In this video I fly the newly released 787-9 Dreamliner from Horizon Simulations. On this route I fly from Papeete in French Polynesia to Los Angeles in California. This is one of the most hyped up aircraft for the simulator, considering that many airlines use it for their ultra long haul routes. The 787-9 is the most popular variant in the 787 family with over 600 delivered. I hope you guys enjoy this video and I will definitely be uploading a lot more content with this aircraft.

I work on this flight in real life. The parking gate is pretty accurate, usually goes to 221 or 225 at the Bradley west satellite terminals

Ya, it's very accurate even in FA'AA in Papeete. (Hint: pronounce each vowel) Last year was my 2nd time in French Polynesia. We also arrived at Gate 221. I have a pic but cannot upload it.

I really like the details in the external model - it looks much more realistic compared to the default and other projects derived from it. That being said, due the fuselage really have all those edges and panels? Isn't the whole deal with the 787 that the fuselage is made from large pieces of composite materials such that it is more smooth and has less drag?

Well, apparently not detailed enough. Especially the leading edge slats. Completely wrong and unrealistic. The slats are a mess. The tiny Krueger flaps near the engine pylon are missing on both wings, the actual slats are too short and look like they are stuck/ barely come out during extension. It's completely wrong. They should curved down, not barely extended forward like that when Flaps are being used. Try comparing it to Quality Wing 787 on P3D. They have very realistic and the best slats model, if you compare with the real life 787 wing view videos. (If you don't look at the graphic itself, just modelling) and they actually have the tiny Krueger flaps. Which is unique to Boeing planes like 767, 777, 787. As a wing view enthusiast, it's a huge deal for me.

You are right. This is procedure. However this is only done for commonality in procedures with the B777. Boeing sold the 787 with the pre-text that the types can be flown in one airline-division by the same pilots. The B777 has this procedure to prevent Hydraulic Fluid transfer, while the 787 has electric brakes. Nevertheless… you caught it! Very observant 👍🏻

The flight model used in this video is not the most recent build of the aircraft. The bugs with flaring and all that have now been improved and fixed

As someone who flies airliners on Xplane, MSFS flight characteristics still scare me. Above all flaring, touching town and steering. hope it will be improved and more smooth so a heavy aircraft really feels like a big bird. Air to ground transition still seems to be a big issue for the sim @@pulse_

I think the main gear touchdown itself is well animated, but you’re right, the MSFS ground physics look broken, there is zero to no gear compression, especially in the replay, the nose gear touchdown looks really weird. Hopefully MSFS/Horizon sim can make the gear actually compress into the aircraft under braking load with the SPLRs and autobrakes in use. That would be cool to see.

You actually make good videos, but...I wrote to you about this before, I believe. The quality of a good graphics card is one thing, but the quality of the producer is even more important. Ever heard of it: "Avoid the obvious" It's totally disturbing, this constant talk about you, about what you're seeing. People who watch your videos here aren't idiots who need to be told what they see, and people who don't know anything about the industry won't be in the majority either. Don't do that, it would improve your videos enormously.

I’ve been practicing in the default 78X and finding it difficult to land it smoothly. I suspect I’m over flaring. Looking at this landing there appeared to be hardly any flare but looks smooth as 🧈🫡👏. What’s the best way to improve?

The build I used in this video does not have the most updated flight model but it will continue to get better. It is way better than the default flight model
