Early Battle Impact Wins Ranked Games 

I often find that having HE loaded for my first volley of the match can give you a chance to smack a dd pretty hard when it gets spotted initially. Even if you only land one or two shells. Can really turn the fight for the friendly dd and has great impact for the rest of the match.

For me it's Vermont in ranked The combo of stealth and firepower is so nasty to anything, even DDs get slapped for 11k regularly Got around 70%wr in it so far (in around 50 games)

IMO an important moment at 1:12 went uncommented - map awareness. Seeing on the minimap that the GK is passing the middle, quick glance where the guns are pointed at and then swing the ship around to angle and bring the guns to the other side, to push middle after the Wooster is dead. Way too many BB player would continue to sail north because they want to shoot with all guns on one side of the ship and maneuver themselves out of position and closer to the Gearing torps.

Man doesn't even comment about getting a push from the GK or the 51 planes he mowed down XD

Beautiful video as usual. I also prefer to play destroyers and radar cruisers because they have more impact on the game. I ask if you could also do a video on one of the main reasons why DD's are so efficient in ranked: the importance of capping points. A DD can stay concealed and re-cap all the bases on the map if he stays only with one or more battleships, but a lot of players still fail to understand the importance of cap in WOWS. Interesting GK players (on both sides) in that last match! I think well-played radar cruisers can trump DDs, so I will go with them.

I found myself playing the Zao in ranked lately. I win a fair amount of times with it, but suck with it in randoms. I use ranked solely to play ships I suck with in randoms. For example: I played the F. Caraciolo and the Helena just to be able to see only T7 enemies so I can grind the T8 ship with an ease of mind. So: I abuse ranked and the winning / competetive part comes only in 2nd for me.

I find myself having more impact in battleships as I play them aggressively to remove other player's ships ASAP, when I play destroyers my battleships are often too passive and don't provide adequate support. I would rather support a mediocre DD than be a good DD player with no support. Vermont took me all the way to gold league, the ship removal potential is insane.

I always tend to load HE for start of match to assist friendly DD.. Taking a chunk from a DD gunboat who has gone guns blazing against your torp DD can certainly help outcome

I'm not a DD player and I don't really have a good one for ranked. I find Sherman to be too team dependent, while Marceau isn't good against blobs. I say blobs because on my experience, enemy DD's always get radar support or DPM on their side while I usually get none. If the team doesn't help then I just farm or delay as best as I could. Not gonna lie, I don't really see the "french saturation" everyone is claiming. Even 1v1 I get shat on by most dds like gearings or darings even if they use HE and not AP. Besides Elbing, that is free food. I have the most impact with a radar cruiser like Nevsky, Petro, DM/Salem IF you managed to lock down a cap, unless there is a CV. My other choice ship is Ohio cause, tbh, its good in almost all cases. Even more useful then Kremlin I find. Tried out Schlieffen and Preussen but I just get HE or CV spammed so I don't really last even if I don't charge in like a fool.

As a BB main for my clan, I always try to focus on the enemy cruisers and BBs so I can draw fire away from my team. In fact, in ranked recently, my team's Napoli and I pushed and flanked the enemy team by ourselves. He took the lead so he can screen for torps. As we pushed, I saw an enemy DD get spotted and I chunked it for 8k or so, then Napoli finished him off. As we came around an island, a enemy Des Moines get spotted and pulled out from behind an another island broadside, I dev strike him, saving me and Napoli time so we can finish off the enemy team. BBs rely on having a competent team around you to fulfill your role effectively.

I never got a good hang on the Schlieffen in random games, but oh boy, in ranked games it's a beast in full secondary/IFHE mode. This BB is made for ranked. Put the secondaries on the DDs when possible (it's like a "Fire and Forget the DD") and concentrate the main guns on bigger targets. It requires a lot of good positioning, but if you start at the furthest cap with the Schlieffen (it's fast), the chance to find only 1-2 contestants are pretty high, which means you can do the job alone (depending on enemy ships of course). Try to build a lot of pressure on the cap and the enemy and your DD on your side is perfectly fine. If you get a smoke support for the Schlieffen, it's even better, because your secondaries make a lot of damage on anyone who dares to come closer than 12.5 km However, I'm just the "average Joe" when it comes to my other ship skills, but BB secondaries in ranked, that is a ton of fun and wins, that I never expected.

What cruisers would you suggest? I tried Petro, Moskva (don't like her concealment), Salem and Hindenburg.

