Bought one of these earlier this week after bumping into a guy flying at a local park. He had one and highly recommended it as a beginner plane. Flown it a couple of times and love it. I even jumped onto intermediate mode on the first pack. As a first experience of flying, its well and truely got me hooked even if its not great in much over a light breeze. Just makes me want that 1.2 Eflite version even more!
I just got one of these and flew it for the first time today. Mind you, it's my first plane, but I have flown quad drones before in the past, it was pretty easy to get used to after the first few crashes. I would recommend to anyone that hasn't flown before, do not install the landing gear because the one on the left side of the plane ripped right out of the foam, but no damage to the wing itself, all it needs is a little glue to get it back on, but if you don't have practice landing it, it might be bad for the wing if you do crash. I probably crashed this thing like 8 times and the propeller popped off 5 times and it'snot damaged AT ALL. It just pops back on really easily and the plane itself has no damage even after hitting a tree, popping the propeller off and the plane just gliding itself to a crash landing on top of a building. But honestly, if it wasn't for Brian with these in depth reviews, I would have probably lost the plane and/or messed up the batteries or worse. I got a battery meter to check on the batteries after watching a lot of these videos, so thank you for all these reviews that you do! Once I get comfortable with this plane, I'm looking at moving up to some EDF planes like an A-10 or the Habu. I already know it's going to get expensive, lmao. My goal is to eventually be able to do some long range FPV, but it'll be a while before I get there.
Brian Phillips It’s pretty amazing. I’ve tried a few times already taking SAFE off, but I end up getting a bit nervous only because of the locations I’m flying here in AZ, cause depending on where the plane goes down, I may not get it back, Lol. Thanks again and for the info you provide in all your videos. I just watched the one you released today where you talked about the Spectrum S44 4-port charger and I’m going to be ordering it soon since I only have Molex batteries so far. It’s like you’re a teacher/professor of the RC plane world 👍
These are phenominal value for money planes, great fun and they bounce off the ground with no damage in most crashes. You can fly these with a multi-protocol radio like the Zorro...using internal RF 761. It even looks like some are modding them with bigger brushed motors, etc. Lots of possibilities for a little pocket change. Thanks China!
Great value for a genuine 3-axis control plane! That whole styrene package could slot into a case for easy transportation too. These look so much better than most comparable size models and stabilisation is going to increase its survivability . Excellent video with useful information and your enthusiasm is contagious! 👍🏻
Thank you for the kind words Dave! It is a great little plane. So much excellent tech is making into these little planes. Only a few short years ago, a plane this size wouldn't have had stabilization or auto-leveling, and it would have cost 2-3 times as much. Thanks for checking in!
You're a genius! Most people would have thrown it back in the box and shipped it back or would have spent hours on the phone with tech support! You nailed it with a power off reboot. Glad you did that, a cool little airplane like that doesn't need a bad rap. Super review Brian.
I'm glad you see it this way! I was a bit annoyed with myself for not getting it right, but to my defense, it was kind of a strange issue, right??? You may recall, not too long ago I had to resolder to fix a pot in a transmitter when I reviewed another Banggood special (XK K124 - another AWESOME little Heli, BTW)? These type of issues won't be fixed by a company like Banggood, they'll only ship another item...they don't make it, they just distribute it, so they really can't "fix" it, and I have little to no interest in asking them for help ;) They do what they do well, find these off the wall products, and market them for super cheap!!! That's why I like them, not because they sell the best RC stuff...they don't...but they fill a niche. As I have "evolved" in my RC pursuits, I've come to appreciate this genre...cheap, low time commitment, fun little aircraft and vehicles. They're fun and affordable to the masses, and I can help someone out who's picking a gift for their second cousin who's into RC stuff ;) Not everyone is gonna go spend $1500 on a plane, Radio, Charger, etc...like me ;) Glad you're here with us! Thanks for stopping by again, and for comments :)
@@BrianPhillipsRC You certainly made Banggood look good. I used to have a whole garage full of 1/4 & 1/5 SCALE Warbirds and 10 or 15 transmitters one for each plane and on different channels (the good old days) sold them all years ago and upgraded to some new technology. You sold me on that P-51, it's a inexpensive flyer that looks durable and fun to fly.
Biggest lesson learned, while plugging the battery into the plane, don't hesitate, get it turned over upright so the stabilization is correct. I thought you somehow mistakenly switched it to Mode 1.
All I do, with every second of free time, is watch your videos. Lol. We appreciate the long format. It seems most yourubers like to say stuff like "oh I'll keep this short I know you guys don't like long videos" He'll yes we do! rushing Assembly and radio setup is the easiest way to have a plane fly like crap. Anyways thank you, I always try to watch your videos completely, like them, and comment so your RU-vid statistics show more interaction. Anyways ty. Gonna watch it now
Thanks! Glad you like the long format too! We just watched Andrew Camarata for over three hours last night...so I guess we do too!!! ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KEbUNLHdX0E.html - this was the video, if you're curious.)
