Great to see you back and with a new plane! You should become part of the horizon sim team to give feedback or something to make it as good as it can be. Hope to still see some airbus flying. Enjoy the 787!!
Will you be doing a full "to-the-limits" flight test of the 787 similar to the ones you did for the 320? I'm curious to see how the fly by wire logic compares.
I hope they'll all continue to tweak the performance and handling. Horizon in cooperation with Working Title can make this into an awesome model, now that Quality Wings project seems dead. It's already very good, but it needs more of these tweaks/finetuning and debugging.
Thanks for this wonderful look at the 787-9. I wonder would you consider doing a video on how you set up those walkaround views and how you control the camera so naturally? You make it look like you are at one with the camera movement.
No pressure but I'm waiting for your tutorials before diving in. Being flying airbus since FS2004 and never dabbled with Boeing. I'm a BA pilot in Simbit Worlds "a pilots life 2" as I'm also waiting for the A380, but this is the first high quality long haul aircraft in the BA fleet
Captain, Sir, I have followed you for many years and benefitted greatly from your videos. Respecting your work, I have also moved from the Fenix to the B 787 and have done 3 flights. Thank you and I will now watch the video. Captain JRS
Helo captain Just watched your vid on the 787-9 just thought i would mention that you can change to the cross in the hsi simply by going into the fmc click on index then settings you will see the options to change it there on the right. Keep up the good work..
I've been flying the B789 regularly since it came out (with occasional A20N flights in between so I don't forget what you've taught me in the past!) and look forward to your tutorials telling me what needs to improve. Already learned one thing, how to set calm wind on the performance page. This morning (at Dallas) I eventually put in 1/0 when it frustratingly wouldn't accept 0/0 ... just 0 from now on!
Great video as usual, thanks. Since you announced you had converted to 787 I've been reading up on it, what an amazing aircraft! I had no idea. Looking forward to the tutorials. Thanks!
I think it is important to put credit where it is due. Yes this is a great package and Horizon have made numerous additions and changes. However, the avionics were developed by Working Title. Anyway, I'm super happy that you will be making tutorials for the 787. I have long considered making the jump from the A320/B737 to long haul and these tutorials will give me the perfect excuse to do so. Thank you!
There is a cockpit texture mod at simmarket that looks phenomenal!! I'm just waiting for a decent review like your's to pull the trigger! It looks even better than Fenix and PMDG at least from the screenshots provided.
Your real life experience is a huge plus but if you don’t criticize her, your experience vanishes. HS 789 is a good bird but she’s got many issues to iron out, please help on that thx
@@saren6538 Well, HS 789 Discord bug section has a pretty long bugs list, to start from, then I guess you are a payware guy, without SimBrief problems increase further. I am not moaning, that’s a freeware plane, I’m encouraging the tuber to avoid to think about likes only and to start to comment as a pro pilot instead
Hello, few days ago I bought the B787-9 made by horizon. installation was made by the Headwind - Installer. After installation the ND and FMC are shown with black screens only. . I have the Premium Deluxe version of the MFS. I'm really overasked in this case. Maybe you have an idea. I would appreciate any comments on this subject. Thank you in advance. cheers Bernd
These things leave my hometown, YPPH and fly nonstop to London Heathrow on a daily basis. It's amazing how far we have come. About 19 hours for the trip IIRC.
@@mattwright5887 No, that is a bug. It should be a relatively smooth rotation with moderate back pressure I believe. There is a bug currently where the nose kind of sticks to the ground almost
I'am torn between upgrading to premium deluxe or buying the Fenix 320 😅 I'm not an skilled sim pilot, more of a enjoyer of learning different planes to fly.
i REALLY ENJOYED YOU VIDEO, I MUST BE MISSING SOMETHING, BUT I CANT STEER IT ON THE GROUND. I USE LOGITECH RUDDER PEDALS AND THEY DONT APPEAR TO WORK. I NORMALLY FLT THE FBW A32NX AND WANTED TO CHECK THIS ONE OUT. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME.
That looks so real plus your graphics are amazingly real. I still have an old GTX 750TI so looking forward to a new computer to upgrade. Does the Rotary Cursor Control work or the trackpad. I am assuming not since you typed on the CDU like it is a touch screen or did you just do that because it is easier than messing with the RCC or pad? The jet looks so like the real thing. I am more of a 747/757/767 guy, but am rated on the 787 and was an instructor on it for 3 years, but unfortunately too old to get to line fly it for real...
I have also found that the rotation is odd in the horizon too. It feels like it's stuck to the runway, the nose refuses to budge, then at around 170 knots, it's instantly alive and you get a tail strike. Tested this at different weights and weather conditions, always the same result. Hopefully they can fix this, since it's a joy otherwise.
@@fsxn3rdThat's great! I had a horrible tail strike on my first takeoff with it! Are they also working on the landing? The nose drops hard after touchdown.
For the immediately after takeoff - you noted that the aircraft needed some manual trim - were you actively trimming the airplane down on your yoke? I have had issues with the new default 787-10 and the aircraft wanting to pitch up after takeoff as I accelerated - should I have been putting in a significant amount of nose down trim manually?
