It states that when you have authority you tend to mingle in others affair, answer was Norway does that a lot. Specially in Sri-lanka where there was some friction btw India n EU nations. Thus we are convincing our neighbors that indian economy is lifting tie for them thus india investing in these countries. Its responsibility of india bcoz of its size. * Now, India left aside “orthodox diplomacy” ( reciprocity actions) in neighbourhoods. * “Entire neighbourhood minus one has been fairly good story of regional co-op”. * Multipolar world and India - 1. No doubt that world is more nationalistic ( economic and cultural nationalism). 2. India is exception. We are nationalistic but at the same time we dont see tension between being nationalistic and being international. 3. Creation of innovative, ad hoc, creative working. arrangements Is need of hour. 4. Multilateralism (wto etc) will come under stress. Their survival will depend upon how they respond. This stress is due to nationalism on rise and performance audit of these instutions with nationcentric view. 5. This is more complicated, difficult and unique world. For India its unique bcoz - Being market economy, democracy we are comfortable with west. Similarly being part of Asia/ rise of Asia, we have comfort with rebalncing Asia. Having G-77 constituency working with countries of Africa and Asia we have stronger bonding with them. Thus need of constructive deplomacy to tide these dots. * “ World doesnt run by entitlements, world runs by capabilities,by influence by interest”. * will India pursue OBOR kind of projects being aspiring power - “We are us and not some other country”. G-2 is new conception to suggest the bipolarity that may be emerging because of rise of China. Its like USA would accept Chinese hegemony in Asia (which is not acceptable to India) and China won't interfere in USAs hegemony in West.
Great initiatives by Team Modi. Encomium Dr. #Jaishankar. However, rate cuts by RBI will not help anymore. India needs to do the following in next 6 months to attract FDI and increase exports to boost the economy : 1. Increase export of agricultural products, especially those produced organically by large FPOs. 2. Reduce export tariffs, especially from manufacturing hubs in SEZs. 3. Increase port, road and rail connectivity to SEZs. Increase electricity and water supply and other amenities to SEZs. 4. If government lands are available near the ports, create SEZ in them and connect them to ports as manufacturing hubs for exports. 5. Reform and codify labor laws, at least in SEZs in tandem with the state governments. 6. All concerned ministries must focus to improve infrastructure of SEZs for next 6 months instead of focussing on grand infrastructure build-ups. These will also boost the demand side of the economy. Perhaps, the government can also consider further relief in income taxes in the next budget to increase purchasing power. If this SEZ development can be done for next 6 months with full focus, the manufacturing, export and employment will start growing, allowing the government to focus on grand infrastructure projects at that point. This will boost a GDP growth from present projected rate to about 8-10% within 1 year. The government can then think of connecting ports like Haldia and Paradeep to the Eastern freight corridor. Once the grand infrastructure projects get momentum, the GDP growth may touch 12%. Focussed development of SEZ will allow companies in plug-and-play, that is start business at once, given the boost of corporate tax cuts and perhaps export tariff cuts. Also, for J&K, the team Modi might consider declaring a moratorium for 1 fiscal year on corporate taxes for investments over INR 500 crores and for Ladakh, a moratorium for 2 fiscal years on taxes for investment over INR 800 crores.
