The most standout examples I find are always Minecraft with its very, very simplistic graphics and non-objective focus when that was the trend and want in games and the people who cry for the purist arena shooter. So many arena shooters have cropped up over the years providing the staples of the genre and yet the majority are ghost towns save for Quake Champions despite it not being what a purist preaches what they want.

Some mobile games today are worth spending on though. But not to win. Sometimes for your waifu/husbando. But always because they actually make a GOOD game. ...yes, I am extremely biased towards Fate/Grand Order (just check out my channel) and their F2P-friendly gameplay (which is Singleplayer ONLY and with a great story). Main reason you buy from them willingly is either for waifu or because you actually support their good practices (which is very unlike Crunchyroll and Memoria Freese considering they censored NOTHING) and how in-touch they are with their fanbase since 15 years ago

People not playing them as they're marketed isn't an issue. They made a system that is both portable but still easily played on a large tv. Sony did this also by selling the vita and having to crossplay it which is annoying depending on how your homes internet network functions. Nintendo kept the cost to a single system with no latency by pairing another device. I love my vita but don't buy it for the crossplay function. EA is on another level of marketing stuff nobody wants.

Why indeed, just compare it to Red Alert 3, Kane's Wrath allowed for 8 players (I can't even believe EA managed to create an scenario where this can be pointed out), it has 2 subfactions for each faction, it's economy hasn't been enforced into the node systems and it actually allowed to make fairly large armies, overall gameplay choices allowed for large strategic decisions and fast-paced RA2/YR-like action as well as a decent level of micromanagement in the vein of Generals/ZH and TS/FS. Also the thematic and visual design, while still narmy at times Kane's Wrath feels like a military scifi thriller, something RA3 simply doesn't have, Kane's Wrath graphics allowed for a wondrous suspension of unbelief and a right sense of scale, you just have to compare the Nod Avatar with the EotRS King Oni, the former could be seen as the result of advanced robotics and state-of-the-art energy project weaponry, flavoured with Nod's quasi-religious parafernalia, the later was a silly, flanderized interpretation of anime mecha. On that sense the story was similar, Kane's Wrath uses Nod Messiah for maximun effect, no need for fanservice, famous star names or bad jokes, Joe Kucan chews the room and reminds us why the franchise has always been so cherished for its visual media.

My issue with RA3 was the co-op only campaign that no longer has servers and for some stupid reason - lacked LAN support.

KW was my fav c&c it had skirmish, campaign and other single player modes + pvp 3 factions 6 subfactions Super units Kanes wrath should be remade with better graphics, new maps, units, unit upgrades and those power things like overlords wrath, tiberium vapor bomb, orcastrike... Simple as that

You mean Generals 2, right? Yeah. People didn't like the Microtransaction system, so EA decided to scrap the entire thing rather than just fix the Microtransactions to be less bullshit. But, of course, let's also not forget that there was going to be a game akin to C&C: Renegade called C&C: Tiberium, which actually looked pretty good. This game was scrapped because it "Didn't meet EA's quality standards", and then it was followed up by them releasing C&C: 4, because apparently THAT met their "quality standards". Quality standards my ass, EA.

Yup. It would simply have been titled "Command and Conquer" and been similar in play to Generals, but with tech and vehicles similar to the vanilla series. Its gimmick was that there would be a MOBA-style growing roster of faction leaders who you would rent - not buy, RENT - if you wanted to play that faction. So imagine Generals, but if you want to use Doctor Thrax for a week, you gotta drop 3 bucks. It had a lot of streamed alpha play, and while the maps weren't very big, all the parts looked to be there. The GLA seemed to be pretty robust, which is weird when you consider that canonically America assassinated every GLA leader and China nuked half the planet to kill the surviving followers BUT HEY. However fans, including testers, were so adamant that the rental model was trash that EA decided not to publish. Not just to remove that mechanic, they axed the WHOLE GAME. Oh, and they closed the studio making it, Victory Games. Because it isn't a proper EA tantrum unless you shut down a studio.

Not really, but this is what happens when game developers pay attention to only the ones financing the game they are making. Yes things need to change over time but completely disregarding what made the product good is foolish. I've never been one to be drawn in by the "oooh pretty graphics." If the car is pretty but is held together by duct tape under the hood and the manufacturer and car dealer is asking full price for it eventually people will stop buying it no matter how pretty the turd looks.

RoverStorm look st Star Wars battlefront 1, people said they didn't want it to be a battlefield reskin so Dice made sure it wasn't. The result no vehicle depth, arcady power up, no squads, no classes, no conquest and low skill guns. The problem is people make to general of statements. As gamers we need to be more specific with features we want.

@joey hamilton They just needed to make Star Wars Battlefront 1 (new) exactly like Star Wars Battlefront 2 (old) but with updated graphics, more maps and the usual online stuff that doesn't have a direct impact on the game-play (like achievements and best player rankings). joey hamilton but I wanted it to be a Battlefield reskin. and back then, I saw a lot of people asking just that, bf4 but with a star wars skin.(and that statement echoed to Battlefield 1 as well) Battlefield 4 reskin was the next best thing if we couldn't have the battlefront 3 that was in development. There was also complaints of lack of content in BF1, and they listened for once with Battlefront 2, but then fucked it up another way with maximum greed, which is all well documented on Yong's channel.

Thunder to be brutal fair a lot more women play mobile games. But that usually is candy crush not an RTS. Ea has a history of use gender as an excuse to dodge criticism and paint decent as a bunch of sexists and racists.

joey hamilton to be fair, who does and doesn't play mobile games is a pretty nonrepresentative figure. Having snake on your nokia doesn't really equate to putting in 30+hours into Breath of the Wild. Every person I can think of has been a "mobile gamer" by your metric at one point or another. And the girls who I know to enjoy video games vastly prefer console/pc alternatives (like the rest of the world that truly enjoys video games).

I still feel sad when I launch one of the good old classic C&C games and see "WESTWOOD STUDIOS PROUDLY PRESENTS". Red Alert in particular was all about alternate history. A Wizard EA just published Titanfall 2, Respawn developed it and did a damn fine job with it, that game deserved way more love than it got.