Nice, for AU$110 I’m grabbing one. The standard IT fix of switch it off and on again is worth knowing. Your concrete demonstrated its durability too! The chickens are going to be surprised ...
I have to admit sometimes the simple and least expensive things can be the greatest source of pleasure. Thanks for a great maiden BTW there were a couple of birds in the trees laughing at you.
Yes they were! You know, the other day we saw an Eagle flying out of the trees. It was huge! I don't want to encounter that behemoth with any of my RC planes, even the big ones!!!
It looks very similar to my old Parkzone ultra micro mustang, although that never had AS3x but it did fly well, just pulled the trigger on this so I can take my second son out and ‘learn’ him to fly...went through all this 10 years ago with my first son, looks like I’m back in for a bit...cheers from Manchester Uk !
first plane for me. its very durable. however i crashed it into a barn on one of my first flights pretty and it blew the battery thru the nose. a little school glue (dont have ca rnow) and a rubber band to apply pressure to put the seam together and now its good as new.
Hey Brian: Your problem at the beginning was you broke the Cardinal Rule !! Always TURN ON THE RADIO FIRST THEN PLUG IN THE BATTERY… The only time you plug the Battery First and then turn on the Radio is to DO THE BINDING PROCESS. If your Instructions didn’t explain this then they are incorrect. I have the exact same Airplane and the Instructions are clear on when to plug the Battery in FIRST is only if you need to Bind the Airplane to the Radio. Sincerely, Bruce A. Hill
Hi Brian HH planes are expensive and as an alternative that p51 you’ve reviewed is brilliant the quality Of those cheaper planes and helis for that matter is just getting better and better this is what I love about Your channel you respect all budgets and show how much fun can be had ....keep up the good work 👍best wishes Chris
I'm glad you get me :) I know that like many others out there, I can't just go around buying up every gorgeous and awesome RC plane that MotionRC temps me with....unless you think Megan was maybe looking the other way, is she???? JK....

Finally, a plane review. Perfect timing for those of us that need to fly indoors. Try binding with protocol V761 on your Jumper. This Mustang is made by Volantex. I've got their 761-4 Sport Cub 500 and it works great with my transmitter. You'll thank me later.
Flying in the Naperville Yard. Of course, I'm flying the volantex 761-4 which has a 500mm wingspan. Plenty of room for even the Timber & UMX Pitts! Costs $8 for 3 hours. You need something like the Vapor to fly in your house.
theoztreecrasher t16 Will Bind with Eachine P51d Mini volantex. Must Change to AERT (setup new model with ch1 rudder and ch4 aileron; th is ch3 and ele ch2). Gyro is on Ch5 and you can use a switch to change it on/off. HOWEVER, I wasn’t able to find yet how to change to intermediate (seems to be only off/beginner mode) I wasn’t able yet to find the Stunt button (left shoulder of original tx)... Any ideas!?!
Thanks for sharing, great video! I was having similar issues with this Volantex (it's a volantex) tx/rx with a different plane. Suddenly rudder is aileron... Suddenly the thing does stuff I dont even command it it to do and so on. I put a rx of my choice in it, and everything is fine.
quality as always brian . and very in depth review . mines just arrived .not been out yet as soo hot in spain at the moment .all the planes i have bought is from your reviews .not been out with the skyking 959s yet either . im sure it doesnt fly as well .or as good as you make it look though .thanks for your great reviews .really appreciated
Excellent! Glad to hear!!! It's HOT here too, and we just got inside from cutting down a few trees damaged badly from the Draco that hit the midwest about 2.5 weeks ago. Glad the work is done, but I was soaked ;)
For sure! Love the scheme! As for non-damaged, we get about 95% in great shape, but more packaging gets beat up...then there's the other 5% or less...which is totally damaged :(
Looks very similar to Parkzone Ultra Micro P51 gen1.Witch is a good plane, have had one for many years, now retired as static model...Actually better than gen2 (with 4 blade prop).
As cool as they are and they really do fly well please note: there is no info on performing a range check.... second flight with mine and second flight on tx batteries it was well within sight and it just kept going...if it had 5 min of battery left at full throttle, add 5 mph down wind it's probably 4 mi out in the open desert ..full size r/c systems usually move the servos a ways and then the plane comes down..which is closer and it picks up signal again..this one goes fly away it's gone.
