@@pieppy6058 Its only for PS3 and Xbox 360. Which these games were a shadow of the nextgen/pc versions anyway. Can this happen to PS4/Xbox One and PC versions later down the line? Sure but dont believe its all doom and gloom yet and the way this video portrays it to be completely wiped from all platforms.
@@iTomBass it will be completely wiped from all platforms just you wait... it is in fact doom and gloom that's the situation of modern gaming. Look at games like The Crew and other online only titles.
@@miku-chanfromUA why tho xD it's true isn't it? Same thing with new Adobe policy, that they can use your intellectual property for their purpose without any need for asking
marketing and as bluedrake said in the video "pretty lights" will probably win in the end, but at least with enough people like us we can delay this slow, rotting demise for the videogame industry
We've hit the common denominator for gamers (not to insult them, but games are catered to the most casual of gamers possible) and those people were gonna be the biggest buying force anyway. They are easily swayed by the tactics of the market which is no longer about big gameplay changes and stories anymore. (BG3 did but look at how special of a case that had to be, had to tick EVERY SINGLE BOX to get its recognition. If the graphics would have held back, it would have had not the same success.) Pretty pictures, a decent loop, and monetization are all acceptable with them. i haven't shelled out the money for a triple A title in a long time, but still have all their old titles from the SAME COMPANIES in my library. Why is that? Modern gaming doesn't actually care about the answers to those kinda questions. There will be a day where complaining about this stuff will get you called a boomer!🤣🤣🤣Maybe, their fad for it passes away and gamers with standards become the main buying force again. Or gamers will get standards all of a sudden and somehow come together to demand more. I remember when 5 years for a video game used to give you a seriously good experience!!! Or your game was shitted on by the masses! Gamers wanted some engaging shit to have them playing! Casual gamers should get to have all the fun they want, I love more people experienced gaming now! But they want every game series to be simpler and based down to cater to them instead of learning how to play the damn thing!
i dont think im ever going to buy an EA published game, ever again. I cant even play most of the games i have due to how poorly the EA launcher is made - the fact that you cant play anything offline, error codes all the time, refusing to update, etc. I dont care about the next battlefield and from what we've seen from the investor's call it will suck almost as much as bf2042. Realistically the chances of bf7 being a good game are so slim that you have a higher chance of winning a gazillion dollars at the lottery 5 times over, in a row, than for them to publish a semi-decent game. EA is over. give them another 5 years and they will be completely insignificant
This is basically from a gamerant article. They’re not reliable sources. I saw this article back in June and another game news site copy-pasted it just a few hours today.
I can’t abide by how EA just erases its own games from existence. If they included offline modes (3hr campaigns and War Stories don’t count) playable locally and against bots (like Star Wars Battlefront), their games would live forever!
@@illuminerdy there are people who mod these games to be played with bots later down the road, such is the case with bad company 2, there's some guy who managed to get bfbc2 vietnam working with bots and it's looking good already
3hr campaign with cinematics and cutscenes haha sadly I wish they lasted more and had more replayability. Those campaigns after 2 or 3 times get dull quickly
They're so damn stupid. Battlefield 2042 isn't bf4, shutting down the servers isn't going to get me to buy their shit games. After this. I'm just not going to buy anything EA
@@Verociity Except that won't happen for a long time. EA isn't footing the cost for the servers for PC. They license the server software to hosting providers and aren't directly hosting the servers themselves. So they make a net gain on PC due to the licensing fees.
Sad reality of these big companies. They are forcing people to move into their sh**ty new game (2042)... we love playing polished games but they are forcing us out of our happiness
Tbf running the servers for low player counts is losing them a lot of money. That's why they're shutting them down. Continual server service gets expensive
That's the problem with Corporate politics. Corporations breaks capitalism. Capitalism works in the sweet spot between practically nothing and pre-corporate greed. Once corporate status is attained regulation and taxation needs to be implement to stop them stamping on the small fry.
Same here man, im 23 now and i still remember getting bf3 as an early birthday present when it dropped in 2011. Remember playing the bf4 closed and open beta. Pretty sure I skipped school for a couple days just to play ahaha So many good memories with that game man, so sad to see this happening to our beloved franchise…
True but at least with ubi they have some old servers up still, last I checked R6V2 still has some multiplayer games/lobbys that are still up. And that game is quite a few years older than BF3 and BF4
Not only is this disrespectful to fans, but it is also disrespectful to the developers who poured their blood, sweat, and tears into creating these games.
Bloody legends! Hope someone's doing/planning the same for BF4. I'd spend some good money on that for sure, after buying what I believe is my third copy of BF4 for the PC after jumping from PS3 and XB1.