For anyone looking to change fuel values from lbs/kgs you can change your measurement to metric/imperial in the MSFS menu. The aircraft doesn't have a CDU option like most payware aircraft.
Ty for your erffort! Good Video. Im a little bit disappointed tbh. The Trent 1000 sound is not good, the typical "roar" is completely missing, the FBW-system is very bad. The weird behavior you expirienced during take off rotation stays the whole time. On a manual approach this plane flies like its hanging in rails...you can give him a -100fpm vertical speed manually and just leave the yoke...it will stick there untill touchdown. No liftdifference, no wind Influence, nothing. No wonder all those simmer make butterlandings now. As a real pilot you know there is a little arm work to do, even in a FBW-plane on approach. I really love the effort they put in the outside modell and the small "EFB" but they missed so much potential....I took off with 440.000 lb TOW in EDDM (4km runway) and barely managed to take off on this super long runway. Vr was at around 175-180kts (?!) and it was as fast - or rather slow - with full toga thrust (~97%) as yours in the video. Felt like a 747 with MTOW on the gear... I dont know, in my opinion the current default 787-10 with AUU2 is the better plane but also with bad sound😅
Awesome vid. About to mive to the 787 as well. Using the Qualitywings to learn the aircraft. Do you recommended this over the QW 787? I noticed a STAB GREENBAND EICAS. While you gere on taxi. Might that have affected your rotation?
Before I took this airplane to regular airports, I practiced touch-and-gos a few times at the KTTS Shuttle landing facility. It's the best runway to do some manual flying around. Also for doing go-arounds and holding patterns, I find it the best place for airliner practice.
Great video... I'm coming from mainly flying XPlane. I noticed that the controls Pitch/Roll. etc, feel a bit weird on MSFS. Do you have any recommendations on yoke setup, sensitivities, etc? That would be awesome.
The only aspect of this airplane that feels very unrealistic are the sounds, particularly the RR. While GE has received a custom pack, although it's certainly an improvement, it still falls very short of the industry standard. Not to mention that default RR sounds like a handheld vacuum cleaner. Personally I find the RR to be unflyble only based on the sounds. I hope that, in the future, they'll have the resources and time to update the sounds. Doing so would elevate it to a payware quality add-on. Despite this, the overall work is fantastic, especially considering this is V1 and it's free. No complaints, just a suggestion on what the next main focus should be :)
Evening, great video, are you flying with Thrustmaster Boeing or the airbus pack, I have the airbus pack, and if I set up a profile for 787, it screws up my a320 profile.
Hello captain. I have a question for you as real 787 pilot. In real life once you’ve turned off the hidráulics, the inboard alerons and elevators will come into a down direction position as there is not hidráulico fluid going on. In the simulator once you turned off the hydraulics, the inboard alerons and elevator will keep its neutral position. Is that ok? I don’t know if I explained myself correctly. Cheers!
Hi I have an issue with my 787-9 when I load in the fmc has the 787-10 fmc in the middle of the normal 787-9 fmc and makes the entire thing unusable how can I get rid of it?
I flew to nyc with lot 787 and was in the cockpit I loved it but I thought I will return on it on Saturday but sadly lot leased air Belgium a330 900neo and I will go on it not the 787😭😭
Anyone have an idea of why why I am stuck on heading select? LNAV is armed and it pointed the plane on an intercept path within 5 degrees of the magenta line but it will not engage LNAV?
How lucky for us that you can teach us so much about the A320 while the A32NX is available for free, and now that you're on the 787 the Kuro & Horizon 787s are now available just at the right time. 11/10 video, I am intrigued by the horizontal stabilizer laminar flow system you mentioned briefly. At a guess is the lower climb path of the 787 to do with it having a high glide ratio? To revert to cross bars FD, go to the index page in the FMC, then settings, it's in there somewhere.
All downloaded and ready to go. Tried a silly little test flight from Gatwick to Heathrow and with practically no experience was able to butter a landing using the head up display. Like others here I have had a less than satisfactory experience with the Fenix - with over 30 years of sim and some real flying I could never land it smoothly. Looking forward to learning how to fly the Dreamliner with you over the next few months
How would you rate its landing performance? I am relatively new and just subscribed and will be looking forward to videos about this plane to learn more, but on my few landings that I have done so far, the nose seems to be really heavy and drop hard after touchdown. Have you experienced this, too?
With QW disappearing into the unknown we are so blessed to have all the 787 variants. Such a wonderful airliner with the work of modders have brought it to a really nice sweet spot and the best part is it can continue improving over time. MSFS needs good widebodies.
Very impressed with this add on, a great freeware aircraft. I am hopeful they will continue to update this aircraft especially adding to the tablet functionality and improving the APU sounds which can be heard in the flight deck. But fantastic work from Horizon.
Please for the love of god keep your tutorial format that you used for the a320! Having a complete flight split up into separate videos has helped so many people. Maybe start in Seattle?! Thank you so much for your videos and congrats on moving to the 78!