I'm sorry you lost your plane, that sucks! This is unfortunately true for almost any of the small planes. Range test is not something you're going to find on a sub $100 plane. Even some that are well over $100 don't have such a feature.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I found a courtesy card in the box. support@exhobbys.com. Sent them a polite letter and an explanation...see where that goes....wonder if it's happen to other people and they just write it off and not bother to say anything...or maybe I'm the only one on the planet that had a problem

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I also review more expensive and elaborate planes too, but not everyone is spending hundreds of dollars a month on planes, like us addicts :)
Hey Brother!!! I’m embarrassed to say that I am clueless as to installing the landing gear on this Volantex mini P-51 .Please help I don’t want to break this thing before flying!! Thanks your friend Jeff T. I love your videos, and it’s really nice you have a great wife who loves your hobbies, not easily found!! God Bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄
Did you watch me do it? I do show that ;) It's not hard... you should just be able to slip them in, and then if I recall right, you set one screw into each mount to keep them in. Don't worry about flying this thing. It's NEAR indestructible (please knock on wood now that I said it)...but when you have your first crash and the prop comes flying off, don't freak out...unless you hit your eyeball, then DO freak out, otherwise, just carefully and gently slip the prop back on, start on ONE SIDE and kinda "Roll it on" - you'll get it when you see it the first time. If you push it on straight, you'll be likely to push the motor and gearbox back into the foam. Just pick a nice calm day, and loads of room, and you'll have a BLAST!!! Don't forget that I warned you it's a lot harder than you might have thought, but you'll have a new found appreciation for flying RC planes ;) DON'T get discouraged if you suck worse than you thought you might - you probably will - but in a few short months, you will be flying many more times difficult planes, and doing it with some level of impunity...if you don't give up, or hit yourself in the eye - then you're pretty much screwed...so don't do that. Wear safety glasses and a helmet, but most importantly, a nut cup - SAFETY FIRST ;) Enjoy!
Your video , usually Excellent, basically skips right over the gear install! I m old school and like to have a traditional landing and takeoff! Are t you telling me the slots next to scre holes are where yo insert gear? Also I’ve seen struts on outboard and inboard ? Very confusing!! Hi Brian, I need 1 tip for this model pls. Noticed this issue today after 2 batteries finished I started flying with 3rd battery, all 3 are standard 1s 400mah Mustang p51d stock bats. Started 3rd bat. wind also started getting annoying as I was flying it up at around 100-130meters from the ground, brought it down and wanted to fly it near the ground flybys at 1-2meters. Started saving a video and suddenly I noticed my plane at top-speed throttle stick flying by me is shaking(vibrating left-right wing up-down constantly) like it has electric shock. I repeatedly flew by myself standing on the sports airfield without any more battery or chance to reproduce the wing vibrating-shaking only at full throttle. When I fly it on half throttle it looks stable, no shaking or vibrations anymore. Not sure why is this happening so I will try to fly it again in a 2 days hopefully without strong wind and see if it starts shaking at full throttle flyby again. Meanwhile - I saw some of experienced RC pilots like you put a duct tape on 1 propeller and just put the tape around 1 fin, is this the possible solution or I misunderstood it and swapped tip/fix for something else with this wing hard shaking/vibrating issue I'm experiencing with Mustang p51d mini by Eachine.
This is over-correction of the Stabilizer. It can be remedied in one of two ways... 1) Reduce the output of the ailerons on the control horns of each aileron 2) Fly slower, then the stabilizer will not over correct, thus oscillating They are balancing their prop with tape. If you have a prop that's way out of balance, the plane can vibrate so badly that you might not be able to fly...or rip the motor off of some more advanced planes. To correct, you can use tape on one side, throttle up - Better or Worse? If better, more tape on the same side - Better or Worse? If better, more tape....repeat until balanced. If worse, switch to the other side. We've done this a number of times to balance props, or even EDF fan blades. It's easy, but not the "Best" practice. You're supposed to use a prop balancer tool, one of which I have, but it doesn't always work on small planes, like this and other "toy grade" planes.
When you initialize any gyro on quads or small planes, they have to be set on the ground in its level position or it will get all messed up. Usually each time you attach the battery. Not a bad flier. Sort of like my Horizon T-28.
this is late, but i made my own landing gear, little longer, stiffer wire. then cut quarter inch off each side of prop. full up elevator on take off, never hits prop on take off.
