always mate!!

Hi, where or how does the M-05 Kingpin fit the suspension of the BT-01 or MB-01?

They screw into the steering bridge link which have the ball studs at each end

Are you going to put get ball bearings for it? and parts that will stop the slop in the suspension?

Bearing kit already purchased and ready for the build , I’ve not got the metal collars for the suspension arms yet but I may get some and put them in as I’m sure they will wear relatively quickly.