@@Mr_Mistah EA is rich enough. They definitely should continue allowing the servers to be online because of how successful and fun BF3 and BF1 are. Less so hardline... but...
@@May-gr8bp Apparently it's only the xb360 and ps3 servers that are being axed. The later gen consoles are still good...... at least for the time being.
Xbox 360 and PS3. You left out that part. Im assuming for clicks. Venice unleashed has had custom servers for bf3 and bc2, nearly nobody uses them. BF4 on ps4, xbone and pc has the most populated servers of any battlefield game. I cant see them shutting them down soon. Im sorry but this video was a miss.
I disagree. Yes, it is only Xbox 360 and PS3. For now. That's his point. That this is an established pattern, and that eventually they will do the same for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. As for Venice Unleashed, yes, very few people do use those servers, and that's genuinely sad. However, I think that's partly due to the difficulty in actually setting up and modifying those servers. In my opinion, it's way too difficult for your average player to customize and host a server on it, and if they simplified it, I think that would go a long way. As for your final point, yes, Battlefield 4 is the most populated of any Battlefield game. That is exactly why they may shut it down soon. To encourage people to move on to the newest Battlefield game. However, you are correct in assuming that that decision could backfire dramatically, and so maybe they would refrain from doing that any time in the near future.
People it's for PS3 and Xbox 360. As someone who plays on PS3 Battlefield 3 barely has half a server and Battlefield 4 only has 1 full active server depending on the time of day. It makes no sense for them to keep it open.
Exactly this. Bluedrake is using this video as complete ragebait to promote his game. Notice how at any point he could've said it was only the PS3/360 in the Title or even on the thumbnail. But no he wanted to create outrage to push his game.
Utterly tragic. BF3 is my most played game ever. My favorite multiplayer game ever. I play it regularly till this day. There is nothing close to it on the market still today. I will be shedding tears. I'm close to it even right now...
@@dylankelly6189 I have 350 hours on the PS3. I play it from time to time still for the nostalgia. So it still hits, first of all, and second of all, the PC versions will get cut too in time don't worry.
@@johntanner1212 "Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 will remain playable on PC ONLY, while Hardline will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC." You have until November 7th unfortunately. @@Seawolf.Gamingfor now. It’ll come to the PC servers too it’s just a matter of time. That’s why I’ve been playing the shit out of it while I’m able to.
@@Sc4r1_ Nope because EA doesn't pay for the PC community servers. They liscense the server software to hosters each month. They make a profit off of it.
Wait really? That kinda changes things (slightly). If it was ALL console support gone, i would believe PC was soon after, but if they are just doing older consoles (for now) we still might have a reasonable amount of time left for BF4, like years. And i know any amount of time is still not ok, but this video makes it sound way worse then it actually is, and happening now... Also, im waiting for all these indie games that give a 1 to 1 to a battlefield experience he keep saying in the video... Cause his game is actually terrible and has no Anti Cheat. It may be ok if you are looking for a BF3 experience (and that's even a stretch), but its not even worthy to sniff BF4's farts, let alone compare to V and 1 experience.
@@anthonyfrazier3812 I hope so, but he does mention EA shut those down for other games already, so they will 100% do it for 4, 3, and 1 if we try playing after they decide we can not anymore. Its ridiculous because 4 and 1 i feel more than others will always be reliant and allot of players. Bro, i literally have 1, 5 and 2042 installed right now and after a clean Windows install they are some of the first essential installs i do right away.

@@anthonyfrazier3812I hope BF1 never dies tbh. I will legit be fucking pissed if they kill that game on PC. I find lobbies in less than 30 seconds and haven’t ran into a hacker or cheater in my nearly two weeks of constantly playing everyday…not one. BF1’s multiplayer on PC has been the most amount of fun I’ve had in a FPS in a loooooooong time. So much better on PC dood. I fucking hate EA. I’ll hate them even more when they kill BF1 on PC. *IF* they do.
Oh yeah 100%. I figured this out years ago. I even went to school so I could make my own games but ran into difficulties and had to get a normal job but working on several new businesses to fund projects that I have always wanted to do like creating my own studio with the sole of purpose of restoring gaming to how it used to be. I'm the kind of person that would buy an island outside the US, put a massive server farm on it and connect it to the internet through proxies, hire a large private military to protect it and continue to host services for people that PAID for them. Regardless of chest pounding I saw this coming nearly 2 decades ago and decided to try to do something about it but failed. I wasn't motivated too much because the modding community was and still is really good and singlehandedly saved games like Cyberpunk 2077 just like I predicted it would. The next step now will be to get the word out on gaming communities like this and many others to the masses. So many independent studios are out now doing Gods work making great games that aren't aggressive money machines exploiting children. Case in point with the space game genre there have been numerous developments with games like Starfield, Elite Dangerous, and Star Citizen. Each are still in various stages of on going development, but Starfield is the worst when it comes to game monopoly with aggressive monetization strategies. So ONE single guy goes out and makes a game called Spacebourne 2 and blows all the competition out of the water but not many people know about it. I have downloaded your game too Bluedrake and loved it. Im hoping people can make some more arcade like servers to help recreate games like BF2,BF3, and BF4 and give people those experiences. What needs to be done as well though, is an aggressive marketing campaign and attorneys to protect you from companies like EA who will eventually come after you with false copywrite infringement lawsuits. Not that they would win in court but use it as lawfare to keep funds and your time tied up to prevent you from doing what you are doing. Keep up the good work.