Brian: I just love your videos. I've watched several of them in the past week. Informative, entertaining and good, clean fun. As a 50+ year old fart, who used to dream of flying one of these, I have recently decided I finally will! We had a fantastic RC store next to my high school back in the days; but they sold nothing but gas-powered plains (only thing available back then). Beautiful machines; but way too much for my allowance. I recently lost my "camera crew"; and really need to get something to keep me occupied. And for some reason I seriously considered this hobby, after decades in another (electronics) hobby. I was told (and saw many - including your - reviews that say) the Hobby Zone Sport Cub is the "perfect" beginner. But where I live we rarely have a breeze-free day. And that concerns me. Would this P51 still be a good "trainer"; and would it handle mild wind a bit better? And I ask that because the P51 appears to be a few grams heavier, which should help on windy days, no? Thank you, keep up the good work. (BTW: your link to this product now shows a Eachine Mini F22 Raptor; but I found the P51 on Banggood)
Thank you so much for the heads up on the broken link!!! I fixed it. Here's what I'd highly recommend for your first plane, given your wind issue... Sport Cub 500 amzn.to/36z22Or / bit.ly/3c3Yqqn ...but if you really like the P-51, go for that, they're both good flying and really forgiving and easy... Mini P-51 bit.ly/2JQDtDj When you're ready for the next step, here's my short list (most expensive to cheapest)... Habu STS 70mm RTF - bit.ly/3fRaLj7 (We just did this one and it's AWESOME) Apprentice 1.5m RTF bit.ly/2CfTCBY Carbon Cub S2 1.3m RTF bit.ly/32UawRn Apprentice Mini RTF bit.ly/2B3VsoR Sport Cub S UMX RTF bit.ly/2OqnYUK Very sorry to hear about losing your "Camera Crew". I don't know what I would do without my wife. I lost my mom to breast cancer at 10 years old. Me and my brother and dad had to figure out how to live without her...This experience shaped who I am, but I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for all your expert advice and moral support, Brian; I really appreciate it. I'm kinda leaning towards the P51 because it seems to come with more batteries straight out of the box. But... I may just get both. Thanks, looking forward to see more from you and crew!
thanks to the video, I got the guts to go and purchase the plane. I ordered with 3 batteries. I want to ask you two questions, (1) Do you know if I can use similar LiPo 1S batteries, they are 3.7V 300mah from an old plane I used to have? (2) Where did you purchase the battery charger you show in the video, do you have a link? Thanks again for the video
YES - you can if the polarity is the same and size is similar. S44 4X 1S Charger bit.ly/32tpGx3 - BIGGER ONE S63 6X 1S Charger bit.ly/3iLuP8Y - SMALLER ONE
That's very flattering ;) Thank you! I'm just one more in the long list of people who've given their two cents on this little plane. It IS way better than expected!!!
Great video ! I bought this plane after watching your review but I didn't have much luck from my side. The plane seems buggy. It keeps loosing the signal. I am even able to reproduce the issue on the ground. When I walk 20 or 30 meters away from the radio the plane looses the signal :( Did you hear anyone complaining about this by any chance ? Did they find a solution ? Thanks !
I haven't on the 400mm series. I wonder if you have a broken antenna? Have you tried to see if the antenna is broken off in the TX (inside, and very simple) or the one on the bottom of the plane? Might want to reach out to the seller first and see if they'll replace it first, but if not, look over your antenna - might be where your issue is.
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks for your feedback !! Following your message I tried to check the antenna at the bottom of the plane. I do see a whole at the bottom of the plane and when I look into it using my phone light, I see a small antenna of 1 inch approx. Do you see the same thing or your antenna is longer ? To answer your question about the seller, I contacted Banggood for an exchange and for now I wasted hours for nothing. For the last 2 weeks I sent a lot of videos until they recognize that there is an issue. An now they are proposing to refund 40% of the price which I refused. So no progress. It is disappointing as it is my 1st plane. I wanted to get familiar with it before buying bigger trainer plane such as the STS 1.5m. Now I almost want to stop everything and drop the RC plane hobby and go back to RC cars.
It comes with what you NEED, but you can get these ones which are more flexible. S44 4X 1S Charger bit.ly/32tpGx3 - This one is quite a bit better! S63 6X 1S Charger bit.ly/3iLuP8Y
Totally get it! I'm in the same boat as you - it flies and looks WAY better than I expected. I was fully prepared for it to fly into the side of the house and blow up in a million pieces...and I can say - MULTIPLE nose dive crashed (all my fault) and all I had to do was swap out the prop!!!! That's CRAZY :)
You seem like a techie like I was but you need practice. I started with the Piper Cub version of what you're flying and it made all the difference. It is easier to learn how to fly using only throttle and left/right. I like what you're doing but you need to work your way up one step at a time so you don't crash so much.
I just got my mini P51. I am having trouble getting it into the air. When I try to take off with elevators up it noses into the ground. If I try to hand lunch it I can feel it nosing down and sure enough no matter what angle I try it flies into the ground. I watch your video and tried some of the things you mentioned but no luck. Do you have any other suggestions? Also is Eachine and Volantex the same mini P51 It sure looks like it is
Small correction. LiPo nominal voltage is 3.7V. Max voltage is 4.2V. As a 40yo Man-Boy I feel I have the authority to correct you. Otherwise, good review. I'll probably pick one up after the first of the year. That's when I cash in my vacation days and buy my toys for the year.
