@@stillworksandbrewing I can understand that but if used very sparingly it can bring a little extra enjoyable body to your drink. You have a great pod cast. Keep up the good work
Great video! Did you connect up your reflux chamber? I am curious on your thoughts about triple distilling since that is traditional in Irish whiskey, i.e. one stripping run and two spirit runs. You had a fair amount of reflux with your copper and ceramic rings which may not require the multiple distillations. Traditional Irish practice is pure pot still. But this is Irish Style, right😉? Cheers!
I did reflux for about 10 min then I ran at a slow pace to try to keep pure as i could i think the taste is their sometimes i think when working with a small still some things can be challenging but I love this hobby cheers my Friend
Just learning how to do this over lock down. one question though. Are you running this in Pot Still Mode ? because your setup suggests your going to run it in Reflux. Paul
I leave on oak chips about 1-2 weeks then put into bottles then enjoy in few weeks and yes it gets better with age some times i will put a charred oak stick in bottle
no not in a while I learned to run a still using gas and a pmw switch is just like using gas I gauge by head temp feel of the column and out put. I will have to give it a try soon
Yet another great video my friend !! A question,, I'm wondering the height of your column. Santa was nice to me this year and gave me a 12" column extension for a "mighty mini". Hypothetically of course, I'm wondering if the additional height might be able to produce a spirit higher in proof than without the column extension. Of course rings as well as copper mesh must be considered. Best as always, --- den
hi ive got 5 litres of whisky 1-61%..1-55% 1-40% and 2 litres of cloudy shit... i want to run back through pot as i got a slight chemical taste.... how do i do this.? do i just chuck the 5 litres straight in pot and fire it up of do i need to water it down ect../ any help would be great please
Well first a quart is a stupid thing of the USA metric is so much easier lol yes and no. The first you put in still was say 10% now you are put in 40% so should be less time