This ranked season is really boring…same ships over and over again…Marceau, Salem, Stalin, Napoli, Bourgogne and an odd Incomparable or Mecklenberg or an FDR…speaks millions that when it comes to competitive, fremium or premium ships are all that matters…tech tree ships really need a buff in a big way..otherwise it’s just really boring. And there are so many gunboat DDs that torpboat DDs are ineffective completely. For example, in the above line up, if both teams have the exact same ships except one brings the Halland instead of the Marceau, it’s game over for that side…this is not healthy meta cos it’s just boring gameplay and overtime rinse and repeat is just for steel/doubloon farming alone

I don't agree that DDs have the most battle impact; rarely in fact. I'm not saying they don't have impact to a degree, and sometimes a high degree, but it doesn't take much to kill a DD. The greatest impact comes from the right combination of ship-types being in the right place at the right time even if under-gunned. Also early battle impact doesn't guarantee a win. I've seen often how that turns around. BBs have WAY more impact than you believe as a well-placed BB salvo can kill literally anything. Also all players have less impact on win/loss than WoWs themselves who loads up one side with those hidden modifiers that literally cause win or loss of a team (which is why an individual's win rate does not make a difference in a win or loss). All you can really do is play your best and even in a loss, make your XP, Commander XP, etc be as good as possible and help your team do its best.

Daring,Halland,Marceua,RadarMino,Desmoin,Republice. Thats my set of ships go back n forward depens on the day if too many red bots appear on my team obv im gonna lose that even if top of the team and star is saved thats just rank but sometimes i win 10matches in a row as Daring or Mino i have plenty of those odds aswell its all rigged 100% no doubt.

What crosshair are you using? I have been using the Nomogram dynamic for a while. It works well for BB, but not so well when you are targeting a DD. Any thoughts?

I decided to stick with silver league this round, and farm the resources there. I don't like to stick with playing the game for too long these days so the faster I can finish getting the rewards, the better. As for ship type....i tend to use whatever is necessary for the missions (in this case, the PR dockyard). I love all classes except for cv, it's boring. But tend to also bring out unconventional choices just to see what I can do in a 6 v 6 situation and keep things fresh. Playing Des Moines 10 matches straight can be mind numbing for instance

started to play bbs in ranked wen I got the mecklenburg, this ship is a ton of fun and can slapp anything hard ^^ I normally play DD, Småland, Ragnar or Marcue

My last 3 ranked games were victory's even though each match one of my team yolo'd then gg's the reds on their win because of their crap team, then we won anyway! oh, and I used Marceau and Yueyang radar.

I am bb main , bout 14000 games in bbs alone but in rank i am actually learning how to play dd cause of the potatoe qaulity in ranked nowadays 😄

This is why I love ranged built Thunderer. If bb:s are spotted early you can do a ton of damage to them before they are even near to support ships pushing into the cap. Toxic and op? Sure! Effective? Hell yes!

I play Z-52 for ELO but my soul belongs to BBs. So, I play them in randoms and on lower tiers.

SMOLENSK took me though silver, pepole have insane respect for it, seen many turm turn turn = bs for my teammates

I personally really enjoy playing Venezia in ranked. Because for me it's just a very good effective way of dealing with enemy DDs: killing them outright at soon as they're spotted. Also, it's a great way to support my own DDs since I'm just there with my Venezia, letting them know that as soon as an enemy pops up I'm there to deal 15k straight into them pretty much guaranteeing our DD victory. And I think that this dev strike potential is missing on radar cruisers, which in addition often have to go into uncomfortable situations, that they can't easily get out of. On the other hand, if I'm getting myself in a bad situation it's very likely that I have my fule smoke ready and can just run away with 38kt or even just trade myself with an enemy's DD. This playstyle of course has a lot of limitations and you have to be extremely cautious with where and how far you push with your DD. You still are in a pretty large cruiser with an exposed citadel. However, for me, that is a risk I'm willing to take since it offers such a high reward.

In my opinion Radar Cruisers, like DM or Mino(double rudder) or consistent dpm Output Cruiser like Venezia are the best choice and that works best for me

i'm sick of all of the Potatoes paying Ranked that fails to understand its a Team effort rather than their own personal score.

I tend to main my napoli in ranked (somehow my highest winrate t10) and it usually goes quite well. It can really punish a team who doesn’t focus fire well

With random factors like RNG, spotting, relative engagement positions, map factors, expecting your DD to smoke the opposing DD just because his might have a bit of a DPM advantage is how you loose your DDs. supporting your DD and supporting the CA supporting your DD is likely to give you the DD advantage which will help later in the game. team play wins so team play is battle field impact.

Try pulling a solo warrior in Ranked in a BB. Yes, I did that in Sprint one this season in the montana vs Two Montana's, one Gearing and one Wooster.

I usually play BBs and CAs like GK, Schlieffen, DM and Napoli, since I've always been afraid of playing DDs. They feel stressful for me. I constantly feel like I'm going to underperform in these.

At ~ 8:00 , would the better play have been to load AP and shoot at the broadsiding Montana?

I played Ohio lately with good results. tried with petro but it's always immedie focus fire from the entire enemy team

6:40 i was in exact the same place with my Kremlin against a DM. All my shells missed and i ended up dying by ram. Never played Kremlin or a BBs in CB again.

My picks are Goliath, Salem, Venezia, Petro and Yoshino. I know Yoshino is a questionable pick but I have 60% win-rate in ranked in Yoshino :D

Question, why are so many bbs obsessed with capping? It seems many dont truly understand dd play and if you dont dive directly in the cap you'll get reported and lose a bb to rushing in to cap. Seems to happen ALOT