LOL - I can't ever really tell... It seems like some MFG print 3.6VDC and others print 3.7VDC. I find it strange, since we really only run them from 4.2VDC per cell "fully charged", so why call them 3.7VDC (or 3.6VDC) or anything else for that matter. Why not 3.8VDC Nominal, since that's "Storage Mode" charge level for best chemistry??? Lipos are so goofy anyway...let's get a battery that can discharge more than 20% of it's voltage...then we could do SOOOOOO much more with these things.
@@BrianPhillipsRC nominal voltage is the mid point at which a circuit operates. So I assume that batteries are labeled similarly. I think from an operational point it's better to have a battery that keeps it's voltage up. I don't know how long you've been in RC but the change from NiCd to NiMh was great because the voltage stayed higher then dropped off when it was done. A 2200mah battery that drops down to 2.0v per cell doesn't sound as fun as one that provides 2200mah and only drops to 3.2. There are lipos with 3.8V nominal rating. They are in high power devices with self contained charging circuits like phones. We'll probably see them in RC eventually. Right now they are making so much money on 3.7v lipos it's crazy. Buy the cells for a few bucks, solder a connector on, wrap them with pretty plastic sell it for 10times the cost.
you have a location and house that is tailer made for rc hobby... i watched a video a while back you used to fly in high traffic neighborhood..Happy flying!
Yo... Did you ever do a range check on one? Nothing in the instructions...do you still have the p51? If so could you please do a ground check and see what the servos do when it's put of range....I think I just lost mine...had it up Linda high into the wind, lost sight because it was edge wide...went full aileron opposite rudder to get it to spin..few seconds later I chop throttle...I should have seen in come down ..doing s fly away put of range is a bad thing...full size rc servos usually take a run in one direction with loss of signal.....and yes. 3 flights on fresh tc batteries...PLEASE HELP!
@@BrianPhillipsRC didn't get it from horizon. It came through Amazon.mi will see if I can track it back that way...if you still have yours could you give it a quick check...just get it turned in in beginner mode move on of the control surfaces and turn the tx off..does the surface return to neutral? And does the auto stable still work? Or does it act like full size r c when you turn the tx off before the RX and the servos travel a ways
Thanks! I bet you'll love it, but just make sure your controls are doing and going where you direct them. That weird issue I ran into could ruin a maiden, especially if it ends up flying back in your face :) LOL
This plane doesn't really "do" upside down flight...and landings are not it's strong suit, if that's what's helping to drive your decisions. If those are the things you want, then there are so many good choices, especially P-51's ;) The landings on this are wiggly and sloppy at best. The weak, thin and long bogeys allow for way too much movement, so forget about making a clean rollout. One COULD modify this feature to be much improved, and without too much effort, but I wouldn't. Upside-down flight is very marginal on this plane. There's not enough power, and even if you had it, flying in Expert is extremely demanding, since the stock Tx and Flight controller work in tandem to make the thing even flyable. P51 bit.ly/3bU5icI (get the 1.2m size) + NX bit.ly/3mbVuNB (get the NX8) + 2200 3S bit.ly/3xl5IQJ OR 2200 4S bit.ly/3iiTjbI (I'd do 4S) Then you can do anything you want, and do it in style. @@BrianPhillipsRC unreal! That’s great info. Thanks mate. I am going with this little p51 as a first plane ever. We’ll see how we go. I’ll definitely consider what you’ve suggested down the track👌🏻
Ya looks like you did something wrong on the initialisation process at the beginning. But man the abuse you put the plane through and it held together and flew perfect sold me on it. If anything you did a awesome durability test. and proved how good this plane is. And yes the prop snaps off in a crash and snaps back on to save the gearbox and motor shaft.
I know!!! I crashed it straight into the ground off camera after our filming ended, and I broke a prop...had it replaced without tools in about 2 minutes (including walking in and finding it!!!)...What a great little plane!! I think I figured out what was happening at the beginning of the flights, it was going to a 3 Channel setup!!?!??! BUT it was correcting in the wrong direction too. Not sure how one could successfully fly with that handicap, but I suppose you might be able to do it??? It did that the second time I went to fly it, but I caught it and fixed it... Thanks for watching! This plane is a great value!
@@BrianPhillipsRC hola amigo. Me gustaría saber si has localizado de estos fabricante otros modelos de guerra mítico. Cómo japonés, ingleses, rusos, alemán....me los compraría todos 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe becaused you plugged it in upside down... or because you touched the rudder when it was in program mode (before you cycled the throttle endpoints). Pretty sure you can reverse ail and rud inputs this way but it may have been the larger Volantex p51 I saw do that in a vid... Can you confirm?