I've been saying similar, these companies should sell off the games and online features they just choose not to support. there's already people that preserve this stuff for free so honestly, I bet people would pay for those experiences, hell I would for bf4
You sound like a really cool person, dude. Please stay safe and don't get $whacked keep helping us in the fight of keeping gaming fun, alive and healthy for everyone!
Why do some people think they are sabotaging other games to promote new games? Guys, I know that EA is one of the most mercenary companies, but there is a reason why BF3 and BF4 will no longer be played on the Xbox 360 and PS3, the Xbox 360 has come to an end, many multiplayer games on the PS3 and x360 will be closed too, BF3 and BF4 will stay for more than 4 months after the end of x360, while other games will close weeks later
He failed to mention 360 and PS3 servers. While also showing gameplay of his game in the back. BF4 will still be going on strong 💪. BF3 and BF4 will still will be fine on PC.
I find it ironic that I am rooting for the success of OHD because of the moral implications, but at the same time, out of principle, I can not support its development monetarily.
I understand. We'll create a separate standard commercial game in the future and perhaps you can purchase that to indirectly support our studio, which also benefits the OHD project.
so from my nose in dice it seems EA higher ups take why bf 2042 flopoped so bad was due to the fact players had many manyyyy battlefield games to go back to but bf3 and 4 dont have a working or any microtransaction systems in them aka why 5 and 1 and even hardline were not touched. so its greed on top of not reading or understanding shit
@@kaapokoodaaand on top of the micro transactions, there were still the DLC map packs which if im remembering right were $20 a pop. To be honest if new players were trying out these older games when 2042 flopped EA should’ve been happy and tried to push for them to buy old DLCs because that could’ve been a decent bit of revenue when no one was playing 2042 and it didn’t even have a shop.
Bf1 didn't really have micro transactions other than buying boxes for skins that you could unlock from just leveling up. BF4 had the same deal pretty much lol
@@Astrothunder_ I'm not sure that it would have been enough to justify the continued expenditure. In BF4, for example, there was such an enormous variety of maps and game modes that it fragmented the playerbase, causing much of the content in the shadow of the more popular game modes to become deserted almost right off the bat (for example Carrier Assault).
not buying EA or Ubi games yesterday. Not buying them today, not buying them tomorrow. I warned all my friends about this crap back in 2008. This is how it starts, first they abandon disks, then they abandon single player, then they abandon offline and at last the abandon online. I stick with DRM free.
Anyone know if Operation Harsh Door Stop has settings for mouse resolutions higher than 400-800 yet? Mine's 1600 DPI and last time I tried the settings didn't allow for a DPI that high. Would love to try the game but not going to mess with my mouse config.
This was going through my head when I reinstalled BF4 for a month or so last year. The joke is really on EA at this point since I'm not really invested in any of their games at this point and I'm not sure between Squad, OHD, the new Delta Force game, and at least one other game I'm forgetting that too many people will even buy the new battlefield.
Thankfully I don't feel the urge to buy an online EA game ever again. If they make another singleplayer Cal Kestis Jedi game that's the only thing that could tempt me. Keep supporting OHD!
Where does it say that he was specifically saying at the beginning for Battlefield 3 and 4 for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and most likely Steam to follow soon.
EA shut down the BF2 PC multiplayer master server, and they also just did that to Bad Company 2. They are now going to do that to BF3 and BF4. Just wait and watch.
So any AAA game I buy I should expect in 10 years it will be shut down. Good to know for any future purchases. Ross' Game Dungeon/Accursed Farms "stop killing games" come to mind, might wanna see what he thinks of this.
The video gaming industry is shaped and influenced by our purchasing decisions. What EA is doing is a reflection of what we gamers have done to ourselves and the hobby we love. Voting with your wallet is the only language that giant corporations understand and care about.