Yep, this was the first of a few recent Volantex reviews...so now I realize you can swap direction of travel by simply pushing the control axis to the left or right, and holding it, while it's sitting there....when you see the control out put "jump", ending up the "other way" you're good :) Then just test to make sure you got it right.
yep, I figured that out on a later Eachene plane. If you hold any direction for a few seconds, it will invert that control axis...very nice feature, except when you're not expecting it ;)
Today I got second this RC model. First one was weri nice , but I lost due to very bright sun , outcoming from clouds. At this moment I cant see nothing in direction of flight and I lost plane. There need enough free spece for use. This small plane is very fast and impossible use in urban - parks or stadions.
Skills come with time. You can do it, and one TRICK for you. Close ONE eye whenever you must fly "through the sun" and then when you're past, you can open BOTH eyes again. This is a trick the PIRATES used to use when they'd go into the ships hull to keep from being blinded when they reemerged into the bright sunshine.
I bought this p 51 to take my maiden flight and the final result of this momentous occasion still has me scratching my head in denial and telling myself your ok hey shit happens. so two months later I'm still starring into space in bewilderment drinking more and more each day trying to repress my feelings I had for this little birdie before she decided to take her leave and left me far behind. Butt what's this I'm telling myself yes yes that's her sir please point her to me and let it rip I'm ready to re-maiden and forget about the night I decided to fly myself first RV airplane in the dark at a Walmart parking lot on a windless , cool and quite night with my son and his dog. Perfect what could possibly go wrong. I decided to hand launch and have no idea what mode I'm in so here we go full throttle straight line up, up and away she goes and the next thing I know she's above the lights at which point it might as well been a black hole. As I recollect once you go above the lights which are capped off its lights out total darkness.. I've been airborne maybe 10 sec at full throttle and lost all sight of aircraft so I pulled back on the throttle and performed a right handed bank thinking she would fly right back into my world but I guess half throttle just garantéed a substantial power savings if nothing more. At this time I have no Audible my son is chasing something around the parking lot but turns out it wasn't this war bird and his dog I only wish I knew what was going through its head as two grown men seem to be after a who knows what above those parking lights in the middle of the night at a Walmart. That's really not all that odd if you think about it. Anyway it's been about 45 secs and instead of just shutting off the throttle like I should have done before I decided to go full throttle and bank back to my left hoping and praying when it suddenly hits me, my son sucks he's just standing around like whatta ya gonna do it's a done deal, No it's out here somewhere I exclaimed last time I heard it it was headed your way you must of heard or saw something right? No I never seen or heard anything to begin with I was just trying to look buzy Hoping to support you. I loaded up and have never gone back to that spot in fear that I might stumble upon her maybe in a tree or the many acres of brush it might have lightly touched down on and get the urge to once again explain Newton's laws of motion and how they might pertain in this situation and also the fact he's perfectly healthy and on the other hand I'm in a wheelchair that don't take to brush very well. So I'm on the fence as to how to score this maiden flight I think I'll just finish this beer and brush it off, pretend it never happened but on the other hand I'm having these strong desires to reinact the event and this time actually look for the fly bird. what a deal I've waited 30 plus years for this and who would of thought a fly away.. Come to think about it my first drone flight ended the same way. I picked a bad day to quit drinking my friend..
Brian, tried again to install landing gear in Volantex mini P-51 .. Results- 1 totally destroyed wheel and strut! I am an ex machinist and this seemingly simple little bastard has me starting to drink heavier than usual! I am Really at wits end with this!!!!! Any possible suggestions??? Your Friend , JEFF T.
I want to tell you that it's easy, but it's not...they just kinda suck to put in - I can't recall having a HUGE problem, but I know we had issues with a few of the other from the El Cheapo series. Also, I want to encourage you to keep the drinking to a minimum before flying, as you may find it more difficult than usual to fly these things totally smashed... ;) Smashed flying MAY result in smashed planes. Sober flying, regrettable may ALSO result in smashed planes... I'm not very good at PSA's am I ?!?!? LOL You can do it!!! unless you got a lemon, and then you may NOT be able to do it, and if that's the case, I'm really sorry you got a lemon! The good news is that this plane will fly without landing gear in place, and wheels up wheels down on this plane is one of the weaker areas of it's overall performance.
Hi, thanks for your videos. I bought this little plane and it is super fun to fly. One problem I have is after I have used up one battery and as soon as i connect the second all the controls stop functioning properly even if I bind everything new again. All rudder movements are delayed and the throttle is almost uncontrollable. Any thought or advise would be much appreciated
Try this... Fly a good flight.... 1) Pull the lipo lead from the plane. 2) Leave Transmitter on - Make 100% sure that the throttle stick is at 0% output. 3) Plug in second lipo. Ensure it's level, OR "re calibrate the Gyro" Does this work? If not, do this instead... Fly a good flight.... 1) Pull the lipo lead from the plane. 2) Turn off the Transmitter - Make 100% sure that the throttle stick is at 0% output. 3) Turn the Transmitter Back on - Double check that the throttle stick is at 0% output. 4) Plug in second lipo to the plane. Ensure it's level, OR "re calibrate the Gyro" Tell me if this works, and if it doesn't I'll try to help you out.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Sooo I took it for a flight. About 2 min in I lost complete control and it kept climbing and climbing aaand she was gone. I couldn't even see where she went down ☹️. I have to order a new one. Thanks for replying and trying to help. Cheers!
Hi Brian, do you have an alternative battery for this plane? The original of eachine blows up and i want a brand battery, i bought them twice now and its just poor quality.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for responding! Yeah, the were ballooning, all three of them! No fire yet, although i could set them on fire myself for disliking them ;-) I have charged them with the original charger...to be honest, if it was only one battery i could understand.. but all three of them, very odd. Just bought the one you recommended, let see how that goes, I bought an thank you for that!
Hey Brian, Meghan & family. Yes hopefully the Draco soon, just in time for our winter! But the days here are great with still 19c so i will now go down to the beach for a flight
I bought one of these a I can't get it to fly. It taxi to the right and the elevator doesn't move. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks.
I'm sorry this is happening to your plane!!! Watch when I crash mine, right away. I had to start it up again, and it snapped into normal behavior, but not sure what I did differently. I KNOW you can change the direction of control axis, by holding the stick ALL the way to the left, for example on the ailerons, if you want to REVERSE the Ailerons control output. This is more than likely NOT your issue though. I think you have the issue I was having.
Hey Brian, haven’t flown my mini mustang yet, have landing gear installed now Another problem!!!! I am experiencing extremely shallow travel on elevator no matter what I try, is the travel range really short on this model, or did I get a 🍋??? Also, while fooling with the Clovis, connection to z bend, I busted the plastic piece!!! Tried glue, no hood!! Any suggestions? I’m about ready to light it on fire and send it aloft!!!!!!!
The plastic on the control horn broke???? BUMMER! Take a soda or WATER bottle, and cut out a small piece to look like the clevis, and just glue it down. If you can't glue it down, make it SHARP, and slip it from the top of the opposite side of the control surface, and then you'll be golden...trim the SHARP off and re-feed the extremely small wire through, and you can go fly. Don't worry about the throws...they are small. Fly her first, then witch from beginner to expert and you'll be surprised how wee she does.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thankyou for always responding to questions!!! I Really enjoy your videos, and they are definitely helpful. Like I said, you and your wife (camera crew), are very amicable, and fun, while being knowledgeable. You ought to have your own show, you are the Guy Fieri of Radio Control Town!!!!!!
You're welcome! I really enjoy the interaction, but it has become a bit more daunghtin with more subscribership, lately. I hope to keep caught up as things continue to grow ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC I have wanted to fly r/c since I was a kid ( 55 on March 23). I have always built and painted plastic models, if you go on Facebook, look up J.T.s Model Corner, it shows some of my work. I build and paint custom models for clients, but I WANT TO FLY!!! You have helped me get started, and you and your wife (Camera Crew) are so cool 😎!! By the way, what is your better half’s name??If you ever want a model made for you, I would do it no charge!!! Thankyou Brother for being totally Real !!!!!Your friend Fireman Jeff T.
oh man......thats all of the 400 mm I've watched on your channel now...I'm very new to RC (so new I haven't got one yet!!!...which brings me to my question...) for a total noob, which of these Eachine warbirds would you say would be the best as a starter? I appreciate they all pretty much fly the same, so I'm thinking more looks and scale (The Zero looks stunning in flight). For me it's got to look the part as well as be easy to learn from....your help would be much appreciated.....
I want to so badly, but I have to be very careful. I'm like an alcoholic in a liquor store, when RC airliners come up for same. Keep in mind, I have so many planes, and need to keep my budget in check :(.... What I really need is for Motion OR RC-Castle to send me one, so I can get it flying ASAP! This line of "work" reviewing RC aircraft, is draining, of the wallet. LOL
Sure, this plane would be a good first or second plane....BUT I think you'll enjoy flying this instead.... Volantex Sport Cub 500 - amzn.to/36z22Or / bit.ly/3c3Yqqn BG
I know this was back in November but I want to get one But I hadn't seen anybody us this plane how you would fly a big rc plane so is it worth getting for that reason
Plugged my esc battery Prop started spinning straight the way. Now doesn't work at all ,do I need a new receiver how do fit one have I wasted my money.
I hope not. Did the motor burn up??!?! Sounds like the throttle was armed right away? Maybe it's plugged into the wrong channel? I can't say there's never been a lemon from China...and I'm sorry to hear that you had this issue!!! Have you reached out to Banggood? (I know that will suck - BTW - but they are the ones who will help you out)
@@BrianPhillipsRC not spoke to banggood, I think this is my fault, do i need a reciver or new motor or both is it repairable, any part numbers would be great. Thank.