But the thing is that they just shutdown the servers on older consoles PS3 and Xbox360. You can still play these three games on PS4/PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
This is wrong. Battlefield 3 and 4 are also being shut down for XBOX X/S and PS4/5. This is the just the beginning of the sunsetting process. This is exactly what they already did to Bad Company and the other previous-generation Battlefield games.
I guess people like me did not understand that BF3, BF4, and many other games are also Live Service games. Where you technically do not own the online-only or multiplayer parts of games, and can be shut down whenever they want.
I am never giving EA my money for a new BF game after this. BF4, and somewhat, BF3 are literally the only BF/ BF like games I play nowadays. Everything else just doesn’t feel the same. This makes me worried for even BF1. And once BF1 is gone, the amazing legacy of true Battlefield games will be gone forever.
Sorry to say, but EA will never be able to solve EA's own problems. A remastered BF-BC2 will never live up to the same standard as the original. EA does not understand their audience anymore. All they see is profits. In the words of EA's former CEO: "When you are six hours into playing Battlefield and you run out of ammo in your clip, and we ask you for a dollar to reload, you're really not very price sensitive at that point in time." -John Riccitiello
@@CorruptOutcast This is the worst excuse I've ever heard for not developing a sequel,And EA even thinks that it wouldnt sell,Of course it would sell just of the title alone
Instead of promoting your game you should be promoting Venice Unleashed if you really care about the true Battlefield 3 fans. Also there is Nexus for BF4.
Venice Unleashed still uses EA servers to authenticate and they use BF3 master servers so when they shutdown BF3 there is no way to host servers and if anyone host master servers they will sue you, because thats what they did to BF2 master server providers
Press F for respect mate... Game dev here!!!! I play your game and it is really well done!!!! And I really like you are pushing your game and keep it up!!! and Thank You!!!! Just keep promoting yourself and your game it is very healthy for the industry right now.... Epic is promoting fortnite and everything around it right?!?!?
He's literally shitting on his competitors and promoting his own. If he was just promoting, fine. But this is disingenuously shitting on EA to gather all the bf3 player base. I am not a fan of EA.
@@DePistolero I don’t understand what is insane about getting sued for using someone else’s IP and taking money away from someone else’s product. Severs are shutting down because consoles are not making enough money. Same with bf2, it’s like he expected EA to keep the servers alive just for him which sounds pretty entitled. They have people to pay and a higher responsibility of keeping the company alive. They’re not “shutting down the game,” they’re shutting down the servers. You can’t expect ANY company to keep servers up indefinitely if they are not making enough money to do so. Admittedly, they could allow private servers but not sure why they do not. This is why I said it’s disingenuous. Sure they could do some things better but all of this is overlooked and overblown.
As soon as EA hid the dedicated server files it was endgame. Being only able to rent servers was a clearer sign EA was putting an expiry date on those games It's probably worth adding this evidence to what AccursedFarms already are doing
Selling this game then weeks and month before is just a Scam. Imagine you buy it for old times sake and they just shut it down 1 month after... f them But I think they could have financial problems, because the greedy investors want growth..
@@hurricane7727 no not really, people want the old games because of good memories, they dont really want exact copies. But they need some new stuff that people have fun with. If anyone is just hearing about this game for the first time, you gotta check out how far the game has come in the last couple years. Operation Harsh Doorstop is a great example of "let it cook"❤❤
Everyone celebrated the death of GameSpy until they realized almost every older PC game used GameSpy master servers to populate those games server browsers.
With games everywhere getting online content cut, like with The Crew, making it completely unplayable. Would the sales become less if at release if it was known before hand? And if on the packaging of the game there was a big sticker saying: ''Will only be supported for 10 years/until the year XXXX''. Would this makes thing better/more fair? I don't think it really would at this point, but it would atleast be better if it is known before hand. (But somehow have that sticker/notification/annoucement with the exact minimum years and make that legally binding... idk, just thinking out loud).
Well, even at a steep discount, I think it's stupid that they're still selling games that will be completely unplayable because they are always online games. Would you even be able to play campaigns?
Imagine if after a mere 14 years you could never watch your favorite movie ever again. If this continues, I could see people my age (mid twenties) totally leaving the video game space whenever their favorite game gets killed off.
About OP Harsh Doorstop, its a fine experience, def won't beat things like Squad and Insurgency Sandstorm in its current state, the AI is pretty whacky at times, characters dosen't have death animations they just simply ragdoll onto the ground where they stood, like when you cut the cords of a puppet, UI is not user friendly and not really pretty to look at, finding a good server outside of the US is a chore, other than these? Its a pretty fine game for free, but i wouldn't pay for it if i would have to.
I tried playing 2042 last night, I kept getting server errors and infinite game searching. Couldn’t even create a singleplayer game. I launched BF4 and it took me 2 seconds to get in a game.