Hi Brian Thank you for all your postings here on YT, most informative, fun and Very entertaining. I have one of these excellent sonicRC 400 Mustangs, it is the first RC plane I have managed to fly without destroying, great fun, and perfect for me in intermediate mode. Question for you, I would like a bigger plane say 1.5 m preferable a warbird, Spitfire of Mustang, are there any out there like the Sonic that are RTF complete with all except RC batteries, again like the 400 Mustang, with stabiliser that are as “easy” to fly ? All the best from the UK Cheers Mark.
RTF - not so much, in 1.5m...but you can get closer to 500mm - we have some footage coming mid week ;) I think you might want to look at these to get into a bigger plane FIRST, but then you'll be well on your way to a 1.2m P-51. The Eflite 1.5m P-51 is not easy to fly...FYI...the 1.2m is GREAT, and a wonderful 2nd or 3rd plane though... Start with one of these, and then work your way up to the 1.2m - take my word for it.... I would if they asked what I thought, but I'm just a guy who loves flying RC planes ;) These Chinese companies are making what they think we'll buy, and would hope they'll put out a Spitfire too ;)
Hi, I bought this mustang after seeing your video. I like it a lot. I saw a corsair version on their website and ordered it last week. I should get it by July... I’m really enjoying your channel.
Hi Brian great video thanks I just love those ultra micro planes I have quite a few of them by Horizon hobby p51and spitfire etc great fun and pretty durable....if you’re just starting out in this hobby The low cost and durability not to mention the fun that can be had is a must I’m sure you’ll agree ....I started out with an ultra micro j3 cub and never looked back thanks again best wishes Chris
This plane is a far cry from the Horizon Hobby lineup, but it's a lot cheaper, and still has relatively good auto-leveling, and even had a few additional features, but as far as fly-ability...if that's a thing...HH takes the cake, if you can plop down $125-150 per UMX. This plane surprised me by being a VERY good one!
Thanks! So it's EEEEEEEEE-Sheen, a distant relative of Charlie Sheen, right??? :) I appreciate your help in Chinese pronunciation. I never seem to get it right, but it's fun to give it a try!
Anyone know if he’s got a vid to how he built that slick little multi charge station? I just bought this plane used and unfortunately it didn’t come with a charger😅
I have a video on parallel charger...it's kinda hard to find, since it's in a "non plane" playlist... I review it in this video... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4phBLsvV_fo.html another helpful one... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IK9k-zv7sQE.html
Hi Brian! Loving the Sport Cub 500 you recommended as our first trainer. Thanks for that! Debating now between the mini P51D from Volantex (761-5) and the larger one you reviewed (768-1). Love that the 768-1 has a larger wingspan and therefore hopefully easier to spot in the sky, but have also heard it is pretty fast so perhaps not such a great second plane and maybe better stick with the mini P51D. Also, I understand from your video the props on the 768-1 don't have the neat break-away feature either. Thoughts? Thanks!!
The LARGER (750mm) one is NOT the best...it's OKAY, but you will be frustrated, even if you're a pretty good pilot. The smaller one is a blast to fly, and really fun! If you want to progress beyond this small one, seriously consider the Eflite P-51D 1.2m and a Spektrum Transmitter. You will be in it for a lot more money, but it's a true "hobby grade" experience...rather than a fun "toy grade" experience.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the detailed and prompt reply as usual Brian. What you said is pretty much what I concluded from your two videos on these two mustangs as well as other videos I watched. I will definitely consider your suggestion about a larger, hobby-grade plane too. Thanks for all the great videos - they are certainly appreciated!!
The name of the brand is pronounced ESHEEN likw Charlie sheen might have spelled his name wrong just now lol but you get the picture. good lil company their mavic clone is the most sold one on the market. did you get that from WISH ive gotten some good namebrand stuff there actually.
Yes, Charlie SHEEEEEEN - EAAAAA-Sheeeeeen - I figured this out after filming the video and then hearing a few helpful folks in reply ;) It's a great little plane, and eachine has turned out to be great!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes they are a pretty good company. I plan on getting this one ,because I fly quads and helicopters and ground rc ,but have never bought a plane. with newer foam they use and how you flew it plus the price convinced me to get this model to start on. My first drone was a Eashine as well lol.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I finally got mine today Brian after 3 almost 4 mo of waiting I had some rudder issues but got it working havent put in the air yet though. To windy. Thanks for the review I havent flown since I was a kid and always crashed lol I'm a 37 year old kid now. Lol
where did you find a balance charger that will do 1s, all the ones i've ever had won't go below 2s because they won't charge a battery that doesn't have a balance plug?
It really is! I go into these reviews with very LOW expectations, and don't BS you guys at all....when they suck, you can tell, since I basically tell you how bad they suck :) This plane, on the other hand, is WAY better than expected!!!
